Have you seen the clip of Jane Krakowski (from the West End production with Ewan McGregor too omg)? I think it's a lot better. -
I don't understand why we have different podcast app functionalities. Ugh, Apple!

Weird! iOS 11?

It works fine for me, from the "unplayed" section of the podcast app.

Wondering if anyone caught this. Nathan promises Adelaide that she'll get her house and picket fences in white and green, the Whitney colors. What are Whitney colors? Is he referring to the museum? -

Oh, those were definitely coconuts. Apparently that's how they used to spell it, although by the 1950s, usage was on the decline. -

Can we talk about that rushed ending in Guys and Dolls? Sarah quietly leaves the meeting and then next thing we see is the double wedding in Times Square. Huh? I found this so jarring. I don't understand how Sarah and Sky were able to reconcile. Is it because Sarah found out that Sky told Nathan that Sarah never went to Havana? And Nathan finally agreed (sigh) to marry Adelaide, but why? The last scene they had together before the wedding was when he walks out on her at the restaurant. She sneezes, and he doesn't even turn around to say gesundheit like he usually does. It seemed like the final nail on the coffin of their dead relationship. Him sneezing at the altar did not bode well for their future either. However, I loved Adelaide's pale lavender wedding dress. It seemed very fashion forward to me - although I admit I'm not familiar with the history of wearing a white dress on your wedding day in America. -

My favorite part is the music (although boo for cutting out I've Never Been in Love Before). Any time you bring an English horn into the mix, I'm gonna give you brownie points. -

I've still got about 50 minutes left to watch (my god was it always this long?), but wanted to say I tried to play "spot the PoC" in this movie and came up with 3 total. I thought it was 4, but it was just a poorly lit scene. -

Re: casting, I thought this bit from Wikipedia was interesting. For the movie, Gene Kelly at first seemed a serious candidate for the part but it went to Marlon Brando as a matter of course, partly because MGM would not loan Kelly for the production but mainly because Goldwyn wanted to cast Brando, the world's biggest box office draw by a wide margin at that time. The film ended up being distributed by MGM, Kelly's home studio. Frank Sinatra had coveted the role of Sky Masterson, and relations between him and Brando were strained. Hollywood critic James Bacon quotes Sinatra telling director Joe Mankiewicz, "When Mumbles is through rehearsing, I'll come out". Sinatra had also been considered for the part of Terry Malloy in On the Waterfront; both roles went to Brando. Gene Kelly was 3 years older than Sinatra and 12 years older than Brando. -
Fister and Cam Bert, you're going to watch this, right? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dt__kig8PVU

Episode 171 - Miami Connection: LIVE!
tomspanks replied to JulyDiaz's topic in How Did This Get Made?
Update: I picked up the Miami Connection disc today. I was reading through the accompanying booklet and got to the last page... This must be the picture of them filming the final fight scene with "Yashito", aka Jeff. LOOK AT HIM. All the hair on his head is indeed condensed into a beard like the gang said on the episode. -

From the imdb trivia page again: The man who plays Jane's professor was a real computer science professor at the University of Central Florida. A scene was filmed showing the men in their class but it was deleted. I want to see that scene! -

Gentlemen Prefer Blondes was the movie before Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. The discussion thread is here. I don't think anyone would mind if you continued the discussion.
