  1. My anaconda don't want none unless you got buns, hun. Yeah, he's stopped eating the mice I normally put in and only wants bread!
  2. Who would've guessed that disgraced Sammy Hagar would have to drop a "g" from his name and lose financial support from the pants empire?

    Cabin Fever (2002)

Bumping this one to commemorate the 2016 remake which boasts 0% on Rotten Tomatoes and a box office haul of about $40k. The original logged in at 62% and $33.6M. I think doing a two-part with the 2002 original and this year's remake would make for a good live episode. Here's the AV Club's take on it, which might be an argument to just review the remake, considering the original was pretty successful...and the fact that they're so similar. "Remake culture quietly hit rock bottom with this “new” Cabin Fever, whose supreme pointlessness at least poses a radical question: What if they shot a movie for absolutely no one? Faced with the imminent threat that his gross-out debut was going to be remade with or without him, splatter maverick Eli Roth opted to “protect” his vision by dusting off a 14-year-old screenplay and commissioning some slick hack to film it all over again. Scene for scene, line for line, it’s basically the same goopy horror-comedy, only with Roth’s borderline camp swapped out for a straight-faced grimness. Fans didn’t ask for it. Detractors could detect no improvements. And the uninitiated could just rent the original. In other words, we all needed this creatively bankrupt copy job about as much as a flesh-eating virus." Out of curiosity, anyone have thoughts on what the shortest time is between an original and remake? Excluding foreign films remade in the US, of course. This one comes in at 14 years, which is really short.

    Stone Cold (1991)

Additional bump to AbeFroman's bump. This one just showed up in another review list about great cinema. I like the double feature idea. I don't know if "I Come In Peace" has been recommended, but it should absolutely make the list for upcoming shows.

    The Guyver (1991)

The gymnastics and demonic reindeer at 0:44 make me want to see this film. I had never heard of it before. What's with the title? Did they know about the US action show MacGyver?

    Collateral Beauty (2016)

I'm going to throw it out there...the cinematic world would be better served if Sir Smith had retired after the documentary chronicling his days as a Bel Air aristocrat. I admittedly haven't seen many of his films, but what I have seen isn't up to snuff.
  7. Lots of ripe cinematic turds for the picking in this list. Lots of crap here. Surprisingly, I've actually seen more than one favorable review of London Has Fallen, which is hugely surprising. The quotes alone in that movie make it cinematic diarrhea. I am surprised Nine Lives isn't closer to the top, but maybe it was intentionally placed at #9 for numeric sentiment. http://www.avclub.co...lms-2016-247125

You should get a little more bent out of shape over a benign internet forum comment. Happy holidays!

Agreed. More of him and Jeffrey Characterwheaties, the actor who portrays Zouks. These guys deserve more airtime.

    Best of 2016 Pt. 1

I went back and listened to this particular episode again, and nothing. These guys are nowhere near the caliber of Andy Daly, John Daly, PFT, Nick Kroll, etc. The only thing I like about Schwartz shows is how excited Scott gets and how he really cuts loose. And maybe I'm not a fan of Horatio, because I didn't like him on SNL. Otherwise, largely forgettable for me, though I can see why some might like them.
  13. Stranger Things is a show that aired in 2016, but that title could be used to summarize the year. I mean, 366 days? Come on!
  14. Yes, I remade the mashed potato Devil's Tower from Close Encounters. No, not because of an alien message. I was carbo loading and felt artistic!

Speaking of "traditions are made to be broken", here's to hoping that the Ben Schwartz/Horatio Sanz annual doesn't continue in 2017. I just can't get into Schwartz. Maybe I'm a big Scroogey McWetblanket, or even Scroogey McPoopypants, but that was an unfortunate beginning to one of my favorite shows of the year. At least that means it's out of the way...although I know there's still a solo bolo lurking...
  17. I went to my first Christmas Key Party this weekend. I have no idea what going home with a stranger has to do with Christmas. Just jingling bells?
  18. In an interesting turn of events, a feral dog howled, "a baby ate my dingo!"
  19. Menudo has been successful as a boy band. As a soup, international appeal isn't as strong. The commonality is beefy stomachs.
  20. I recently watched Mr. Holland's Opus. Last year, I ran into Mr. Opus in Holland. Both events good at the time, though largely forgettable now.
  21. I am working on my yule log for yuletide, so you'll forgive me if I don't make time for Yul Brynner this yule, y'all.
  22. Maybe I'm being too literal, but my idea of a space opera would have had Pavarotti as Obi Wan and Placido Domingo as the Emperor or Mace Windu.
