This is quite the build-up! As long as it’s not another crappy cartoon!

I'm starting to question why you know so many of these songs. I don't mind because I love a pin but I'm starting to question how big Creed fan you are

hey I noticed that the Unspooled FB group was using Kast to have a watch party for this week's movie. I know you guys looked into it a few months back, but has anyone tried it recently? is it better? if we're self isolating, it'd be fun to watch some stuff with you all

Also justwatch.com and actually Letterboxd has a feature I just noticed last week that you can tailor to which apps you have. But yea I've got quite a few streaming apps at this point that have movies on them, so unless we set up an order, I'll just do what I can find. As we do, I say post your thoughts about them here. I have been also turning to TV lately with my extra watching time, but I still have plenty of time for movies haha. Just started Westworld and Umbrella Academy.

When this movie was announced as one of the tour films HDTGM would be discussing, I thought it was a strange choice. It’s not the most over-the-top film in the Underworld series, but maybe they had their reasons or special insights into this installment of the franchise in particular. Listening to this episode, however, it seemed like Paul, June and Jason were trying to backwards engineer many of the plot points they found confusing and convoluted (check and double check) established in the earlier films. it’s still a very hilarious HDTGM episode, please don’t get me wrong. But I still wish they would have reviewed the first film instead.

I’m trying to gather suggestions into more straightforward groups/lists with less blathering on (on my part). Electra Boogaloo requested a Nic Cage list, so here is the streamlined edition. I’d be happy to watch any of these movies anytime. I will be coming up with more lists and am happy for any/all suggestions. Just trying to get the ball rolling. Nic Cage list in no apparent order Raising Arizona Valley Girl Birdy Moonstruck Wild at Heart Red Rock West Face/Off (HDTGM episode) The Rock Adaptation Vampire’s Kiss (HDTGM episode) Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans Lord of War The Wicker Man (HDTGM episode) Mandy Mom and Dad The Color Out of Space if you haven’t heard of The ColorOut of Space, I saw it in the theater and it was a blast. It was directed by Richard Stanley, who was the ORIGINAL director of the Marlon Brando version of The Island of Dr. Moreau and is in the excellent documentary Lost Soul, about the turbulent production of THAT film. Here’s the preview for The Color Out of Space. It makes for a good double feature with Mom and Dad.

Haha I just saw this because I skimmed the thread earlier but I was so close to suggesting Rock & Rule.

I just looked at it the other day, but I didn’t do anything with it. I’ve been meaning to though, I swear.

I kind of enjoyed how ridiculous this movie was, but as a regular blood donor, I had some major beef with the blood draw scene. Judging by the giant goblet they wind up with, they got something like a pint of blood from Selene. That would take between five to ten minutes with one needle the size of a ballpoint pen tip! You don't need a machine for that, and a larger needle would be less efficient, since it would likely tear the sides of the blood vessels open, causing the blood to seep into the surrounding tissue and be lost. Also, blood is generally purified by the liver and kidneys. How the hell are they expecting the toxin to be removed from her blood it once it's out of her body? They're not running it through filters or anything; they just seem to be waiting it out!

Hell yes Graham I had no idea how to feel after this one! I would love to hear the HDTGM take on this one. It's. Mental.

There’s actually a very handy app called Reelgood that lets you know if the film you want is streaming anywhere.

Here’s the Nic Cage List with streaming services added. A LOT aren’t streaming for free/with subscription at all, but I’ve marked which ones are. Nic Cage list in no apparent order Raising Arizona—HBO (I would also rent this one) Valley Girl Birdy Moonstruck—Prime Video and Epix Wild at Heart Red Rock West Face/Off (HDTGM episode) The Rock Adaptation—free on Sony Crackle Vampire’s Kiss (HDTGM episode) Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans (Kanopy, Sony Crackle, Tubi, VUDU, IMDB TV) Lord of War— Hulu and Amazon Prime The Wicker Man (HDTGM episode) Mandy—Shudder and Hoopla (library streaming service) Mom and Dad—Hulu The Color Out of Space Bringing out the Dead—Kanopy (library service)

1000%. I really don’t understand picking the fifth movie of a series and then saying, “I don’t get it.” It’s like reading the last chapter of a novel and then complaining that it “doesn’t make sense.” Like you were saying, I, Frankenstein, or the even the first Underworld, would have probably been better picks. They have a lot of the same issues they had with this movie, but at least they wouldn’t be wondering who prominent characters are from the series. I really don’t think the fifth movie in a series should have the onus of explaining *everything* that’s ever happened to these characters. I mean, they seemed to have a problem with the initial expo dump and then they complained that they didn’t have enough information to understand what was going on. That first flashback is just the “Previously in...” page of a comic book. It’s catching you up to speed on relevant plot points, but it’s not supposed to be a substitute for having watched the previous films. It’s supposed to be a refresher, not a detailed synopsis.

If these walls could talk, am I right? Unfortunately they can only eat, breath, and take shits, so I’m cancelling the grant money.

I just saw this. Holy fucking shit, THIS IS THE MOST INSANE NIC CAGE MOVIE OF ALL TIME!!!! In a good way. It’s the definition of “bonkers.” Surefire HDTGM material. My Amazon review is 5 stars. I love this film!!!!!
