Episode 255. A Very Nutty Christmas

No one seemed to be bothered by the magic/his nutcracker-ness in this movie. When MJH tells someone about the nutcracker coming to life, they basically shrug and say ‘who cares, he’s hot’. If my best friend and/or boss said something like that, I’d take them to a doctor.

Episode 255. A Very Nutty Christmas

In the beginning of the movie did MJH's boyfriend just straight up admit to cheating on her and blaming it on her being a busy, successful baker? And no one seemed really upset about that? It bothered me through out the whole movie that she was more upset about being single for the ball instead of just pissed he was apparently cheating on her the whole time. My main take away from this movie are these two images I immediately sent to my friends while I was watching this movie. Barry Watson is great at being a terrible actor. He has another made-for-tv movie where he's a robot and its god awful and --- he's the best part of it.

    Episode #245 - Money Plane

Also to my knowledge, the plane is considered to be in the jurisdiction of the country its registered to, until it hits the landing strip of the country its going to. This money plane has to be registered to some country right?

    John Wick 3

I enjoyed it! I had seen the last two at my friend's house, so it was fun to see this one in a crowded theater with audience reactions. I always love a group 'oh!' when something surprising happens (the one that sticks out is after they realize the High Table's armor is too good and they upgrade their weapons to the shotguns, immediately blowing that guy's head off. Whole audience reacted to that one!) I did think Halle Berry was going to be in more of it, but I enjoyed her nonetheless. All good dogs in the film.
  9. I know this isn't the point, but I LOVE Practical Magic.
  10. I feel bad I derailed things a bit! I'll try to pop in when I can, I love when I get the chance to participate. I just honestly am so brain dead after work lately (which is a huge difference from my last job where I was literally watching movies during work hours). Miss hanging out here with you guys
  11. I can’t believe I missed this! So bummed. I saw this movie in theaters and distinctly remember when they zoom out to show the epic battle of Cullens vs Others, that it looked like twelve people in a field. The music was so dramatic and every one had their angriest ‘ready to fight’ faces. I burst out laughing and got shushed by most of the audience. They were unappreciative of the humor.

    HDTGM Classics: TBD

Ugh this month is so bad for me - I would love to watch either of these! But I have friends in town both weekends. Hopefully I can make the one in April! My new(ish) job has me actually busy, I feel bad I'm not hanging out here as much anymore lol.

    HDTGM Classics: The Wicker Man

I’m sorry I missed it, I ended up having last minute plans with my brother. What did you guys end up watching
  14. This, 100%. They both are trying to be supportive as much as they can but in actuality, both failing at it. I think its a byproduct of their speedy romance and age as well, but I don't think either side is really giving their best effort in supporting their spouse. The parties DO suck, but Cathy could easily talk to other attendees instead of secluding herself. Ohio IS far and demoralizing, but its important to Cathy so Jamie should shut up and show up.
  15. Why do I bother coming here. (Also, I feel bad that I don't have more to contribute other than my crush on an actor. But I have been having a problem remembering my opinions about this movie because I made the mistake of watching that Rent:Live thing on Sunday. I have had Rent opinions since, so this movie is right out of my head. )

    Episode 205.5 - Minisode 205.5

It’s in Prime Video for free right now, if that helps at all
  17. I feel like this is a big problem with the movie because its super jarring if you're not aware what's happening. Anna singing mournfully followed immediately by happy-go-lucky Jeremy makes him seem callous almost right off the bat. I haven't seen the stage production but I was aware of this musical before I saw it (a friend of mine was a huge fan and told me a synopsis before the movie came out) and I assume the stage production makes the timeline clearer.
  18. When I originally looked up this movie and saw the lawsuit attached to it (ex-wife sued because it was too closely related to their real life story) I thought she was going to come off a hell of a lot worse than she did. I still would be pissed if my ex-husband profited off our failing relationship, but it could have been worse I suppose.
  19. Anna seems very isolated in this story as everyone involved with her acting is either judging her or someone she dislikes (the people in Ohio), as opposed to Jeremy who has a whole world outside of their relationship. I do find that odd.
  20. I think I'm a bit immune to the patronizing because I grew up with family members that succeeded in everything the first time they did it while I didn't get whatever gene that was. A lot of conversations were just "did you try it this way?" as if I have never thought of the basic way to accomplish any task. I related to Anna in that way, and was frustrated for her and could understand her resentment towards his ego tripping parties. But also didn't really hold it against Jeremy because I know it comes from love and a desire to be helpful when there's no possible way to help. I have had many a fight end in tears that way with my mother and brothers.
  21. This might be a bit of my love for Jeremy Jordan, but I don't think he was that awful. I think he got caught up in his success for sure, (and obviously shouldn't have cheated, I'm not excusing that) but thought of it as him not knowing if this will ever happen again, being really young and taking all opportunities to capitalize on it. This isn't to say I feel like Anna Kendrick (I cannot remember either of their names) is to blame or he didn't do anything wrong (again, shouldn't have cheated), but I think they were young dreamers when they met. Its fun and easy to be a couple when you're both dreaming but not easy when one person's dreams come true and the other's get further away. In the beginning of his storyline, he mentions that he has a ten year plan to become a successful writer and then later says his first book gets bought with no re-writes. I can see how that would lead him into the ego trip that he get into, as well as how that fractures his relationship. It must be damn near impossible to sustain a relationship where one person is having people fawning over their 'talent' and the other is struggling to get any sort of recognition. I saw this a while ago, and have since watched La La Land for Musical Mondays, and its interesting how those stories parallel. I think that if they showed Anna and Jeremy years later, they'd have a similar dream sequence that Emma and Ryan have - what could have been if they'd been willing to work on their relationship rather than their dream careers. Also Cinco, I'm sorry about your foot, that sounds like a nightmare situation.
  22. Sorry I missed it guys!! I got caught up with something and it was suddenly 10pm. I’ve seen this movie a bunch though so I should be able to join in on Monday
