    THE CANON IS COMING BACK!!!

Straight from Amy herself, The Canon is coming back!!! She was on the latest episode of the Denzel Washington is the Greatest Actor of All Time Period podcast, and she said The Canon is coming back early next Spring! This is awesome news! You can hear it for yourself at the link below. She talks about it a little after the 18 minute mark! http://www.earwolf.c...-amy-nicholson/ Can't wait for some fresh Canon goodness!!!

    Letterboxd Links

I'll throw mine into the mix, too: http://letterboxd.com/StickmanCinema/ Although I haven't been the most active poster on this forum (the most activity I've generated was starting the "Is Devin a racist?" poll and thread) I really enjoyed reading the interactions between fellow film fans. And though this may mark the end of The Canon podcast, let's try and keep the community strong.

    POLL: Is Devin a Racist?

As suggested by Devin himself in the episode for Kiki's Delivery Service, here is a poll to answer the question on all our minds...Is Devin Faraci a racist??? Be sure to vote and weigh in on this very important topic with comments below!

    Loud Theater Audiences

At the end of the Blair Witch episode, Amy, Devin and Simon touched on loud audiences in the theater and how Simon was looking forward to watching Blair Witch with as rowdy a crowd as possible. I gotta say I'm in agreement, depending on the movie of course, that a rowdy crowd can sometimes really enhance the experience. One of my favorite movie going experiences was for, of all things, Freddy vs Jason. I watched it Saturday night, opening weekend at Whitestone Cinemas in the Bronx (which is sadly now closed). It was like being at a title fight. The crowd was electric! Shouting stuff at the screen, hooting and hollering while cheering on their favorite. It was a hell of a time. Really added to the whole thing. There have been other times when this went down (mostly horror flicks, naturally) but that had to be the most memorable one for me. Anyone else have a similar experience they can recall?

    Loud Theater Audiences

Oh man, I would LOVE to see Sleepaway Camp with a theater full of people that know nothing about it! That must've been a next level reaction.

    Battle of the Bowie Bulge

Ha! You beat me to setting up this poll. Props to you, Holden. I'm voting no piece. I think Bowie is hanging free and easy on this one.

Showgirls. ...ok no, but seriously it should be Robocop.

    Episode 84: RE-ANIMATOR

The thing that has always bothered me about the "we already have a movie of this kind in The Canon" argument is that it basically just boils down to which movie was chosen for an episode first, as opposed to judging each film on its own merits. Let's say Re-Animator happened to be done on a prior episode and got in, does that mean Evil Dead II would have to be kept out just because it came up on a later date? If you wanna vote no on a film like Re-Animator because you don't think it's Canon-worthy, that's fine. But to vote no on a film simply because another one of its type got in first is silly to me.

Berry Gordy's The Last Dragon My ultimate guilty pleasure but also has a ton of quotes and moments (pretty much anything related to Sho'nuff) that have entered the pop culture lexicon.

    POLL: Is Devin a Racist?

This is probably the best response I've read to anything, ever.

    Homework: Re-Animator (1985)

Man, Herbert West is one of the all time great horror movie characters. Combs is off the charts in this.

    Episode 83: KIKI'S DELIVERY SERVICE

Lesser Miyazaki is still Miyazaki, which is to say pretty incredible. Though I would love to see one of the "slam dunks" from his filmography get into The Canon (particularly Totoro), Kiki's would still be a fine addition. Thumbs up for me.

    Homework: Re-Animator (1985)

This movie is sick and twisted in all of the best ways possible. To those who have never seen this movie, I envy you. There is nothing quite like the experience of seeing this for the first time. Definite Yes for me on this one.

HDTGM movies and their RT scores

Fun fact: the only two positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes for Speed 2: Cruise Control are from Siskel and Ebert.

What are the most Canon worthy films of this decade?

    Ha! That's a killer analogy.
  19. 1. The Last Dragon 2. The Last Dragon 3. The Last Dragon 4. The Last Dragon 5. Grease 2.....tied with The Last Dragon

What are the most Canon worthy films of this decade?

Random thought just occurred to me, but it's pretty telling that Birdman hardly gets mentioned in these type of discussions...

    Episode 79: THE USUAL SUSPECTS

Yes!!! So, so glad Devin & Amy dug this movie as much as I do. A lot of movies when you know the twist they fall apart or don't lend themselves too well to repeat viewings. In this one, the twist breaks the movie wide open to discussion and interpretation (Devin's Kobayashi/Keyser Soze theory is further proof of that). And beyond that, the movie is just so well made and entertaining as hell. It's immensely watchable and quotable (it's one my friends and I constantly throw around lines from) and just such a well constructed piece of cinema.

Episode 78: BOYZ N THE HOOD

I saw this movie A LOT as a kid (It was on HBO all the time) and it had a profound effect on me. Revisiting it as an adult, I'll admit its flaws are a bit more glaring and agree with Devin that there are movies which have done this theme better (Menace II Society is chief among them). But it's still a definite yes for me. Its influence is undeniable, the themes are still relevant and there are some really, really strong performances here (Fishburne and Cube are crazy good). I jumped (screaming) off the Amy boat after that insufferable Se7en episode, but I'm back on board after this one.

    Homework: The Usual Suspects (1995)

YES!!! I absolutely adore this movie. It's definitely one I enjoy revisiting and I can't wait to hear this episode! Though I should probably taper my enthusiasm. If Devin or Amy (or both) end up disliking it, I'm not sure my heart could take the hit. **bracing myself**
