  1. Rio Bravo comes to mind. It was conceived by Howard Hawks and John Wayne as a reaction to High Noon. Both of them were frustrated by the fact that Gary Cooper's character kept asking everyone in town for help instead of (presumably) manning up and taking care of it himself. Of course, Wayne's character in Rio Bravo is hardly alone, as he has two deputies (played by Ricky Nelson and Dean Martin) helping him from scene one.

     

    I would love a "Rio Bravo" v. "High Noon" episode!

  2. I love the Poe films that Roger Corman did in the '60s. I think it lends itself well to a versus episode: Mask of the Red Death vs. House of Usher? Raven vs. Tales of Terror?

     

    I would love a discussion on whether or not this cycle of films is culturally significant enough for the canon, and, if they are, what film is the best representative of the lot.
