"Album of B-sides", I'd never really thought of it that way, but out really does describe the record pretty well. That being said, Scott really does have a bit too restrictive a definition of what a "song" is. Also, I love "Half A World Away". It goes a long way toward redeeming this album's missteps. And I never did see what the big deal with "Country Feedback" was.

I like "I Remember California". But then, I'm not from there. "Hairshirt", on the other hand, well, I'm not surprised to find it was all ad-libbed. Kinda surprised how quickly Scott jumped off the R.E.M. train, all the way back here at Green. The rest of this podcast is gonna be interesting, particularly once they get to Up and beyond.

Saw them at their height in an arena that is currently a national park? Righteous.

Only saw them once, and it was late, Sasquatch Festival 2008. They played "Harborcoat" then too.

I discovered "Looking For Clues" and "Tall Trees" through the Scott & Scott subpodcasts. Once I'm not so lazy, I should make a playlist.

"Time After Time"? I'd say "Second Guessing" and "Letter Never Sent" are where I start tuning out on the album. "Seven Chinese Brothers", on the other hand, just absolutely gorgeous. I feel kinda bad for the Scotts for discovering "Voice of Harold" first.

Haaarriemmm For as much as "Dollar Bill Strawberry" made me laugh out loud, "Buckbury" rolls off the tongue easier.

Bah. The part where they speculate on doing an R.E.M. podcast was just a tease. I won't get my hopes up. I won't.

He must also have been the guy who tried to "heynongman" Jason, who shot that down pretty quick.

I guess I'm the only one who laughed out loud at JCVD ducking that semi truck after re-emerging in 1994 the second time. *shrug* The problem of 2004 JCVD meeting his nine-year-old son for the first time could have been avoided just by having him die in the 1994 climax of the movie. Not only would this make for somewhat less flawed logic, but it would add much-needed gravitas to the film (can't remember if this movie was released during award season).

Much like Technicality No Down Boo over, I think Agree To Disagree, Fair Enough, Good Riddance would be a good t-shirt.

Looks like my longstanding policy of skipping those episodes has been justified. Still, the gang loves doing them, the fans love them, so I don't think they're gonna stop. Whereas they definitely stopped enjoying the Sharknado movies, which I also skipped.

As far as nostalgia goes, is there any chance that we, as a culture, could just skip the early 2000's entirely?

I haven't got any emails yet either, and so this bonus show thing is still just weird Twitter grapevine stuff. I reckon the jump from Largo and other smaller theaters to selling 1000+ tickets in a morning has everyone a bit discombobulated.

Are all the Sandlot fans taking this week off?

I'd say it's certainly worth watching. Just be prepared for lots of cringing. I recall liking Peta Wilson as Mina Harker and generally preferring her to Kate Beckinsdale in Underworld. But she seems to be out in daylight an awful lot without any explanation. Yeah, the second volume is where Moore really Moores all over it.

Action-type movies are usually go-to. I like the ones with fantasy/sci-fi elements where they can really dig into the rules or internal consistency of the movie, or more often the lack thereof. Good for June theorizing. I do like when they do romances too, because those are usually rife with bad psychology or gender relations. What I don't like is the "critic-proof" b-movie or otherwise intentionally crazy stuff like Hell Comes To Frogtown or the Sharknado movies, or Fast and Furious for that matter. I wish they would do more "serious" fare whether it be dark and edgy (Devil's Advocate, Color Of Night) or failed Oscar bait like Winter's Tale or current candidate Collateral Beauty. The unintentional comedy is what makes for a special podcast experience, and if it's got magical realism then it ties back into my first paragraph. I re-listened to Winter's Tale recently, and it reduced Jason to a screaming mess, which is also a special podcast experience.

Too bad the microphones didn't pick up my startled "Oh damn!" from the audience when Paul announced the improv location. Yeah, I was there, and I'm from Boise. We do actually have Fantastic Sams, but everything else was spot on. We are scared Satanists. Also, when Paul was talking about what a waste of time going to Mars would be, a lot of the crowd reaction was to Howard smiling and nodding. His feelings on Space are well known to Chartists.
