I used to be able to download free episodes last year on my home computer, but it seems to be no longer the case. Also tried Itunes but can';t seem to make that work either. any help appreciated

Click the Share (arrow) button in the upper right corner of the player embedded on the episode page. There should be a download option in the menu. If you don't see those buttons, try using a different browser or temporarily disabling your ad blocker.

Are we still able to download recent episodes? I tried on the earwolf website and the download buttons don't seem to work for me. I'm willing to chalk this up to me being stupid but I'm not sure why it's not working.

The "Download" links have been broken since Earwolf switched to Omny for hosting, which provides no way of downloading files via their player or web site UI. 👍

Your best bet is to use something like Player.fm, which has a hidden "Download/Open" option under the "…" menu. Or you could subscribe to the RSS feed in a normal RSS reader like Feedly.

Correction: Something about my Firefox config prevents the "Share" menu from showing up in the embedded player, but there's a "Download" option there in Safari and Chrome.

  3. As the person charged with cleaning up the mess when real trolls show up here, OP's criticism of the show is pretty mild. HDTGM has unquestionably gotten more political since 2016, going so far as to publish minisodes about June's book and an interview with a local politician. I skipped those, not because they don't align with my politics—I'm an atheist feminist who would be delighted by either a Warren (sigh) or Sanders presidency—but because my podcast time is increasingly rare these days and I can barely keep up with the main episodes, let alone side missions.

When this thread was started, I hoped it would be met with the stony silence it deserves and then forgotten, since it doesn't violate any of the stated forum rules or warrant deletion. Some of the responses are getting close, though.

He said in the "promo" section of the show at the end about a website that had 1000s of playlists that one of the producers had worked on that chronicles the history of music, and said hed post the link on the website. I couldnt find where that section on the site would be (or could i remember the name of  the producer or website). Does anyone know the link? (or any other relevant information) Thanks!

Paul was talking about the Richmond Anthology of Music, created by Earwolf producer Josh Richmond. He also set up the @RAMAnthology Twitter account to automatically tweet excerpts every day.

Also has anyone else noticed that Jason interrupts June way more than normal and she sounds very not thrilled with it - especially in live episodes and this one i feel. Kind of makes it uncomfortable to listen to kind of like when John Glazer went on Pete Holmes podcast and he mentioned getting a role over Glazer and he then immediately goes cold. Kinda felt like that. I’m sure touring is very exhausting and stressful and must be especially so for june as she is a working mother/badass, but it just made me feel tense and i love the show and all 3 hosts so it made me worried.

I can't remember whether it was on an episode or her social media but, when listeners raised this issue a few years ago, June released a statement that essentially said "I am honored that you all care and are speaking up on my behalf but everything's fine!" June has only grown in her power since then, and definitely knows how to shut people down with devastating precision when necessary. I get the feeling that tight editing and the lack of body language sometimes make the live shows seem more frenetic than they really are.

I *cannot* be the only one that LOOOVES 'Comedy Bang Bang' but never laughed at 'The Monster F*ck'?  And it won "best of" !  Sheesh.  I get the vibe PFT isn't a big fan of that little number, either.

You can watch Paul's reaction to the most recent performance for yourself. (Spoiler alert: you're wrong.)

From the episode, it sounds like June has never seen any of the original Star Wars.  I would have liked/been curious to have had her as an extra guest, so we could get the response of someone to Star Wars who encountered it for the first time as an adult.

If it's any consolation, Lauren Lapkus and Nicole Byer are recording a podcast where they watch all the Star Wars movies for the first time.

  8. Programming note: Earwolf is migrating its files to a new hosting service and, as a result, every HDTGM episode is currently available for download. If you want to save them before they once again disappear behind the paywall, now would be a good time. You can plug the new feed URL into an RSS reader or see this set of direct links to every mainline (i.e. non-minisode/rerelease/bonus) episode:

  10. Paul & Amy say buona sera to 1974’s epic mobster sequel The Godfather Pt. II! They analyze Robert De Niro’s Sicilian, learn which US president loved the film, and ask if this sequel really covers territory not covered by the first film. Plus: Tom Santopietro, author of The Godfather Effect, talk about how the Godfather films have affected the Italian-American community.

  11. More than anything, watching this reinforced my belief that all of George Lucas's great successes were thanks to someone preventing him from shooting himself in the foot. Left to his own devices, he makes dumb decisions like tacking on the tone-deaf epilogue. Coppola script-doctored American Graffiti, Marcia Lucas's steady hand rescued A New Hope from incomprehensible gibberish, and Irvin Kershner prevented the Star Wars franchise from CFIT. Ditto Spielberg and Indiana Jones.

As far as coming-of-age tales go, American Graffiti feels like the promise that the future once held in my youth, whereas The Last Picture Show feels like the grim reality I should have expected. I rated both of them 4/5 stars on Letterboxd. Breaking Away isn't on the AFI list yet it sits at the exact midpoint between them.

Oh my god that's so beautiful though! I truly went back and forth about something simple vs a realistic portrait but honestly there's this tattoo artist that does some of the best portrait work I've ever seen. So I've decided to save my money to travel to him!

Wow, those are so good that I worry I'd travel all the way to Belgium only to discover they were photoshopped!

I've been planning on a Marilyn tattoo for quite some time, and I want it done absolutely the best it could possibly be so I gotta start saving a tooon of money for it lol.

You say this and all I can picture is something like comedian/podcaster Erin McGathy's Julie Andrews tattoo.
