Episode 16 — The Smurfs

Recommended Posts

Hey, sorry I didn't stop by and say something nice about the last 15 episodes. Instead I waited and created this account to tell you how much this one sucked. Perhaps I judge so harshly because I've just listened to a marathon of the Earwolf Challenge and witnessed many contestants have their dreams of going from broke and obscure to broke and obscure in good company shattered for sounding half as shitty. Skype is not the answer for people who can't be in the studio. The answer is someone who CAN be in the studio (preferably at least one who knows the names of the actors in the movie enough to correct anyone who doesn't). I feel dirty for asking this but...How did THIS get made?

Just went back and listened to this show (I prefer to listen to the episodes after I've seen the actual movie, and now, sadly, I have seen The Smurfs).

Great episode!

At one point someone says they've shot themselves in the foot as far as the sequel goes as Gargamel is trapped in New York. I just wanted to share that the novelization sets up the sequel at the end - Papa Smurf is having one of his magic visions at the end of the movie and sees Gargamel atop the Eifle Tower replica in Las Vegas. So, if they follow the original plan of the script (novelizations are usually written from early drafts of scripts) it looks like the sequel will be Viva Smurf Vegas or somthing to that effect.

And, no, I didn't read the novelization, I know about it because of another podcast, (perhaps the unofficial sister-podcast of How DId This Get Made), The Book Was Better, in which the hosts read and discus novelizations of (usually) terrible movies, and The Smurfs was their most recent one.

Really funny show that I think fans of HDTGM will most likely enjoy!

Smurfette can actually do, if gave.

The scene where the Smurfs go to get the sonogram with her should feature a second musical number where they enter her uterus like a cave in an Indiana Jones movie (a literal torch would fit the movies tone!!). They proceed to dance with the fetus who is essentially a human at smurf scale.

In fact, the movie should have ended in this moment.

love,

What happened to the Smurfs episode? It doesn't seem to be up anymore.

Seriously, both it and its mini episode (16 and 16.5) are missing. Legal issues?

There was a very reasonable request that we no longer make those eps available and we've accommodated that request. Sorry.

Can I make another even more reasonable request that you put it back up since it's perhaps the best episode of the show?

Could you perhaps explain who and/or why someone requested no longer making those eps available to keep people from being upset about this. I think that people would be more willing to understand if it was explained.

Damn, that sucks. Thanks for the info though.

My best guess? It was the Smurf porn references.

I think a more likely reason is that one of the gang is in the upcoming sequel.

I don't think so. Jayma Mays is now on The League, and it probably wouldn't make for a very good work environment if word got back to her that two of her co-stars made fun of her movie, and her interview footage specifically.

Well, whatever the reason, lets hope the episode comes back some time after the new one does.

OMG YOU ARE THE GREATEST!

No seriously, I had deleted this episode before the brouhaha and was so sad I would never be able to listen to it again.

Not to mention they kept calling her "Jayma Mills".

After this happened with what most think was due to Jayma being on The League, there is no way now that they will ever do an Adam Sandler movie. This is more evident after the recent story of Rose McGowan saying her agent dropped her after she spoke out against him for the issues with casting calls in his movies.
