  1. After my pick. I know what I'm picking regardless of theme. Otherwise, I like it.
  2. She might be hacking the Gibson.
  3. Apparently that slipper was made out of safety glass. (Seriously, it never broke no matter how big a foot was jammed in it!) We watched...
  4. Hi Zukes! Welcome to the forum!
  5. Off-Topic: Who popped in here from time to time shortly after this new format was implemented? We commented on how we wanted the dark background and they said they were working on it. I'd like to get in touch with them to ask them to fix the quote box and the notifications box up top once a notification has been read.
  6. No worries. I probably won't be able to see it until this weekend at the earliest anyway. I agree I prefer to stick with the selection at hand. (Except when the selection sucks <cough>Piya Berupiya<cough>.)
  7. Thanks @taylorannephoto. I wanted to ask about Ever After. I haven't seen it but will check it out!
  8. "You'll all be welcome in America!"
  9. At first I only knew Veanne Cox (the redhead stepsister) from a Law & Order: Criminal Intent episode. Looking for pics I see she was also the snooty lawyer from PG&E in Erin Brockovich.
  10. So how did the pumpkin get turned into a carriage if magic wasn't involved?
  11. That sounds right to me. I was commenting while watching on how they had a Filipino actor playing the interracial son. Unfortunately he doesn't appear to be related to Ricardo Montalban so the prince's carriage probably doesn't have rich, Corinthian leather.
  12. I saw a trailer this weekend for DC's Shazam! movie. (Not to be confused with the HDTGM classic Kazaam.) It's a early teens boy (or maybe younger) when he's normal but when he transforms he pulls a Big and becomes a fully-muscled, taller, older man. That's the only way I could see the mystery working for Cinderella, interracial or not. It also would probably prevent the slipper from fitting so the mystery continues...
  13. Serious question. Why did the slipper survive when everything else vanished at midnight? I admit I never considered that until watching this yesterday. I was wondering how Whitney was going to explain the midnight limitation, To the writers' credit she effectively said "It's a movie. Relax." I liked that but it got me wondering.
  14. Ok, gigi-tastic, let us have it! Until you do, remember this...
  15. Lastly, a rap battle (NSFW)
  16. For the Mary Poppins (and KBell) fans... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ggfes8
  17. I'm not so sure. If that's who I think it is he built the Titanic. Not a good history there...
  18. No worries! You made it in (and hopefully remembered your birthday) so...
  19. If @gigi-tastic hasn't responded by later today we'll swap. Unfortunately Cameron H. is next up so he needs to swap as well. I think that makes @taylorannephoto next up. Taylor, can you make a pick if needed?
  20. I also wanted to post that @Cameron H. will be in and out for a while. His father passed away yesterday. Many condolences Cameron!

Musical Mondays Week 53 Florence Foster Jenkins

I think a big part of the problem was the compressed timeline. IIRC the movie started in 1944, shortly before her death. In reality her performances had gone on for years. She started making records in 1941! I mean, just think about it. In that era nothing got done quickly, certainly not putting on grand performances in two halls, making at least one record and distributing it, hiring and rehearsing a new accompanist, etc. She died on November 26th, 1944. Even if the movie started on January 1st that's only just shy of 11 months to do all that.

Musical Mondays Week 53 Florence Foster Jenkins

Love The Shaggs! My Pal Foot-Foot! In last week's thread I posted a video from a lady named Mrs. Elva Miller. She had a similar bad singing voice but she went for popular music.
