    Mean Girls

So is this another "The Canon"? because we already have alot of that. What I liked about that pod was when it was two film critics getting into more detail while having different views. I love Paul but if this is "The canon" with Amy and a person that is not going to challenge her, then I'm kind of bummed. It has always kind of been that but the conversation around what white dudes have deemed worthy of some higher historical praise and then pushed it hard on the rest of the country, is an interesting topic, I would like something more structured. Mean Girls is good, I would like to have seen a version directed by David Wain

    Midnight Cowboy

Saw this movie for the first time a few days ago and really love it to bits, it was much funnier than I thought it would be and made me wonder if this was a major influence to Gus Van Sant's My Own Private Idaho.

    Episode 119 - Friday (w/ Ben Westhoff)

I was never a huge fan of Friday. Its alright but for me, the jokes and pace of the film fall flat, definitely not canon worthy. I would have rather House Party be up for debate or if we are just talking about 90's hazy hangout films then maybe Half Baked.

Episode 105 - Eraserhead vs. Blue Velvet (w/ Michael Nordine)

Quick question for everybody: Did you guys adjust your TV when you watched Eraserhead? I borrowed a DVD copy of it and there was text before the main menu that said something about how tv sets are poorly calibrated and asked me to turn my brightness all the way down. There was so much black that the film felt even more like it was in a void but there were some scenes like the second time harry and the girl across the hall interacted that were so dark you could barely see anything unless you turned the brightness up a tad. Is the film really suppose to have such a limited field of view? I don't mind a dark film but I wonder if some of the intended darkness is lost in streaming or if what ever HD copy amazon/Netflix/Skynet uses has made up for it.

Episode 99 - Sign o' the Times vs. Stop Making Sense

All the way with bleary, sycasey 2.0 and deanepuddle's comments! I am going to turn some aluminum foil and bottle caps into an olympic medal for listing to this guy talk down to the listener with such an airy quasi intellectual tone. Frankly, we all deserve a medal.
