She hits like Jayma, and she runs like Mays.

Second Opinions was fantastic.

Way to get an Aunt Jemima reference into casual conversation. Not easy.

I have a minor complaint about the out-of-studio episodes— and it is minor, as the content of this show is so good that every time an episode posts with someone talking over Skype I initially cringe at the sound quality and the stilted chemistry that happens when someone's not in the room, but quickly get used to it and ultimately enjoy each and every episode, every time.

I've been keeping up with the Earwolf Challenge podcast quite a bit and one thing that has come up time and time again in the judging is the sound quality issues of the podcast contestants. I know that ideally HDTGM will always have everyone in studio, but seeing as it has now happened a few times where one, and in this episode, two people are out of studio on Skype or what have you, I would like to suggest that it may not be a bad idea to start heeding some of that advice to generally raise the level of quality n those episodes.

This episode was AMAZING. I was beside myself laughing the whole time. But occasionally when June would static out for an instant, or Jason's voice would dip and distort for a beat, or either of them would have to speak up and repeat themselves to make a point while not necessarily hearing what Paul and Paul were up to, I would wonder how the episode would have gone with everyone in the same room. I probably would have crashed my car from gut-laughing.

I love this show, and I critique only because I'm a huge fan. I would listen to this show if everyone was on Skype, or talking through tin cans attached with string, recorded on a wax cylinder. Paul, June, Jason and their guests are all ridiculously talented, smart, funny people, and they make bad movies a delight to hear about.

Some of the most memorable, out-of-breath-laughing times I've had in my life have been from standing outside a theater with my friends after seeing a ridiculously shitty movie, and making fun of it and riffing off one another. This podcast recreates that feeling but with actual professional comedians in place of humorous friends. You're providing great service.

Keep up the great work, guys!

I would just like to say it has been a day since that giant wall of text was posted by me. Even though I wanted only to offer up a slight constructive critique about 'away game' recording equipment, express how grateful I am for the much-more-often-than-not SUPER-high quality of production, and then thoroughly drive home that I love and appreciate the show, I found myself today worrying that I had offended.
To be crystal clear, I just wanted to also stress that I understand how ridiculously busy you guys all are, and sometimes you just gotta get everyone together the best you can and get it done, and that is totally a-ok with me. I am no stranger to deadlines, self-imposed and otherwise.
*Whew*

Paul F. Tompkins was completely in his element in this episode. I know the dude's in high demand in Podcast Land, but I would love for him to come back every couple-a months and weigh in. He and Scheer each have a way of getting so excited over what they're talking about that is a form of entertainment unto itsself.
The End.

Hey, sorry I didn't stop by and say something nice about the last 15 episodes. Instead I waited and created this account to tell you how much this one sucked. Perhaps I judge so harshly because I've just listened to a marathon of the Earwolf Challenge and witnessed many contestants have their dreams of going from broke and obscure to broke and obscure in good company shattered for sounding half as shitty. Skype is not the answer for people who can't be in the studio. The answer is someone who CAN be in the studio (preferably at least one who knows the names of the actors in the movie enough to correct anyone who doesn't). I feel dirty for asking this but...How did THIS get made?

Just went back and listened to this show (I prefer to listen to the episodes after I've seen the actual movie, and now, sadly, I have seen The Smurfs).

Great episode!

At one point someone says they've shot themselves in the foot as far as the sequel goes as Gargamel is trapped in New York. I just wanted to share that the novelization sets up the sequel at the end - Papa Smurf is having one of his magic visions at the end of the movie and sees Gargamel atop the Eifle Tower replica in Las Vegas. So, if they follow the original plan of the script (novelizations are usually written from early drafts of scripts) it looks like the sequel will be Viva Smurf Vegas or somthing to that effect.

And, no, I didn't read the novelization, I know about it because of another podcast, (perhaps the unofficial sister-podcast of How DId This Get Made), The Book Was Better, in which the hosts read and discus novelizations of (usually) terrible movies, and The Smurfs was their most recent one.

Really funny show that I think fans of HDTGM will most likely enjoy!

The scene where the Smurfs go to get the sonogram with her should feature a second musical number where they enter her uterus like a cave in an Indiana Jones movie (a literal torch would fit the movies tone!!). They proceed to dance with the fetus who is essentially a human at smurf scale.

In fact, the movie should have ended in this moment.

love,

ryan

Seriously, both it and its mini episode (16 and 16.5) are missing. Legal issues?

There was a very reasonable request that we no longer make those eps available and we've accommodated that request. Sorry.

Can I make another even more reasonable request that you put it back up since it's perhaps the best episode of the show?

Could you perhaps explain who and/or why someone requested no longer making those eps available to keep people from being upset about this. I think that people would be more willing to understand if it was explained.

Damn, that sucks. Thanks for the info though.

My best guess? It was the Smurf porn references.

I think a more likely reason is that one of the gang is in the upcoming sequel.

Now just because I criticized the episode doesn't mean you needed to take it down. What's up with that?
