  1. One of my favorite things about the rooftop set is the fact the door is on the same plane as the wall. So, the stairwell down into the apartment building would be extending off the side of the building. Instead, it just looks like a little shed with no stairs in it. You can see it here (aslo, a great excuse to post this video): http://youtu.be/mQ4KzClb1C4

Episode 88 — Vanity Plates! Incest!

Great Earwolf debut, Elizabeth and Andy! I actually am from a few hours outside St. Louis, which means my biggest connection to the city is having to fly to Lambert International twice a year and wait out all the holiday-related delays. Also, very excited about the new Besser improv show! I enjoyed the episode of Sound of Young America where Jesse had a few UCB people try long-form on the radio, so it definitely works!
  3. My suggestion for Season 2 of the Earwolf Challenge would be to shift the focus away from talking about how bad our bad sketch was. Not that we can't keep having the discussion, but just that it pains me that we went out on a submission that died so horribly in the room that it echoes across time. Talk about it all you want, but know that it's gutting to keep hearing about how bad it was. Please know, Earwolfists, that our regular show is funny.
  4. @Mark - They didn't tell us specifically we couldn't use an old script. They just told us to make something original in 30 minutes. We don't feel fucked over except by our own submission. Sketch is a hit-or-miss game, and we just missed with the judges this time. We could have done so many different things, but we were in full-on panic mode. If Scott and Jeff and the Earwolf crew wanted to keep us from winning, they never would have invited us in the first place. Although I will say that we are all decent, if not great, improvisers on LHR. We perform much better when the suggestion isn't "Zach Galifianakis cancelled."

  6. Hey guys, Adam from LHR here. We are very flattered by the love you guys have shown us here on the forum. Like Caroline said earlier, if you are disappointed we got the boot this week, then subscribe to us on iTunes and leave us a nice review. We're still going to have a show for you guys to enjoy, it just won't be here on Earwolf. There's no need to go after the judges, the host, or even the other contestants because they are all very nice human beings who only want to entertain you. We'll have more thoughts for you in our farewell blog post, but for now I want to say thanks for all of this big support the last few weeks. Also, just a side-note, I'm the only Cuddlah in the bunch at LHR. I am pretty sure the other 4 only listen to math podcasts.

  8. Believe me, JW, you're not the only one who made some noise about the SuperEgo comment. However, we are thrilled with all the great feedback from the Earwolf community. I just want to make sure I'm adding to that fun of discussing the show.
  9. @JW I hope you don't feel as though I was going after you in the discussion about sound effects in another thread. My intent was to defend the decision we made on our show. Also, I wanted to encourage people to look beyond what they might perceive as a "hack" use of sound effects and enjoy all of the contestants' shows. But if you hate it, you hate it and that's fine.

    "Boing" - Lame or Laime

@JW Adam from LHR here. The boing and the sad trombone don't really bother me, for what it's worth. Brett used the trombone in a game show sketch, which seems like a proper context to me. Elizabeth obviously has a running gag with the boing that isn't a punchline to a boner joke. To me, they make sense. Sure, the radio dial effect is by no means cutting-edge (as a transition device or as a reflection of the technology), but we use it for a specific purpose. Without live applause to go out on, or songs to cut to, the easiest way for us to delineate between the start and end of a sketch is a sound cue. Radio static just seems to fit well. We also like to throw in some vox pops, like on Python or A Bit of Fry and Laurie, disguised in the radio static to try and have fun with the static rather than just use it. Just because something has been done before or used before doesn't make it a complete no-no to use or play with in my opinion. Mr. Show linked together sketches like Python did, but they made it work just as well for them. Sure, we don't use the conceit that everything on the show is being broadcast over the radio to justify the static, but how boring would an all-radio-parody show be? There are only so many morning zoo jokes you can do, especially in an era where the morning zoo is being replaced with fine programming from the Earwolf Network! (Ad). It's not a perfect transition, nor is it edgy and mind-blowing, but it works for what we need it to do. If we can think of other ideas, we'll certainly try them. Except for fake crowd noise. We threw that sound effects machine away. In the end, we are all trying to be as entertaining as possible. I would hate to think that the only thing keeping everyone from enjoying all the Earwolf Challenge shows are sound effects you may have heard elsewhere.
  11. @Niall If you're clown from the neck down, you know Cuddlahz don't attack as a pack.
  12. @TeamSpaceBug Thanks so much! We'd love to have any characters on our show answer questions, we went with Herb since he's been on the show before and gives tips about how to do stuff on the cheap. It's the first time we had tried writing new material to a listener-suggested topic, and it was a lot of fun! We'd love to do it more and get better at it.
