Episode 198 — Big Long Lie

Recommended Posts

King of Buzzfeed, Louis Peitzman, joins your Summah Sultan Howard, and your Summah Siren Kulap for the last Who Charted of Summah of the Summah season. On this week's heat wave induced episode Louis spills the secrets of Buzzfeed and gives Howard and Kulap a basic rundown of his medical issues. Plus, Howard and Louis bond over Bernadette Peters, British mums and daughters, and unlikely animal friendships, we get an update on Harry Connick Jr.'s work out regiment, Louis' calves, and Australia.

Be sure to check out the new trailer for Kulap’s documentary, Origin Story at http://www.originstorydoc.com/, and support the project by going to its Indiegogo fundraising page: igg.me/at/originstorydoc. Don’t forget to follow us on Twitter and Facebook and #FF @originstorydoc!

Plus, pick up ‘Summah This, Summah That’ at http://howardkremer.bandcamp.com/album/summah-this-summah-that and head to http://teespring.com/gucruiseshirt to pick up your very own Gu Cruise T-shirt.

Don’t miss Howard’s glowing endorsement of Origin Story, available on YouTube.

Only half way through so far, but I was not a fan of how the guest chose to try to make Howie seem more racialist than he really is, KuKu too to a degree. When he was poking fun at that rap song, many of the words were in English, he wasn't making fun of the different language. I felt like he was making the statement that, like Christian rock, their lyrical topics seem limited. When you hear a lot of foreign hip hop/rap, its like all they feel comfortable saying is stuff like "I'm so great" "I'm the greatest ever", which is like Christian rock saying mostly "He's so great" "He's the greatest ever"

So yeah, color me as a non-fan of the guest, if you work for Buzzfeed you shouldn't have this air of being better than others, really

I didn't get any of the racist signals. Howard was on his game. Really liked the table-thumping bit. I'm not familiar with Louis (I'm an old guy), but he seemed like a good "yes and" kind of guest. This was a good ep, and I'm gonna take a couple clips out of it.

The rule is it's not racist if it's objectively hilarious. Which that was, oh my god.

If I had to police sketch someone and the only description was "Buzzfeed editor," I'm almost certain it would look just like this guy.

He'd come in at number 3 or 4 in the "10 most stereotypical buzzfeeders".

They read my Clickhole question! For the record, I wasn't trying to get a rise out of Louis. If The Onion deigned the company I work for culturally significant enough to parody, I would feel honored!

Come on, it's never a logical, round number like 10. It's always something more convenient for the writer.

I'm not a fan of Buzzfeed, but the only thing that genuinely annoyed me in this episode was Louis saying that they don't do round numbers because it annoys people. Cool goal, Buzzfeed.

Can't imagine that actually lights their fire enough to keep doing it. In reality, they just post as many instances of a topic they can copy/paste from Reddit. No point in tossing out a few to make it a round number, right?
