Prince would be so excellent. Such a long career with such a deep catalog. 1st LP "For You" sounds inexplicably like Yellow Magic Orchestra. 3 years later he puts out "Dirty Mind" featuring a 1.5 min punky new wave song portraying incest as "hot." HAVE NOT EVEN GOTTEN TO PURPLE RAIN. Also more humor than you'd expect given his image. "I'm the Bone Ranger?" That's funny!

    This forum dead or what?

I wish more people posted here! I think there is more going on on Reddit, which I think I've aged out of learning how to use.

    Mantzoukas remix ep 639

What a pleasant surprise. Didn't have a lot of faith in this year's open/close the bag theme but that really made it excellent. Also does no one use these forums and I have to like learn how to use reddit to talk about this show?

It’s very hard for me to separate out what I find interesting and like musically vs what I think would make a good Scott and Scott podcast. I do not have the objective ability to focus strictly on the latter. (I would like Scott and Scott to make a podcast about all of my favorite songs from all of my favorite bands.) That said they manage to pick these mega-popular relatable bands and focus on their personal connections that sometimes brings obscure fandom into the mix. This is what I like the most given that I still don’t like either of these bands. (The podcast taught me that the very earliest REM material overlaps with what I like musically.) Michael Bradley (the Undertones)’s book doesn’t have an index so I can’t look this up exactly but they are a KILLER Irish punk band (1 LP blows the U2 catalog away) and at one point very early on he meets Bono and they have a brief conversation about fame in which the author basically says “What? Don’t care” and Bono says “I want it more than anything in the world.” As much as I love the underdog it made me think there is something to be said for putting it out there and aiming for success. Real talk. Protex are at least as amazing, I didn’t hear them until around a decade ago when Sing Sing Records released an LP they recorded in the late 70s. They still tour and often hit the States and KILL IT every time. So I like the obscurities, especially the ones that are as good or better than the famous stuff. I just want more personal stories. Scott (co-host) putting headphones on people is an absolute highlight. I strongly believe Scott (co-host) has some deep ska roots in the late 80s, early 90s. When Nick Welsh went over with Buster Bloodvessel to have Donkey Show be part of the backing band for Busters All Stars - I want every detail that can be recalled about this event - in a podcast made exclusively for me. In a potentially less alienating sense I’d like a slight swing towards the more personal and obscure. Experiences at early shows, any local bands - audiences may not know the exact references but it can still be relatable.

Episode 598 - Secret Shopping with Motley Crue

agreed. I Think You Should Leave is top notch funny. Most and most quickly I’ve laughed that hard in a long time. Some of the timing reminded me a bit of Mr Show which is not bad at all. Only watched a couple episodes so far, happy to have more left.

    Flula & Boom Time (591)

After the previous appearance I thought this was a character and a straight up "does not actually exist" podcast. Turns out it does! Which is amazing. Plus now I get years to go back and listen to years of the show!

Great ep. Wiger's appearance in particular made my year feel complete.

    25 - Chronic Town

This is beyond excellent. It has been a shit ass week and seeing this start to download was a very pleasant surprise. I really enjoyed the stories of growing up and how you heard things at the time - 10 in 1980 and getting FM, amazing. I was 4 in 1979 and can remember "My Sharona" on AM radio -- mom leaving the blue 76 station wagon in the driveway the extra minutes to hear the whole song. Adam pronouncing "Pass the Dutchie" as "doochie" was also amazing.
  9. Hard schooled on 90 Day Fiance. Great show(s)!

    Best of 2017 Pt. 4

Love the show. Nearing #1 and still an hour left? “Yes!” Possible changes?! Inappropriate amount of fear in my heart. My sincerest thanks for all the hard work that goes into this podcast that brings me very sincere joy on a consistent basis.

Just started and gotta say making fun of other smart quasi-educational podcasts was already top notch. Especially going back to ask more questions.

    24 - Songs of Experience

I'd listen to an REM podcast but I'd listen to pretty much any Scott and Scott podcast. I feel like the question was "REM: yes or no" and not a call for brainstorming but as someone who doesn't care about REM something a little wider like early shows / concerts you went to, how you got into certain bands, stuff you liked a long time ago and whether or not it holds up now, or just a general music podcast that offers an opportunity to occasionally talk about weirder or more obscure stuff would be sweet for me personally, which is the podcast I would like hear - one that is made for me personally. Thank you!

Episode 515 - Return to Suicide House Part 666

I was delighted by this and was very glad Leo Carpazzi wrote an entirely NEW song for this year. Also super funny how Mr. Auckerman is up for as many plays of "Hollywood Facts" as possible, but "Monster Fuck" once a year is entirely too much.

Episode 501 - Manchester Orchestra's Kith and Kin

I'm concerned Scott doesn't know what "ska" is. I watched four (4) Naked Postmen clips on youtube and there was 0% ska. No horns, nothing was being picked up, not an offbeat in sight. Let's circle back, study up on The Braces, Maroon Town, and the Busters. Thanks!

    Episode 497 - Wait Awhile

Good Lord, "Chick Peas" to the tune of "check please" as a means of ordering chana masala.... is impeccable.
