Episode 22 — Locked In Combat

Recommended Posts

On a suicide escort mission with Sparklett, we join our heroes as they enter the 2nd round of their battle against Lord Noral and his army of guards. They’ve made it this far and must follow Sparklett’s directions to rest the crown from the Lord’s head to be able to seal the rift to the water elemental plane. It’s crunch time as every dice roll counts!

Brian does a mean Nathan Explosion impression. I just started listening and the gang sounds extra exuberant today. The Sir Richard effect maybe?

Edit: ironically Brian goes comatose within 20 minutes. Kickstarter to get these guys central air?

Really don't want to be "that guy" but shouldn't it be "wrest?"

In my game we're facing a baby white dragon and we're pissing our pants in fear. We don't have nothing on the Nerd Poker crew.

Rules Nerd Thing: I would translate Mildred's move square thing to a defensive bonus on someone if you're not using squares.

Ugh... have to wait another week.

Seriously, when Ken made that joke, I HAD to turn this song on for the episode. Am I that guy? Yes. Yes I am.

This episode was so dice-ful. Did you guys set up a special dice mic or something? I liked it. Ken seemed very high energy today, so I'm guessing he thrives in warm weather like a lizard. I agree with him that the crew should also do a Candyland podcast.

"What about a little Glinnish-less?" *giggled*

I've noticed a high frequency of Matrix references in the past few episodes, but Sark made up for it with a nice Dune sandworm comment. My advice to the crew is to swim without rhythm.

The cranky sign off: "You know who I am, and who you are." It was perfection.

Nice shirt dragon born.

Despite the boss fighting, I almost fell asleep from the heat coming through my speakers.

He's overtired! He's not fighting a water elemental king, he's fighting sleep!

Awesome episode. Ken makes me laugh every time.

I'm a little worried about all these big boss monsters and water dragons and shit though. YOU CAN DO IT GUYS

I wonder what happens if Sparklett dies? Is there any way our heroes could use the crown or something?

Maybe the whole party dies.. except for Sir Richard, ironically.

I'm expecting a wipe next week for sure.

Love the show, but wanted to point out that 44 minutes in sir Richard calls the water serpent construct Surtur, the serpent that eats the world. That's actually Jormungand. Sutur is a giant with a fiery sword that brings forth the ragnarok.

I felt compelled to create an account and mention this since the only reason i know this is from listening to Amon Amarth.

Always looking forward to wednesdays. Don't wipe next week!

I wonder if this whole water plane thing was planned from the beginning, or if he came up with it on the spot? Would be interesting if it had been planned from the start. In a way it makes sense that things are so difficult--like, if they had stayed on the ship, they could have gotten there a day or two earlier, and then when they took Spaklett down the water elementals may have still been alive, and they could have helped in the battle with the king... okay, unlikely that Sark had things planned out in THAT much detail, but interesting to think about.

Anyway, if they do get wiped next week, that will suck but I'm looking forward to their next adventure.

Second favorite episode, despite Amarth's apparent nap, (whilst dealing out massive damage points). I had to dig up my dice and let them know I still love them despite my years of neglect.

Can't wait to see what happens!
