    Episode 84: RE-ANIMATOR

Why are people still voting on this?

    THE CANON IS COMING BACK!!!

Oh shit, I didn't see that! Thanks!

    THE CANON IS COMING BACK!!!

Where did she say all of this?

    THE CANON IS COMING BACK!!!

Do we have any kind of date for the new episode? I still have a couple of the old ones saved on my phone, but they're not enough.

    THE CANON IS COMING BACK!!!

I just want to point out that it was alleged, but never proven, that he did this, unless there's been some new development that I haven't seen.

    Knock Out Poll (Unofficial!)

I will never understand you people who like Slacker. Not only is it not a good example of what it is, but I'd go so far as to call it a bad movie. It reminds me of a bad student film. Also, I'm getting tired of this "We need to kick this movie out because this similar movie is still in here" argument, and we need to stop it unless we're going to be consistent. No one's calling to kick out Goodfellas because The Godfather is also in the canon, even though their both gangster movies about people spiraling downwards and losing what makes them human. There can be more than one similar movie if they're both significant versions of whatever they are.

    A Nightmare on Elm Street

Don't you dare make me have to make that fucking decision. I won't do it, I tell ya! But yes, A Nightmare On Elm Street definitely deserves its own discussion.

    M (1931)

I feel that M is so great, and there's so much to talk about in it, that the time allotted for it in a vs episode couldn't do it justice.

    Knock-Out Suggestions

The number of people mentioning Re-Animator makes me sad.

    Knock-Out Suggestions

My suggestions are Slacker, Working Girl, or Pennies From Heaven.

    Herschell Gordon Lewis Movie

This may not be one of the first that comes to mind, but The Gore Gore Girls has always been my favorite.

    Films Directed by Women

I'd easily go for anything directed by Larisa Sheptiko, Agnes Varda, or Chantal Akerman. I'd also like to throw out there that the entire Slumber Party Massacre series was directed by women. Don't know if anyone would vote any of them in (other than me), but I do think that the fact that those all came from women could make an interesting discussion.

    Episode #91: LABYRINTH

Haven't gotten around to watching this to vote yet, but I just wanted to say that I appreciate Devin's mention of Sliders. It's always the first things I think of when I think of Jerry O'Connell.
  14. I surprisingly wasn't able to find a list already on letterboxd, so I made one in case anyone was interested. http://letterboxd.co...e-21st-century/ Edit: I just found several lists when looking at the bottoms of some of the films' pages. I swear, none of them showed up when I searched for it.

    Episode #90: PENNIES FROM HEAVEN

The Rocky Horror Picture Show made it in.

    Homework: Pennies from Heaven (1981)

I haven't watched this yet, so I don't know how I'll be voting. However I vote, though, I'll be kind of sad for Amy if it doesn't make it in, while Re-Animator did (which I voted a big yes on, just sayin').

    Episode #89: BLAZING SADDLES

I went no because I legitimately don't think it's that great. I like it ok, but I guess I don't find it as funny as everyone else seems to.

    Episode #89: BLAZING SADDLES

I really should like this more than I do. This is my second time watching it, having not seen it in maybe 10 years, and just like the last time, I didn't find it all that funny. It has nothing to do with the racial stuff. If anything, that's what I found the funniest. Mel Brooks movies as a whole have just always felt like the jokes were too easy to really be funny to me, but I could still appreciate things like The Producers or Young Frankenstein. Ultimately, I only really chuckled a few times, and found myself quite bored with most of it. I don't know, maybe in a few more years it will click with me, but for now, I have to go with a no.

The Nutty Professor: Original VS Remake

I don't think either are Canon worthy, but I'd probably go with the remake just because I can't stand Jerry Lewis.

    What About Short Films?

It's not like Bunuel can only have one film in the canon. While I do like Exterminating Angel better, Un Chien Andalou is a masterpiece of early surrealist film making, thus I would say it deserves its shot.

    Episode #87: THE GENERAL

I really like Sherlock Jr., but this is Keaton's masterpiece as far as I'm concerned. On first viewings, the pro-Confederacy/glorification of war aspects kinda threw me off, but if can not take those too seriously, this is apparently one of the best films ever made. Big yes! As for Greed, a big problem with doing an episode on it is that it hasn't had a home video release since laserdisc, but catching it on TV or finding it online is about the only way to watch it. On the plus side, you won't have to worry about watching the super long version since it hasn't been known to exist for almost a hundred years. The most complete version available is a bit over two hours long. There is a four hour version, but the extra run time consists of still photos and excerpts from the book, so it's probably only really worth watching as a curiosity. Chances are, the original version will never be seen again.

    Episode #87: THE GENERAL (1926)

I was about to say that this will be the first silent movie, but forgot that we have also done Sunrise. Very excited for this episode!

    Episode 86: BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S

They're taking a week off due to both of them travelling and haven't decided what the next one will be yet. It'll probably be posted here at some point before the episode is released.

    Top Gun

I'm really surprised Amy hasn't suggested this one. I'd vote no, but I agree it's probably worth discussing.
