    Episode 139 - Simply Irresistible

I love that the IMDB plot synopsis author totally loses steam in trying to describe the action of this terrible movie. "But when one night they begin kissing, they float up to the ceiling of the restaurant and Tom begins thinking that Amanda is a witch. Amanda is heartbroken and still has to do the event for him. Tom is feeling confused on what to do, but makes the right decision in the end." Based on this episode and the comments, I infer that "the right decision" was to drive his car off a bridge?
  2. "photograph of a dead clown" made me LOSE. MY SHIT. Such a great show!
  3. Gary Anthony Williams was a DELIGHT! Great show, so needed today
  4. I haven't listened to the episode yet but already amused by how long I seriously wondered if Mandell Maughan went topless except for a Starbucks apron to the show.

    Episode 426 - Schwartz & Schwarts

I had no idea that Bobby C from 'Saturday Night Fever' was based on Kurt Cobain

    Episode 424 - Almost Parasites

Crap Pollo sounds like Bruce Lee doing an impersonation of Udo Kier.
  7. God bless the Howl.fm family for keeping all the references of my youth fresh, dropping Lollapalooza-performing circus-folk references like 1996 was only a few years ago.
  8. Someone please check on Chris, I think he took the end of that call very hard lol! I totally believe the caller when he says he was at work, you could hear people talking in the background as he was trying to get off the phone. That said, not to start arguments in the forums, but to offer a differing opinion: everyone experiences addiction differently, as everyone will experience the recovery process differently. Maybe some former alcoholics/heroin addicts/meth abusers/etc can smoke pot on the weekends and consider themselves sober. Others don't consider themselves "clean" until they've kicked cigarettes and caffeine as well. I think it's important that people dealing with addiction be allowed to dictate the parameters of their sobriety (not, obviously, in the legal sense, but in the sense that they be given control over their own narratives). "Perfection is the enemy of progress", and someone who went from being a falldown drunk with a history of fist fights with his roommates might feel that just being the guy who gets a little stoned at barbeques is a far enough journey.

    Rent-a-Cop (1987)

I don't know if it will be possible to do this one as I haven't found this modern epic available digitally anywhere, but I was luckily able to find a DVD copy at the awesome Scarecrow Video in Seattle, WA. Frankly, I was shocked it had ever been released on DVD. 'Rent-a-Cop' is an incredible exercise in stunt casting done 10 years too late with Burt Reynolds and Liza Minnelli both working off what seems like 2 totally separate versions of the same film. Liza Minnelli plays call-girl Della Roberts in what appears to be the wardrobe for her character Lucille 2 from 'Arrested Development'. Burt Reynolds doesn't fare much better as disgraced cop Tony Church wearing a Halloween costume of Mike Meyer's "Chicago Bears Superfan" from SNL. But all of that pales in comparison to James Remar's villain, Dancer, a name as literal as it is ridiculous. You have to see it to believe it with this one, but the magic of this performance will stay with you for a lifetime. Dionne Warwick makes an appearance as a glamorous madam and Richard Masur does what he did best in the 80s: sweat in a yuppie power suit. My friends and I had a blast watching this and giving it the MST3K-treatment and would love to hear the HDTGM crew's take on this campy action comedy!

    Episode 130 - Teen Witch

It's funny, I've listened to every episode of this show but I never felt so compelled to comment before this movie (hence the delay in registration to verification etc.) I don't even have much to say about it, it's like it has taken the meaning of all words away! I just can't get over that how much this movie, so obviously for and about teen girls, was made by people who so obviously despise teen girls. That said, Viva Deanna! She was great, she and June riffing on their childhood was perfect for the movie, and I love that she admitted she was 'meh' about films. There is so much media and so little time, enjoy what you want.

    Episode 130 - Teen Witch

Would commenting about Teen Witch at this point be the equivalent of talking about the Speed 2 episode?
