  1. Hey guys! Sorry I've been so MIA lately and didn't even participate in my last pick lol. Work has been a bit hectic, but I'll try to pop in when I can. If you're making a new sign up list then maybe don't have me on there, until I'm able to participate more and then I'll ask to be added in the rotation. I do miss you guys! Sorry I suck, lol.
  2. Oooh I'm not sure if this one counts as a musical or not? I know the remakes are for sure, I'm not sure how musical this one is lol
  3. I've been good! Lot of changes and been a bit hectic but all good things hope everyone's been doing well
  4. Panic pick, but have wanted to watch the original and think it's on Amazon Prime/streaming right now.. A Star is Born (1937) And I'm sure we can definitely discuss/compare the remakes (especially the latest one)

Musical Mondays Week 44 Easter Parade

I know I somewhat mentioned in the last thread, but there was a nod to the Top Hat dance number where Ginger wore the dress with the feathers. Astaire really hated that dress... I wonder if it was his idea to parody it in Easter Parade? http://prettycleverfilms.com/costume-design-film-fashion/ginger-rogers-the-infamous-feather-gown/#.W1-g0VBKg2w

Musical Mondays Week 44 Easter Parade

Yea I can get that.. I do feel like he was charming, but feel like it was like he could turn on the charm whenever he wants, but also got a vibe that he is kind of demanding/intimidating. I wonder if that's how he was like in real life? Like from reading up about him and also about the relationship he had with Ginger Rogers off-screen... I can def see that.

I thought Judy was pretty charming herself, and funny! This scene I literally lol'ed.

Musical Mondays Week 44 Easter Parade

That was one of my favorite scenes. I loved his dancing in the toy store with the drums and only Astaire could steal a toy from a kid and still come off charming af.

Musical Mondays Week 44 Easter Parade

Yea, I don't know that she'd be better off with Lawford really. Like everyone else said earlier-- I also wasn't sure what his purpose was or what his deal was. I think he cared about Hannah more than Nadine for sure, but not convinced he really loved her. But I appreciated that he wasn't pushy with Hannah to try to convince her to go with him.

Musical Mondays Week 44 Easter Parade

It really is. Especially since in both cases I'm not sure why Hannah and Eliza (in My Fair Lady's case) go for the older grumps and not the younger, much nicer guys who sing lovely songs to them.
  13. Probably me, lol. I rarely write reviews and like garbage movies.
  14. There's definitely a nod to Top Hat in this movie, so I'm sure we'll go there!
  15. Lol, I think I'll stick with my pick and not have everyone hate me.
  16. First-- sorry I have been MIA in Musical Mondays lately. I'll try to get back in it AAAND for my pick I was debating between a couple movies but I decided to go with...
  17. I'll post my pick when I get into work soon...

  19. Nice! Been wondering when we'd do this one. I loved when I first saw, but after reflecting I do understand a lot of the criticisms people had around Oscar season last year. I am curious to revisit and see if it holds up with a second viewing.
  20. The howie scream is one I hear everywhere.. and did not ever look it up until now, so I now I know for sure it IS in fact in everything and know what it's called. Thanks guys. And now after researching, I realize my first experience of the howie scream probably came from Ahh Real Monster's opening credit song (at the end).
  21. I haven't rewatched yet for this week But I did rewatch it sometime last year after not seeing it for years. I still really liked it but I also felt like some things did not quite hold up. The songs are still solid though. Even though it still held up pretty well for me and I have nostalgic ties with this movie, I can understand why it doesn't work for everyone. Def one of my favorite Simpsons eps....That's right, Lieutenant LT Smash
  22. YESSS!! Finally! Excited to talk about with everyone. I was prob going to do as my 3rd pick if no one did before me.

Musical Monday Week 36 Om Shanti Om

See I liked the over-the-top-ness of the first half, lol. Think the once it became a little more serious it lost me a little. Maybe the length got to me a little.. I should've broken it up like most of you did. But I still really liked it! I agree. I could still enjoy the movie not knowing all the references. But at the same time I still wanted to know what they were parodying or nodding to, to be fully "in" on the joke. The part when Om saved Shanti from the fire on set was a reference:

Musical Monday Week 36 Om Shanti Om

I agree with y'all. This was enjoyable and fun to watch. And the cameos and references did make me wish I had more knowledge of Bollywood, but wasn't necessary to really enjoy. I liked that it was both a parody while at the same time being a sincere tribute to Bollywood. I loved the first half, but will say the 2nd half started to lose me a little. But overall it was a fun watch and visually was captivating with all the colors and enjoyed a lot of the musical numbers. This re-affirmed I do need to check out more Bollywood films. I loved him, lol. I'll probably start there.
  25. Nice, I've been eyeballing this one on Netflix.. I've wanted to watch some more Bollywood. I didn't mean to be MIA for the last few, I was laid off from my job end of January. And the job hunt took a bit longer than I was expecting. BUT all is good now and start my new job tomorrow I'll definitely be hopping back in these convos. And did anyone watch the Jesus Christ Superstar Live thing? I'm like 20 mins in (it's available on Hulu).
