I honestly started watching it, but just wasn't in the mood so I stopped after 10 minutes. Then I never went back to it. Not real sure if it was the movie, or me.

I don’t think it was just you. It took me a few sessions over several days to finish it.

So Mary Lou has many interesting powers. Paul and the gang talked about how weird it was she was able to kill not-Real Genius via electricity via the computer. However this glosses over the even more incredible power she has in that scene. Half a school away not-Real Genius is changing the results on the computer and she can sense it! She literally feels it the moment it is changed and then proceeds to grab an outlet to electrocute him. Does being a evil spirit also give you a Spider Sense that is tuned into prom king and queen status? In addition even though he types it into the computer she somehow uses her powers to change it back to herself anyway. If Mary Lou could change the results at any time why would she even need to try to get not-Real Genius to pick her anyway?

Because this way she gets to murder!

  3. I also think Wicker Man is a horror film.  Granted there’s no blood/gore or supernatural forces, some of the scenes were genuinely unsettling and creepy af.

Since we’re on this topic, Thunderball is my least favorite Bond movie.  I’ve watched it the least because it’s so boring. Even thinking about it now is boring the shit out of me.

  4. Glad I finally watched this and I can check it off my pop culture to-do list.

At first, I wished they had played up the mystery/detective angle a bit better, but I guess it's befitting his his "fool" image?

Also, I was hoping the special fruit trees that were developed for the island was something cooler than apples 😅

And...I just have to say I kept being distracted by Howie's ear hair.

To add to this - aside from the Google search heard 'round the world, I don't recall them doing anything to try to figure out how to get the daughter back. I  may have blocked it out, but the characters feel completely resigned to a "well, this will all sort itself out somehow!" mentality, and then poof! the daughter's back (or IS she?). It just feels so passive and unresolved. You can tell it's a remake of an adaptation of a remake of an adaptation. It's not so clear anymore. If it ever was.

I haven't finished the movie yet, but yeah, so far they were just like "ugh we have to wait 7 years."  I really think they believe the condition will resolve on its own in 7 years and that's why the wife is concerned with getting good grades and applying to college.

  6. The guys touched on this a little bit, but I think it deserves more attention. In the beginning of the movie, the daughter goes to a sleepover and the parents have a date night in the house and reminisce about their past. Duchovny tells a story about how on the second night of their honeymoon in Provence, he had to find her a roast beef sandwich or else they weren’t gonna bone for the rest of the trip? First, they’re only on the second night in Provence, so it feels too early to start craving food from home, unless they started their honeymoon earlier at a different location. But secondly, why would anyone crave a roast beef sandwich? It’s not some exotic food that’s hard to obtain and I feel like Provençal beef stew would be an acceptable alternative to satisfy the craving. So I think the natural conclusion is that the roast beef sandwich is some sort of a kink and she needed it or else there wasn’t gonna be any sex for the rest of the honeymoon.

Here’s something I simply could not fathom. Hannah keeps insisting that Sam is going to come back so they both decide that the best course of action, to ensure and protect their daughter’s future academic success, is to just keep on keeping on. And, okay, sure, I can kind of get that, but why does she have to physically go to school? Why not just home school? Why does the onus of re-attending High School have to fall on Hannah’s shoulders? She clearly doesn’t want to. At least, not at first. They’re both intelligent, educated adults. Between the two of them, without the distractions and drama of High School, they could probably knock out her course work in a weekend, and then spend the rest of their time trying to figure out just what the heck is going on. Having her go to High School just creates needless obstacles and undue stress.

On a related note, while I get keeping her grades up (just in case), I’m not really sure how getting underage drunk and doing drugs is doing her daughter’s body and brain any favors. It’s like borrowing a friend’s car and then shitting in the backseat.

Even after she goes back to school, why not tell them she has amnesia from the accident?  I thought it would’ve been a good cover for any “odd” behavior.

I took it as she was washing and fondling that giant steak in the sink of a mobile home while Norman tried to shower, which is a weird sentence to write, and something you're definitely not ever supposed to do:

Food is so important to the story lol

Well, the steak looked like it was past well-done, into burnt territory, lol.

Also, never forget when LVP stopped Adrienne from washing her raw chicken with soap before cooking it.
