Episode 85: BOOGIE NIGHTS vs TWBB

I assume Amy means Soderbergh's THE GIRLFRIEND EXPERIENCE. I like Sasha Grey as an actress. OPEN WINDOWS was a good one.
  2. I was coming here to suggest this too. I'd like more comedy up for consideration in general.

Elmer Gantry vs A Face in the Crowd

Not bad, but I think A FACE IN THE CROWD vs. ACE IN THE HOLE feels a little more like an even match.

    Defending Your Life

I like it. Did you see the video Brooks just made because all his directorial efforts are on Netflix now?

    Episode 84: RE-ANIMATOR

I'm staying out of the vote, because I neither love nor hate RE-ANIMATOR enough to pick a side. I'm here because I like an inclusive Canon. Amy asks, "Would you show an alien EVIL DEAD II or RE-ANIMATOR?" Well, what if the alien says, "Wow, EVIL DEAD II was great, what else do you recommend?" I'm not sure why this argument comes up again and again, apart from the fact one of the hosts is just peeved they had watch and talk about the other host's pick. The "we've already got one" argument is just not valid. "Sorry, we aren't going to add CITIZEN KANE, because we agreed to include TOUCH OF EVIL, so we're good for expressionist Orson Welles movies." That kind of thing sounds dumb, right? Right?

    Episode 82: THEY LIVE

A smart, entertaining, crazy flick. I'm all for it in The Canon. Kind of surprised nobody stumbled upon (or at least mentioned) the fact that philosopher Slavoj Zizek kicked off his documentary "The Pervert's Guide to Ideology" with a fairly lengthy discussion of THEY LIVE. Here's a Youtube clip:
  7. After I got into BREAKING BAD, I decided to check out what else showrunner Vince Gilligan had on his resume. He has written 2 batshit features: HOME FRIES and WILDER NAPALM. Both of them try to balance extremely dark stuff with quirky romantic comedy, and they both just come off like schizo experiments gone awry. Have any of you folks seen these things? It looks like they're both currently up in full on Youtube. Home Fries: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNtVCXLsvBE Wilder Napalm: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1UUyL1k4qk
