My grandmother's family is from Balkin Kentucky(she's a coal miner's daughter and everything) and every time I'm around my "hillbilly cousins " I always end up talking with a twang (as a child i would excitedly say MOMMA I'M SPEAKIN SOUTHERN! ) I know that's more Appalachia than Deep South but it's as close as my Northern ass is ever going to get. I like your analysis of Macon. I would like to add on to this idea : Not only is he using an over the top accent but I also think both he and his mother and sister's clothing choices also represent the Old South and being stuck in the past. Their elaborate costumes and sumptuous fabrics are a bit at odds with Lena's more simple choices (her gowns in the film are rather plain and she wears very little jewelry) She's in a state of flux. She could go either way and is trying to suppress herself and not give in to any dark desires. Her cousin on the other hand dresses in an outlandish and provocative manner because she has fully given herself to the dark. After Lean comes into herself at the end you can see she seems much more at home in her clothes and is in a sort of hipster vintage chic which makes me think of how many cities in the south are slowly coming back and becoming places full of young hip people. I know right now Nashville has really becoming the big It city much like Austin was a few years ago. I have no idea how I am finding so much meaning in this piece of garbage.

Thanks I also just have no life and am obessive honestly the only thing in this movie I'm ok with about this movie the fact that there are 12 churches and one library because I also live in a town with an obscenely large number of churches for some odd reason. The towns much bigger than Gatlin but I'm still not convinced it's not on top of a hellmouth. I can't explain why else we have so many of them. we have like 6 in our downtown street alone.

Personally I'm surprised that they were allowed to show Final Destination 5 at the theater if this town is meant to be SO hardcore Christian that people who volunteer for Greenpeace are seen as Sinners doomed for hell. There's no way Harry Potter would be allowed and I feel like Thor would be pushing it what with Norse mythology and false idols and all

There's a small movie theater in one of the many smallish towns near mine that I grew up going to (my grandparents have lived in this area my whole life) and even though it's pretty small they started started doing the simulcasts from the Met Opera a few years ago and I've been able to see some really amazing productions I would never have been able to see otherwise.

She moved around a lot at different schools. Wasn't that one of the things the Fake Church! Lady version of Emma Thompson used against her at that meeting? that there were a bunch of accidents at all her old schools and even a few deaths? Ok so at the start of the movie Ethan's friend mention's his dad recently died as well right? He says his mom is even worse now that is dad is dead. Did his dad die at the same time as Ethan's mom? Is it not weird that they are both dead in what sounds like a relatively short period of each other? My mom died when I was 21 (14 months after one of her younger brother's on top of it all. my poor grandmother) and it was a big deal because I was the first person my age/ group of friends to lose a parent. If I was a teen living in a small town and both I AND my bet friend lost one of our parents randomly around the same time wouldn't that be weird? Like did they die together?

I'm dying to know what other products the Rvenwood family hawks like the Bluth's frozen bananas and their defective Corn Baller. Since they are in Georgia I'm assuming they have to have their hands in the pecan industry to go along with some candied bacon for a Sinfully Sweet treat . A local bbq restaurant did chocolate covered bacon for a while. So i like to think Macon's Bacon's would also carry that. In both dark and white so you don't need to fight inner self ! (though why anyone would want white chocolate on bacon I don't know but... why you would want to eat chocolate covered bacon is a mystery to me as well so *shrugs*

Clearly the teacher is also an overly devoted cat person and he takes things from his students and gives them to his cat. I'm dying to see what else his cat wears / owns now. Considering the fact the founders of the town are caster I have a feeling they definitely owned slaves. Like I got the impression that The Ravenwood family may have owned Viola Davis's ancestors when she chastised Macon for expecting help from her /from her family instead of asking for it for much like his family has done for years. Also how much of that library was built my magic? What are the rules for magic building in this world even? Like can they say a spell and poof underground secret library! Or did someone (most likely slaves) have to carve out those tunnels and build it? Once built do the just magically move it around? So maybe some people could have tried to use it as a part of the /underground Railroad but I feel like the white Casters in the area were most likely slave owners and on the side of the Confederacy Sidenote: I think given the way it's decorated maybe this is part of the Lost Library of Alexandria or something if they can magically move shit around.

I'm just thankful Ethan wasn't obsessed with Catcher in the Rye. Like it's on his little vision board but he is apparently into Vonnegut more than Salinger or Hemingway for which I eternally thankful.

I think she's one of those women (particular Southern women according to tv and movies) who doesn't think any woman is good enough for her perfect angel. Like I bet if there was another girl from their social circle she would have been nicer but still a bitch.

My mom went in the 90's and I have a bunch of photos of her and her coworkers / hosts who were showing them around for the week . Truly the most amazing and tacky place ever. I mean my dreams involve things like Tina Fey selling me to Donatella Versace or involve me building a wall/ fort made out of mashed potatoes in a great aunt's backyard so honestly meeting someone in my dreams would not help that relationship at all. If anything it would be a detriment.

Oh god i would LOVE to do the awful 50 Shades movie but at the same time I'm gonna need to be really really drunk. Like I might need a babysitter drunk least i end up needing to cut open my couch again... I watched the first one with a group of friends online back to back with another equally awful BDSM romance Secretary (which gave said group of friends the term Worm Job so... i guess thanks for that James Spader). I know I was bored through most of the film and what kept it interesting was the group of people I was watching with many of whom were in some part or another of the BDSM scene themselves/ knew a bit about it and it was just a lot of interesting ranting about how Wrong everything was. Not to mention super abusive. i have a friend who willingly forced herself to read the books and I followed another person journey on her blog reading them and it's... next level. I will never forget that there's a throw away line about the main guy having his poor maid clean his butt plugs. Like that poor woman better get hazard pay. I still say we should do Showgirls first though if we're going to do an over the top trying to hard to be sexy movie. I would say we should do Showgirls for almost any reason though so i'm not to be trusted.

I think I saw the start of this movie on netflix one night before i passed out from a muscle relaxer i got from really bad cramps and it was a WILD ride but that could have been the meds... I do know the accents alone are thicker than cream cheese frosting and I for one cannot wait to see it if this is what i think it is
