    Episode 55.5 — Minisode 55.5

i watched "Nothing But Trouble" again, after having not seen it for several years. I spent the whole time thinking "this movie hates me." and that, i think, would be the best tagline for this movie: Nothing But Trouble: The movie that hates you.

    Highlander II: The Quickening (1991)

i absolutely agree with this recommendation. and as for the pacing of the movie... i think the overwhelming "dumbness" of the movie makes it a captivating watch. incidentally, this movie is almost perfect if you haven't seen the first one because it basically retcons everything anyway.

In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale

    i second this one.

    Dragon Wars: D-War (2007)

D-War: Dragon Wars! this movie is... it's simply incredible. it's almost on the level of Birdemic in terms of plot, acting, sound and script, but with pretty good CGI. i first saw the movie with Rifftrax commentary and loved it so much that i've seen it several times. there is a scene where a character walks through a wall in front of an old woman--after seeing this, the old woman TRIED TO WALK THROUGH THE WALL AND SMACKS HER FACE INTO IT. this is a movie where millions of people die and nobody seems to care, a guy is essentially stalked by a giant lizard; and twice within the first ten or so minutes of the movie, characters ask: "What are you talking about?" it's sooooo good, and it's posted on youtube for some reason in it's entirety. i think this is a great candidate. P.S. also: Highlander II: The Quickening, Paranormal Activity and Laser Mission (starring Brandon Lee--and is available on youtube).

    Southland Tales (2006)

i don't have anything really insightful to say; i just wanted to add that i think this "next-level bonkers" disaster would be an excellent candidate for the show. ok, maybe i do have some stuff to say: ugh. i -- UGH. i HATED this movie. i watched this movie with a friend (the sort of person who 'tries to like' films like this), and was pissed when it finished. i hated this movie because it's the kind of movie that comes with a built-in excuse for its terribleness: you don't like it because you don't "get" it. this is partially true; i absolutely did not get this movie. i mean, i "got" it; in that i understand that it appears to be a film "about" a bunch of somewhat disparate ideas clumsily smashed in a box and sealed with smug satisfaction. and it's not even a fun watch! this movie is like two hours of homework. this movie sucks, guys. it's a bummer. PLEASE do this movie.
