Ep. 249 — Deadly Mile High Club
Elektra Boogaloo replied to Cameron H.'s topic in How Did This Get Made?
Sorry for the double post earlier. I wanted to let youn know that Google Lens identifies the “hard pink” hat as this one and sends you to Walmart. $14.95 Walmart misidentified the color as “hot” pink, sadly. Now, I had melanoma and the doctor suggested I wear more hats/layers. You need to protect yourself from UV radiation every day, and maybe I don’t want to bathe in chemical sunscreen each morning. Anyway, hats can be difficult to pull off. I do have a blush Panama hat and my sister called it a fedora once and I haven’t worn it since. There is a real stigma to a fedora. As, @grudlian. points out, this one isn’t a fedora either (trilby hats are usually made of inferior material to fedoras, and that one looks very cheap. Not going to give you good UPF at all.) So Not is it a hard pink, it’s also a hard (as in difficult) hat. It was a real choice. And wearing it inside? Why? Imagine sitting behind her in class. -

IThis Okay but let’s say your life depends on it (maybe it’s a Money Plane bet) and you HAVE to fly with a celebrity pilot, who do you trust? Sure, Harrison Ford has a “series” of crashes, but what if. WHAT IF. Underneath his human face, he is Launchpad McQuackin disguise? Eta important update: -

I listened and I am concerned for Cody, having to open these packages. Does Earwolf give good healthcare and insurance? I have concerns. -

Whoa. Wasn’t aware this was up already. Just donated. Does anyone know why it’s Transformers 2 and not 1? Do I have to watch it? -
Episode 248 Velocipastor

Feathers make them more scary. Birds are mean. My sister got attacked by a swan and they don’t have teeth. Plus I know from comic characters like Archangel and Falcon that feathers can be used like projectile knives. That’s just science. -

I think that signing it “D” is even funnier than “Dylan” because I would immediately think he was talking about his dick. Or maybe quoting his dick in the text? -

Episode 246 - Swordfish: LIVE!

About Hugh Jackman's towel. (Which was a formative moment for young Elektra). I believe it is a sarong or a longyi, kind of what surfers wear--which is super in character for a hacker nerd. This was only Hugh Jackman's third American film. So if they had an ending like the Prestige, then it would've been the Prestige that copied Swordfish, I guess. (Except Prestige was based on a book that was published before this so it would've been Prestige copied by Swordfish which was copied by the Prestige.) Very meta. I remember very little of this movie but I have some memories of the press tour. It was all about how Halle Berry got paid extra to show her boobs. And I remember and interview with Hugh Jackman where he was very impressed by John Travolta's knowledge of food. Here is a disturbing video that I never got out of my head: ETA: the other thing. To Jason’s point that Halle Berry and Hugh Jackman seemed to know each other. ... they do. They just did X-Men together! And it was such a traumatic experience (see link) so maybe they are just relieved to see the other one survived and forgot to act. I am sad Jason doesn’t remember how June loves a plane movie, but happy to know that Paul and June’s first date was “Snakes on a Plane.”

Is this Money Plane movie worth watching? I am very busy getting things done at maybe 1/3rd of the speed I usually get things done... -
The plot description of this from Wikipedia is: Do we think someone edited this to be funny? Should we add Ron Silva?

Dunno if anyone cares but AGENTS OF SHIELD had a “Chopping Mall” homage this week. And if anyone is watching ALONE, I think Roland is scary. -
Episode 243 - The Peanut Butter Solution

The fact that forum posters are confirming that, in Canada, this movie is shown to young children has me rethinking everything I know about Canada. ”Paul was actually kicked in the face and has a scar.” AND YOU ARE ONLY BRINGING THIS UP NOW. This is huge news. I wonder what Marcus Lemonis would think of Signore’s business. -

I saw Gutenberg on the HDTGM instagram today and screamed. Love him. And he mentioned PARTY DOWN, which made me happy. Paul and June were both on that show and the Guttenberg Birthday Party episode is one I think about a lot. (Fleet of blimps) also this weekend I watched ALONE and FLOOR IS LAVA. Thumbs up to both. How gonna watch Steve Guttenberg’s Birthday agains because I just noticed that is the full episode! ETA: @gigi-tastic since I am forum!june and Cameron is forum!paul (how are you today, Cameron?), I feel like I should offer you my emotional support services. I haven’t watched it either. Cameron, who is the Jason of our group? -
It's like "Season of the Witch" but with more Vin Diesel! Perfect for you guys!

I was listening to the NINJA III ep and they talked about how weird the cops are in that film. And it got me thinking, who are the worst cops in HDTGM movies? Because it seems to be a real recurring theme. is it Ham and Cheats with their comedy mustaches? Is it Action Jackson’s department that doesn’t appreciate that he is a hero? Drunken Michael Fassbender in the Snowman? I feel like there are a lot of options here. And I want to discuss. Let’s say something bad happens to your family, who do you DEFINITELY NOT want to be assigned to the case?

Ooh. The Harry and Meghan movie had a good one of these when he finds out Katherine Heigl is on SUITS. It’s 1:01:30 or thereabouts. Also love the June slam about the audience members’ accent. Would love a “June Slam” category if anyone can think of more.

I didn’t mean to be like “you guys aren’t doing enough” but I was trying to think of something actionable that the podcast could undertake. I am sure the 8% is correct where you are. In LA it is 11%. Let’s round down to 10. They have done 241 movies. I would argue they shoot try to have had 24 Black guests or thereabouts? And I don’t meant to say they have not because I can think of Nicole, Tawny Newsome, Hannibal Burress, Colton Dunn and Rhetta off the top of my head. I think they have had a fair number but maybe not 24. I could look at the list of guests on Wikipedia but I am lazy. Was just trying to be helpful not critical. Sorry i I have little to say about the film. I didn’t watch it. I do love the music in that clip. And I really hope we get “How Did We Get Scheer” category or supercut in the Howdies. I posted some time stamps of other examples in the Howdies thread if anyone knows how to do supercuts. -

I appreciate what was said at the top about BLM and such. I am sure Reddit will hate it. One thing I would like to ask that the podcast do is try to have more people of color as guests. I know the guests are often friends and I get that, but sometimes that kind of insular community stands in the way of introducing new voices. I discount Nicole Byer through this podcast (and Girl Code gifs on Tumblr) and I couldn't be happier to have her in my life. I don't mean never have white people but make a concerted effort for more diversity? -
Episode 240.5 — Minisode 240.5

If Paul doesn't know your name it means he likes you and doesnt want to mispronounce it maybe? I can't believe Anonymous asked for MG children's books that are also movies when our dear friend Daniel Radcliffe has been on this podcast! (Probably why she didn't leave her name. FLIPPED and HOLES are also good one offs if you don't want to commit to the whole HP series.)
