Musical Mondays-Week 7-Cabaret!

Recommended Posts

We're just dicking around waiting for the week to be up so we can talk about the movie, so I feel okay posting this here (since someone didn't write a review so I could start shit on Letterboxd).

I actually haven't seen that movie but I've never seen it scored so low. Give us your full, scathing review, kate!

LOL, damn...putting me on blast.

& sorry I didn't see/respond to earlier. Work has been brutal this week :(

I have issues sleeping lately, so when I woke up in the middle of the night last night I watched it since it's on cinemax app or Starz..one of those? Figured I could put on to pass the time until I was tired again.

I don't really know how to defend myself- I'm not a huge fan of FF movies.

I haven't watched all of FF movies, I think the original, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Tokyo Drift & this one. I watched the first one again not too long ago, but the others it's been awhile.

But I think out of ones I've seen I liked the original the most, then maybe Tokyo Drift.

I don't really know what to say besides I'm not super into action/car/extreme sports movies... (don't call me out for my low rating of xXx too... :P )

*gasp* Tokyo Drift is the wooooooooooorst. I can't stand that main kid in it. But at least it gave us Han.

5, 6, and 7 are the best, but that's because I care less about them racing and more about them doing completely ridiculous shit.

But I also have to admit that half the reason I love the movies is because I love hearing Adam Scott and the gang talk about them.

Edit: forgot to add a gif

Yaaaaah Kate!

(I had a very aggressive gif in there which I've reconsidered. But the message was - own your opinion! One star what you want to one star! Hell, there were even people on this board who didn't love Across the Universe, like wtf)

It's been awhile since Ive seen Tokyo and 2 Fast... So I may be wrong. I just thought I may have liked more than 2 Fast.

Most of the time (not always) when there's long car chases or super long action or fight sequences I kind of zone out. Again, not always the case but its not usually something I get psyched about. But I'm sure I wasnt the target audience for the FF movies.

But I agree with you about Adam Scott. I love Adam and those eps are some of my fav HDTGM eps ..and main reason

why I went ahead and watched in first place.

As someone who likes Blade Runner, I'll say that the worst thing about the movie is its fans because if you don't like it, it's because you haven't seen this one version of it (there are, like, seven different cuts of the movie), which will just make you fall in love with it. (I realized after I wrote it that that sounds like I'm talking shit about your boyfriend - a person whom I have obviously never met and have no reason to judge. I assure you that wasn't meant to be that pointed)

It's kind of like not liking the Beatles and being told it's because you just haven't heard X album yet

But I will say that not liking F&F is crazy talk. Isn't that right, Dom?

I think the cut that's showing is my bf's fav at least..from what he said. I have no clue which it is.

Related story : my boyfriend actually got to meet Harrieon Ford couple nights ago (I think Sat night), he was here in Phoenix for Celebrity fight night and stayed in the hotel my bf works at. Ford called the front desk for some aspirin and he got to run it up to him.. Lol. So yea he was excited he got to meet him because he loves BR

And I stand by my 1 star rating, sorry Dom

Kateacola, I've only ever seen 6 and half an hour of 5 (before I literally got up, said "I can't handle this," and left my friend's house).

Why were you watching them in reverse order?

I wasn't. I just wanted to end the post on that story lol.

But now I guess I will be since I still proceeded to watch all of 6 an another occasion and I still haven't seen more than half an hour of 5 lol.

I know some people don't like when they do movies that are still in the theater, but I really hope we don't have to wait until September for the Fate of the Furious ep. I need it noooowww!

I'm right there with you Kate - I've seen the first three and tapped out because I found the characters irritating and I'm not into car porn. I thought they were fine, and I'm aware that the later ones are the best ones, but I just can't be bothered to catch up on the character arcs, so I just let the series go on without me. Fister, sorry if this means I'm as dead to you as I am to Taylor Anne now.

I haven't seen them all either - 1, 2, 4, and 7. You don't need to be up on the "lore" or care about cars, Seven is just a great movie.

That being said, I could give two shits about 8.

You guys are all philistines. I'd rather watch 43 more F&F movies than one more uninspired Marvel movie or Netflix series.

It's not that they are better. It's that they are completely different movies. They've gotten away from the car porn and street racing, and now they're just straight over-the-top ridiculous action movies.

Also, "character arcs."

Like, I get that you like them more, and that's totally fine, but let's not kid ourselves, even in comparison, that the F&F movies, with their meathead philosophy and glory shots of women's asses, are anything close to High Art. They're both bankrupt creatively. We just enjoy different types of trash.
