Episode 154 β€” LIVE from LA Podfest 2014

Ian's child character threatening to "move in with Todd" gave me an enjoyable mental image of him and Todd eating grounded meat every night with Aunt Scott. I'm intertextual like that.
  2. I'm not sure if this is at all funny, but I enjoy saying it.

Episode 307 β€” Ruth’s Ross Dress For Loss

I get your point, but I feel like it was no different than any other time a real celebrity comes on the show having never heard it before. CBB has a uniquely crazy vibe, and I think it can catch people off-guard who aren't prepared to dive into the insanity head first (though it's always awesome when they do). Still, they aren't improvisers, so I admire them jumping in as much as they did. My guess is that if/when the D returns, they will CRUSH IT.

Episode 300 β€” Oh, Golly! You Devil

This episode is fan service of the highest order, as well as a great victory lap for the Zouks-Daly saga that spans all the way back to the Bill Carter episode in 2010! Five years and 300 episodes in, CBB remains the comedy podcast of record. Thanks so much to Scott and everyone else involved. All that said, I have to admit I still don't quite have a handle on Danny's whole D-battery situation. Can anyone clear this up?

    Episode 177 β€” Ugly Billionaires

Great, funny episode! Natasha fits perfectly into the vibe of the show, and Kumail is as reliable a guest as ever. Also, I work at a movie theater in Knoxville, and I can attest to the growing church-supported Christian movie phenomenon discussed in this episode. In just the past couple months, we've gotten Son of God, God is (Not) Dead, and Heaven is for Real, and all of them have done gangbusters relative to how cheap these things must be to make. There have even been a few private screenings where a church will buy out a whole theater and the preacher will give a sermon after the film is over. The whole thing feels very cynical and money-driven to me. Filmmakers keep cranking out these cheap, shitty movies with Christian themes, and then church leaders latch onto them as a way to make their message seem more accessible. It's really starting to feel like an industry unto itself, and everyone involved stands to gain something... except people who enjoy watching good movies.

Episode 9 β€” Slowing It Down

This podcast is starting to feel like a fever dream. ****/****

    Episode 280 β€” DuALity

I'm going to have to insist that we hear more of that Bill Murray impression at some point. "Uh, gotta go, it's in the hole."

    Episode 5 β€” Achtung Baby?

I actually think it might be a pretty good idea to have a bridge episode like this between each album. If we're really going to learn every single piece of U2 trivia on this show, there's always going to be a lot to talk about besides the albums themselves. Plus, more bits is always good.

Episode 125 β€” Live from SXSW!

This episode truly was phenomenal. Everyone was on fire, and Shannon was great enough to make me look forward to her first i4h studio episode. Maybe an all-time top 5 favorite episode for me as well.

    What's up, hotting dog?

Multilayered. Two layers, to be exact.

Will We Get a Farts and Procreation 4?!

I feel like that's what U Talkin' U2 to Me? is ultimately building to. Harris is already in for tomorrow's episode; it seems like only a matter of time until Chaz Palminteri herself show up.
  12. Perfectly put. I think it's important to realize that the joke is never ON the "girls" or anyone else treated horribly by Don and Co. No one is actually laughing at the thought of a woman being killed by a wolf (hopefully not, anyway); the joke is how horribly evil these guys are and how casually they discuss the horrible things that they do. That's actually kind of the brilliance of Andy Daly, I think. From this tact, the more horrible or gruesome the things his characters do/say, the funnier it is for the character to be sharing them with the world. Maybe that's why this episode was so, so good; unless Hot Dog has some serious surprises in store for us, I don't think the ADPPP will ever go darker than this, because it will never again center on a group of people this outright nefarious.

    Episode 275 β€” LIVE from SXSW 2014

Maybe the weirdest first segment in CBB history? Loving it so far.
  14. Will you frolic with me in this creme de menthe?

Will you frolic with me in this creme de menthe?

    ...bump?
  16. I wasn't sure if anything could ever top the Chip Gardner episode, but this one was just spectacular. So dark, and so hilarious. I will say, however, that I was horrified for a moment by the possibility of Marissa Wompler being a casualty to the vortex of terror that is Don DiMello. Glad she had the wherewithal to get out in time.

Episode 65 β€” The Cavern Explosion

A lot of good points have been made here, leading me to think that a whole lot of fuck-ups definitely occurred on all sides of the table. I feel like that's how these types of acopalyptic disasters occur: people aren't playing at the top of their game, and a string of damaging mistakes are made. But then again, in a campaign that has already run this long on such an erratic schedule, keeping up with the constant flow of items and stat upkeep seems like somethign akin to a full-time job. Also, with this being a room full of comedians, everyone tends to feel the need to be "on" at all times, which might make it easy to value the conversation over the most careful of play. Honestly, I figured they were all fucked from the moment they crash-landed on this planet. The chances of finding another working spacecraft in what is basically a man rat-infested zombie wasteland seemed somewhat remote. Still, I really hope we get to hear a character give that old man what-for by the end of the campaign.

    Episode 274 β€” Oh, Golly!

If this is to be an ongoing saga, it at the very least sets up an alternate timestream from the ADPPP Chip Gardner episode where Carol Channing is clearly revealed to be Satan herself. I think the best way to resolve this is to bring in Jamie Denbo for the sequel and just let everyone hash it out. That would be something to hear!

    Episode 274 β€” Oh, Golly!

Maybe my favorite Mantzoukas quote yet (the fact that it's really a Bill Paxton quote just makes it all the better):

    Episode 274 β€” Oh, Golly!

    This lineup is NEXT-LEVEL BONKERS.
  21. No shit, I've wanted to hear the Scotts continue their conversation about U2 ever since that episode of CDR all those years ago. So crazy that it actually exists now. It just goes to show that there's not a stone's throw of negative in dreaming.
  22. CrustyDustReceptacle

Episode 272 β€” Sex Party Season

It really was sort of a Greatest Hits of PFT/Choctaw running bits. One of the greatest pleasures of this show over the years has always been Scott's commitment to never letting good bits like these go. Week after week, attentive listening is always richly rewarded by the countless callbacks, and there's an ever-growing collection of material to draw from. It's a nifty little comedic universe these guys have built here.
  23. I imagine it's basically like the melted head from Raiders of the Lost Ark, after it's had some time to scab over. I actually got a laugh at the thought of him maybe wearing one of those horrific masks he discussed on CBB while hosting this show.
  24. I meant that I think this could be the first series (or miniseries, I guess) where every single episode is a perfect distillation of a great comedic sensibility. Even my favorite shows have an off day every once in a while, but it seems like Andy and Co. are really swinging for the fences in every one of these. It's very exciting.
  25. I feel like something strangely important is happening with this show. Could we have the first masterpiece of podcasting on our hands here?
