  1. It took her five and a half days to unravel his lies. I assume the long days included sleepless nights, where as the half day felt short. And then those three small words came way too late.
  2. I was referring to Rachel Leigh Cook, but I agree that Parker was an amazing villain there. Also random casting trivia from Wikipedia but I read this and thought how crazy would those alternate Vals had been?? I like Rosario here, I think she was a good choice.
  3. When she turned 'evil' for like a scene, I really wished she had played a villain in some movie during that time. I believe (and I could be wrong) she was always the 'girl-next-door' type in her movies, but she clearly could have played darker. She's one of those actresses I always like but kind of forget about. I was a freshman in high school - I was the perfect age for this. Also, this movie brought back a lot of fashion memories - the obscene amount of glitter, the half/banana style shirts, those eye gem things Josie's wears, I'm pretty sure I unsuccessfully attempted all of them at some point. Even the leopard print in pink/blue/purple I remember being a thing for a while. I wonder which came first.
  4. He landed safely, it was the Metallica fans that beat them up that caused all the injuries. The line that makes me laugh every time is at the end when the agent comes in and say 'Holy shit that girl has a skunk on her head" and then apologizes but follows it up with 'That's messed up'. I think this movie is fantastic, but the one thing I would do to change it is make Alan M. be like their videographer or something - have some written in reason why they keep performing directly to camera plus loop him into the story more. What was he even doing in New York while they were being a big deal for that week or so? Did the record company put him up too?
  5. I feel like if you weren't paying attention early on, you didn't realize the meta aspect of the movie. People going in thinking it was a fluff movie about comic book characters likely weren't expecting a movie about brainwashing and subliminal advertising. I can see how you'd be turned off by the immediate deluge of product placement. Perhaps if it wasn't based off existing characters it would have done better?
  6. I really enjoy this movie and actually bought it instead of renting for once because I knew I'd want to watch it again. I love this soundtrack, its so damn catchy. I had a lot of thoughts but the only one coming to mind at the moment is how evil the pilot at the beginning of the movie is. That guy was willing to kill the Pussycats with zero prompting. Did they hire an assassin with a pilot's license or did they hire a pilot and then force him to kill a bunch of bands until he was just conditioned?
  7. Season 1 is a fun teen show and I really loved it. Season 2, they realized they were successful and ramped up everything that worked to a point of excess. Its awful, mostly because they took these dark storylines that were also fun and a little silly and recreated it with zero fun. In the last episode there was a riot in the streets. Twice this season, there have been mother/daughter combos murdering an intruder in their home. Archie is the dumbest kid in the world and has formed multiple vigilante groups this year. Jughead runs gang that seems to only have teens? I hate it so much, but I watch tv with my friend every Tuesday and she insists we have to finish the season lol
  8. I am very much looking forward to the reaction of the people coming in blind to this movie. Unrelated, but
  9. Yay! I'm so excited! I LOVED this soundtrack and can't wait to get it stuck in my head again.
  10. Shouldn't this be 'What's in Grocery Store" ?
  11. I thought she committed suicide rather than go back. But in his fantasy life, she was murdered instead of leaving him.
  12. The scene where he and Robin Wright are eating yogurt and chatting, I thought 'this could be a scene from Iron Man with Pepper Potts'
  13. I had a hard time following what was going on in this movie, mostly because I was exhausted and kept zoning out at points, forcing me to rewind. But RDJ was super charismatic and I was curious as to where this fell in his life timeline. Wikipedia actually credits this movie for getting him back into the movie game. So thanks to this movie we got Iron Man?
  14. Up til the trailer credits spelled out who everyone was I thought 'huh, I know everyone in this but that random doctor." Turns out random doctor was Mel Gibson.

    Episode 187 - Beautiful Creatures

I don't have much to add yet since I was planning on watching the movie tomorrow, but I will agree that Penelope is a very cute movie. Reese Witherspoon is in it!

Musical Mondays Week 37 Blue Hawaii

Its pretty idiot proof and that family seems easily impressed and/or not used to good cooking. But it doesn't taste remotely similar to good fried chicken

That girl cannot be trusted for even a second. She gave away grandma's secret immediately.

Musical Mondays Week 37 Blue Hawaii

I like 'Can't Help Falling In Love' and 'Suspicious Minds' but my favorite is probably 'A Little Less Conversation'.

The reveal of the fruit stand made me laugh really hard. Such a convenient place for a ‘cold fruit’ stand

Musical Mondays Week 37 Blue Hawaii

I honest to god was shocked at that moment and really thought way too hard about the way the dress/swimsuit was constructed. All I've got is that it'd be a freaking nightmare if you had to use the bathroom during the day, but also I kinda want one anyway. That all confused me, plus the airport scene with her just running from the parking lot straight onto the airfield, and the real time shot of a plane landing. It was SO LONG. Then he lets her drive and almost gets them into a car accident - you had the chance to drive, you knew where she was likely taking you! Why was any of that in there? Nothing in the first like 15 minute tied into the rest of the movie aside from 'Chad just arrived home and is avoiding his parents'. Also side note on his parents - grown women that call their husbands 'daddy' gross me out to no end. I think runner up was that guy constantly calling mai tai's 'Tummy Warmers'. What the hell was that about? I'm still not sure what the takeaway was. She was a sexed up bratty teen because no one had taken the time to beat it out of her?

OMG YES. I was getting so nervous for the dog. Also where did the dog come from? He wasn't there before swimming and then just appeared.

First of all, I love that movie. Yes its terrible, but it has a lot of charming actors in it. But I agree with you. While I didn't love a couple side things going on in the movie - mainly anything to do with the surly 17 year old - and I did start fast forwarding through songs at one point (just because I was super tired and wanted to finish before bed), I thought it was a quick moving, fluff film. It was fun to see Hawaii, the songs were fun and I loved all of Maile's outfits.

Musical Mondays Week 37 Blue Hawaii

Plot A: Elvis is a self centered prick that trips into being a tour guide. Plot B: A terrible educator takes a group of girls on a never ending Hawaiian vacation in order to find a husband. Seriously, did they not have flights? They changed the length of the trip like three times in the course of this movie.

And he follows that up with telling her that he's mostly been 'true' to her. Meaning he was cheating on her all over Europe. She could do so much better.
