  1. Ugh guys, I rented this from the library and then was about to watch it last night, but my dog had a seizure and had to go to ER Vet. (He's ok, apparently aside from the seizure, he's extremely healthy. Dogs are weird). There's a lesson in procrastination in there somewhere. So I'm going to try to watch it tonight. And I've had the song "Why Should I Worry' stuck in my head since this movie was chosen, so I HAVE to watch it to get it out. This is very true of black cats at my shelter, but weirdly, brown tabbies are much more popular than orange ones. I don't know why - we have so many brown tabby and so few orange ones. Orange cats are like one step above black cats. People don't like Halloween colors I guess.
  2. Great news, my friend is coming but decided to drive up tomorrow instead. So I can join! Best of both worlds really.
  3. I may have a friend coming in tomorrow for the weekend - if she shows, I'm out but if she bails, I'm in. She's driving in from five hours away, you think I'd know by now. But no. I don't.
  4. I loved this movie. Great choice!

IMPORTANT: Forum to be updated 7/4/2018

In the search bar as well, or against any black background I suppose, its very hard to read the gray text while editing/writing. Not a huge deal, but just wanted to give my 2 cents in it. But i love the new look regardless

Musical Mondays Week 24 Reefer Madness

I was reading an interview with Kristen Bell and Reefer Madness came up! Apparently the people from it are the reason she went to LA. Without that, would we have The Good Place, my favorite show on tv? Thankfully we don't have to know the answer to that. Kristen Bell Gets Candid About Her Codependency — and The Good Place’s Effect on Her Moral Code
  7. I just logged into this forum on a computer for the first time since the update, and wow my profile has a lot of information. Apparently I won the day in December? Was this always an option? And I was able to scroll back through my personal feed and see its just me talking to people about 12 Dates of Christmas, which sounds about right. Now I have to figure out a picture to put in here because I lost that trapeze photo I had years ago in a phone purge.
  8. I’m very excited about this mobile friendly version. That’s all.
  9. 12 Dates of Christmas! My annual holiday movie!
  10. Same. I've got a six hour drive (or ride I guess, I'm not driving) that I'm apparently going to be no fun on now Too bad for them. That ghost's haircut distracted me far too long in that movie. A Christmas Kiss is a much better double feature with Christmas Prince.

Musical Mondays Week 43 Piya Behrupiya

Ugh I'm dreading that movie. I can't bring myself to watch it, but I guess I have time tonight now

Musical Mondays Week 43 Piya Behrupiya

I started this movie, got panicky that my subtitles weren't working (for some reason they were delayed like five minutes into the movie) and then only lasted a little while into it. Sorry Cinco! I wanted to watch it, but I was so spacey I couldn't concentrate on it. I was going to try again tonight, but it sounds like I probably can skip it.

    Episode 192.5 - Minisode 192.5

I've been listening to the song Miracle by Chvrches repeatedly lately, though I haven't bought it so that's just me playing the youtube video over and over. I have a problem with that song. Its very catchy. Looking at my Amazon Music, the last 10 songs outside of that were - Good Grief - Bastille An Act of Kindness - Bastille Basket Case - Bastille The Currents - Bastille Pompeii - Bastille Glory - Bastille (this is just a result of me asking Alexa to play Bastille while I was cleaning) Budapest - George Ezra Let You Down - NF You Broke up with Me - Walker Hayes I have a free month left of XM so I've just been listening to Alt Nation a lot, my playlists I can pull from are a little bare. This is also how I got obsessed with the Chvrches song, and the new Young The Giant song Simplify, which I've also listened to repeatedly. Also on youtube, I listened to Jeremy Jordan's cover of It's All Coming Back to Me Now a lot (Youtube isn't blocked at my work, so I tend to just listen to a song I like on repeat as kind of a white noise machine (yes i'm wearing headphones))
  14. This episode is super insane, and I loved every minute

Musical Mondays Week 42 Blues Brothers

I think I would like it more on a second viewing tbh. I feel like I was constantly confused, but now that I know the whole plot, I can focus on the jokes and the music instead of trying to figure out why Carrie Fisher is trying to kill them. This makes me real nervous for Blues Brother 2k whenever that comes up though.

Musical Mondays Week 42 Blues Brothers

I was traveling all week but I wanted to throw in my two cents for this movie. I don’t know if I had too high of expectations or if watching after a lot of travel was a weird headspace, but I didn’t like it as much as I thought I would. I enjoyed the music and sight gags. I’m normally into the absurd but I had a hard time paying attention to all the tangents. I will say Elwood’s apartment reminded me of a friend’s studio that was slightly bigger but just as close to the El tracks. Man that place was loud.
  17. I'm travelling this day, so I'll miss this. I swear I'll make it soon!
  18. Oh I've never seen this! I live in Chicago, I feel like I should have. Hopefully I won't get sick this week too and can actually participate!
  19. I am so jealous. That's such an adorable celebrity sighting.
  20. So many tears! I'm shocked my eyes weren't super puffy the next day from all the crying. That woman was AMAZING. Her personalized goodbyes to the guys, ugh heartbreaking.
  21. I got distracted with Queer Eye season 2 and Father's Day stuff, but I should be able to watch this on Tuesday and join in late. I've wanted to see this one too!

Musical Mondays Week 40 La La Land

I don't think its his responsibility at all to make sure she's responsible. I just think its weird to encourage someone to quit their job and not ask them how they're planning on paying for a theater rental. I know someone like that also encouraged people with 'don't think about it too much, just live it' and it usually didn't end well financially for the other people. Here's the thing - I'm a huge planner. I have spreadsheets and color coded calendars for everyday stuff. Someone tells me not to worry and go with the flow, that's the first thing I'm going to do because in my experience THEY'RE not thinking about the details. So two people in a couple just living in the moment, living their art, are probably going to drive me a little crazy.

Musical Mondays Week 40 La La Land

I don't think he's selfish per say. Just that he's thoughtless (in a nice way, not a cruel way). He encourages Mia to quit her job, write her own thing, rent out a theater - all great things! - but then doesn't really follow up with her about a back up plan or what her next step is. He snows her with charm and a 'it's fate! Don't worry so much' attitude and she has zero follow through. I know its not his fault that she didn't draw a crowd, but the 'everything always goes the way I expect it to' attitude drives me insane and doesn't extend itself to everyone. I may have some issues with this type of person that's coloring my viewing. I also don't think Mia is in the right here either. She misses him and picks a fight with him that makes it seem like he's compromising his ideals, knowing personally how hard it is to succeed in making art for a living. I agree the music he was playing wasn't what he wanted to in his dreams, but it was better than the pool party 80's band and much better money too! They're both complicated people with not great communication skills.
