Speaking as someone who is anti-death penalty, I don't think it's any more racist than the rest of the justice system. Of course it's very racist--I'm just saying, I don't think taking out the death penalty would make the system much less racist overall. You'd just have more minorities locked up for life instead of on death row. So I think you can be pro death penalty with the qualification that it needs to be carried out better.

In practice, though, people who are pro death penalty almost always are very racist. I think it's because they also tend to be very gung ho about the justice system, and eager to lock people up, in general. That's the real problem. So again, pro death penalty people aren't necessarily racist, but the vast majority are.
