  1. Two planks of wood fall in love. Not the plot to Pixar's next short, but rather the impression you'll get of the lead actors in this movie. This movie is so confusing, even the title is mystifying (is it "Dragon Wars," like the poster says? Or "D-War," like the title card says?). $75 million. "Dragons" named Buraki and Good Imoogi. Robert Forster kicking three random guys' asses. Netflix Streaming.

    Hawk The Slayer (1980)

Starring Jack palance in what is comedically a rip off of lord of the rings with really bad special effects. Even if it doesn't get picked - you *have* to watch it; its pure gold if gold was a steaming pile of faeces.

    Krull (1983)

Imperial Stormtroopers invade a Dungeons and Dragons-themed wedding, Liam Neeson multiclasses as a Barbarian/Polygamist, men are murdered with wobbly rubber spikes, and not even the polystyrene rocks are safe. As a testament to the film's overall production philosophy, the female lead (played by a British actress) was re-dubbed by an American actress in post. The original actress didn't know this was happening until the studio informed her after the fact. Apply that level of flippancy to nearly every aspect of film making, and you might wind up with Krull. According to Wikipedia, that bastion of truth, "The film made over $16.5 million domestically, failing to bring back its reported budget of over $45–50 million. However, it has gained a cult following over the years since its release." You can watch it on Amazon Instant or even pick up the DVD that features cast and crew commentary that might make you want to open a vein. Here's . Enjoy! Or don't!

    Ratboy (1986)

Don't even know what to say about this one...but it would be insightful to learn how this actually got made. I remember seeing this on tv...vaguely.

    Ninja Apocalypse

This is a post apocalyptic fantasy martial arts remake of "The Warriors." http://youtu.be/PVKmBZ0IhsA I would love to know how this was made.

    Mama

A movie so bad Guillermo del Toro had to slap his name on it to give it some legitimacy. The only way I can understand how this movie received decent reviews is that it was released in January, a month where Hollywood dumps its trash and when you compare it to movies like Gangster Squad and Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters it doesn't seem to stink that bad. This movie deserves a second look. Jessica Chastain as a punk rocker? A hilarious, poorly conceived, unscary CGI ghost woman. It exhausts every horror movie cliche until the film shifts tones completely in the third act and becomes utterly ridiculous.

    Nerd Poker Forum Soundtrack

What would life be without music? I'm probably as big a fan of music as I am sci-fi/fantasy/role-playing. It seemed like a good idea to get an ever-growing soundtrack going here in the forum. There are a lot of songs that I really feel like listening to when I'm in a heavy role-playing mindset. I'd love to see others share the music they associate with their gaming lifestyle! Thought I'd kick things off with Blue Öyster Cult's "Black Blade", from the 1980 album "Cultösaurus Erectus". Lyrics penned by sci-fi writer Michael Moorcock. A song about Elric of Melniboné's sword Stormbringer.

    Fantasy Football

With football just around the corner, I wanted to know if others citizens from Sklarbro Country have created some clever team names. My team name: Calming Shores Stream Slappers (I wanted to be the Waterfall Punchers but that was too many characters.)
