1. - The title card at the beginning of the movie says, "Opium Fields, Tibet." 1. It's not opium fields, it's poppy fields. 2. Tibet was never involved in the opium trade. For god's sake, the leader of the country was a monk. It'd be like people having turf wars over marijuana farms in Vatican City. - Poor John Lone, being in this dreck. John Lone starred in BERNARDO BERTOLUCCI's The Last Emperor, which won ALL 9 of the Academy Awards for which it was nominated, including Best Picture and Best Director. Its soundtrack, which was written by Ryuichi Sakamoto and David Byrne, remains one of my favorite soundtracks (it's on Spotify!). - The movie conflates the Mongols, the Manchus, and Han Chinese. - It's interesting that Shiwan Khan described U.S.A. as decadent when the country was going through the Great Depression, and also when 1930s Shanghai was one of the most decadent places in the world. - Could't make out the hilarity Ying Ko said after the murder of 2 people. But in the Chinese restaurant Lamont Cranston ordered, "Stir-fried shrimp, stir-fried bamboo shoots and mushrooms, and seafood soup." Maybe they realized that Peking duck is way too heavy for an après-nightclub meal.
2. “The best laid plans of mice and men." - Marie Kondo I don't think there are many people like Matt Gourley who can create a kidnapper who's not creepy and is kind of sweet.

Thanks Taylor Anne! High praise! Yay! I'm glad I'm not that only one who got verklempt at that scene. But anytime you start a topic people will join in. Anywhere Cam goes, people follow. Forgive me if this question is too personal, but how come you don't watch movies during their first run? Oh yeah, there's a post-credits scene that hints at what the sequel might be about, and it is EXCITING.

Episode 140.5 - Minisode 140.5

So I saw Ghosbusters and I absolutely love it. Before I go into my mini-review I want to point out that in addition to letting women over the age of 30 headline a big-budget summer studio movie, the movie also cast off-the-radar comedic actors who aren't usually cast in mainstream movies. In other words, friends of Earwolf. Zach Woods, Karan Soni, Neil Casey, Toby Huss, Eugene Cordero, Milana Vayntrub and Matt Walsh have all been guests on Earwolf shows. Nate Coddry, Jamie Denbo and Jessica Chafin all have shows on Earwolf. Paul Feig (director) and Kate Dippold (screenwriter) have also appeared as guests on Earwolf podcasts. Dippold in fact was the guest on the Staying Alive episode of HDTGM, which I consider as one of the top HDTGM episodes. I don't usually expressed a lot of emotions while watching movies but I laughed out loud frequently during Ghostbusters and I even cried a little. My eyes started to get wet during an action sequence where Kate McKinnon's character, backed by the familiar Ghostbusters theme, battled ghosts in slo-mo. Here is a female character over the age of 30, who does not have cover girl looks, who has a Ph.D in the male-dominated field of nuclear engineering, who's wearing loose-fitting clothes, and she's fighting and looking BADASS. I'm so happy that young girls and young women have that. Many actors from the 1984 Ghostbusters showed up in cameos. And when a certain actor showed up I started to cry. It's like, old friends! All my old friends are here! It's as if they are saying, it's cool you're making new friends, we like them too. We know you love us still and will never forget us. And then, and then at the end of the credits, the screen says "For Harold Ramis." Tears, tears. And for a final bit of ghostbusters awesomeness. They busted a troll.

On the 5th episode of Bitch Sesh, we do hear June's opinion that long hair does look good on certain older women.

A ghostbuster suit is a piece of protective clothing. Protective clothing like hazmat suits, flight suits, space suits, firefighter suits etc. are usually one piece with minimum openings to better protect the wearer. Women have dealt with petticoats, corsets and crinolines. A jumpsuit is easy peasy. I want to remind everyone that in debates of women doing traditionally male jobs, our bodies are always ridiculed, and women are turned into weak, hormonal and barely continent wrecks who should be kept from the jobs we want and are qualified to do.

"Silent Hills" fans, "Stranger Things" also referenced that game. Also, everyone saw this Silent Hills P.T. In real life vid right? It captured the SH vibe very nicely. Haha, I wish! That would've been hilarious. No, the actor said insist.

Don't know. Chastain was awesome in that movie. Crimson Peak had 2 things going for me, Jessica Chastain and the art design. The movie looks gorgeous. The dialogue is not great, and Mia Wasikowska's faux-Austen dialogue made me angry. I don't know whether someone really misheard the following or that person was pranking imdb. I actually double-checked the movie to make sure that Dr. McMichael said insist and not incest.

I checked imdb, he's not, sadly. I should also note that the other Chinese actor in Rogue One is Jiang Wen. He's a Big Deal actor in China. No doubt the casting of a Chinese actor and a Hong Kong actor is to broaden the movie's appeal in Chinese-speaking markets (Shanghai Disney Resort had recently opened and there's a Disneyland in Hong Kong), but it's still a score for diversity that Chinese actors are appearing for the first time in a Star Wars movie.

I nearly let out a teenybopper scream when Winona first appeared onscreen. I just finished Stranger Things, it's a lot of fun. I'm gonna watch it tomorrow in IMAX 3D! Harold Ramis' daughter Violet Ramis Stiel has written a lovely and moving article in support of the reboot. I just found out that one of my favorite martial arts actor, Donnie Yen, is in Rogue One. The movie looks great. It doesn't have the cartoon-y look of 90% of sci-fi and superhero movies. I might actually find the movie's life-and-death stakes convincing.
12. Thanks to skizelo's question for episode 5's popcorn gallery, we get to know this tragic part of PFT's family history. His grandfather was a fuck machinist who died of fuck lung when a Pinkerton detective clubbed him to death.

I don't think I'd be able to speak if I ever met Winona Ryder. They shot a scene of "My All-American" in front of the UT tower. When I came out of class one day, there were shiny 50's cars lining the road in front of the tower. It was like stepping into another era. So surreal. Argh, I should've taken pics.

17. Here's what I would like when I'm trying to have fun on a pop culture forum: 1. Not to see Maxim-esque pictures of women, especially very young women. 2. Not to see successful TV presenter/Oxford grad, or any woman really, being called a "sexy bitch". 3. For more men to call out sexism. It's tiring to fight sexism alone. And ineffective. Some men would only listen to other men.
18. Pete: Break eye contact with me. Mike: It's okay, we're brothers.
19. Bravo Taylor Anne. I also suspect the anger towards the remake would be smaller if people like Kate Upton have been cast. I saw "Jungle Book" about a month ago. Sitting behind me were a group of tween boys. They laughed hard during the trailer for the remake.
20. This episode has PFT, sharks, and Jurassic Park. It is heavenly. - I've always wondered why not many people find sharks cute even though they often look like they are smiling. PFT had the answer. The sharks aren't "smizing". I guess it's hard to anthropomorphize sharks since their eyes are all black? I think the eyes are cute though, like a cartoon. Incidentally, PFT was the guest on the Deep Blue Sea episode of HDTGM. The other movie mentioned in the Harry's ad-read was Devil's Advocate. HDTGM also did that movie, with HH's close friend Julie Klausner as guest. Both episodes are hilarious. - "We got robots with bombs out there now." "Bomb bots." - The boys and The Great Debates were talking about how Jake Johnson and Sean are similar in age but Johnson is much more successful than Sean. Then Sean said in a small quavering voice, "I just need a little time." That was like an arrow through my heart. Yes Sean. Some of us just need a little time. One day you will go from making $30000 a year to owning a BMW, a Porsche, a monster truck, a house, and 30 companies.
21. HER NAME IS PUSHEEN I had to double-check the meaning of zeitgeist. I don't think I've ever used the word, not even in school essays. And I've only came across zeitgeist in academic and journalistic works. Ok, so now I've used that word at least twice.
22. HEY BAE HOLLYWOODHEADS! I know some of you cool beans are on Chapsnat and Tweetbird and Instantgem and not on Facebook and so didn't see that the penultimate episode of The Reality Show Show was selected for Splitsider's Pod-Canon. Pod-Canon is even more special than Podmass. Podmass appears almost everyweek, while Pod-Canon appears rarely. The episode in question will have to go through the Congregation for the Causes of Awesome Podcast Episodes, AKA Nathan Rubin, before it can be canonized. Also, Hollywood Handbook is the Pick of the Week in the latest How Did This Get Made minisode (at the 46:20 mark). And Paul Scheer said some very nice things about HH.
23. The names Jessie and Jason are too similar. They're like names you give to siblings. June said a very June thing, "This is not about a mannequin doing what a mannequin should be doing." June thought that the movie will end in a joint suicide. That's hilariously dark. Yeah! Go Taylor Anne! It doesn't even sound like office guy is using the word correctly.
24. Aww! There there. I'm sure a duskull won't be on. It'd be too scary for Sean. (I think duskulls are cute though.) You mean like a Welcome to Night Vale kinda thing? That would be fun.
25. Not if they are the creepy ass Rattata and Magikarp (it looks dead!) tho. Hopefully the boys have been at their very best at catching pokemon. It's good that Sean's views on religion has mellowed, since apparently many pokemon are at churches.
