First off, love the Sklars!

Reporting in from FLA, got to add a couple cents to the Bernie Ecclestone F1 supremo discussion.

I follow F1, and there was a time a couple decades ago when F1 had V12 engines, followed by a long period of 10 cylinder engines. The engines were ear splitting screaming, and sounded like they were on the verge of disintegration. For those folks that are not fans, you wouldn't understand. Then a few year back was the switch to V8's. The engines were still loud, but not the screamers of yesteryear.

This year the switch was made to 6 cylinder turbos, and fans are not pleased. Important word there is "fans."

In a few years the sport has gone from screaming engines to what sounds like, in comparison, vacuum cleaners.

Bernie's statement about how he doesn't like the new engine sound & format, is really in a big part his own fault. F1 wanted to get more engine manufacturers into F1, but those manufacturers didn't want to build engines that didn't have a comparable real world use. So the push went from V10, V8, and now 6.

Last year Bernie and the teams visited engine production facilities to hear the new engines, because of the concern of lack of engine noise. They all complained (including Bernie) that the engine noise was going to be a problem. Remember this is Bernie's push, he could also have stopped it. He himself complained about his own project.

In F1 circles, it is seen that Bernie has gotten old, and is losing his grip mentally. (to be fair, he is also responsible for bringing success to F1 for the last three decades)

Here is a video of what the problem is with F1. It is video shot by the same guy, using the same camera, from the same seat in Melbourne Australia it begins with the V8s of 2013 then shifts to the V6 turbos of 2014

and a shot of Bernie after his mugging:
