  1. This was recently added to Amazon Prime, streaming for free along with all the other Indiana Jones movies. There is so much for the HDTGM team to discuss.

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009)

How has this movie not yet been covered by the podcast? I was forced to watch it once in a finance office waiting area when it first came out on DVD. Others are clamoring for Brendan Fraser flicks for HDTGM. Well, he's in this in an uncredited cameo. There are so many WTF moments, copious amounts of terrible CGI, and bad acting (both expected and unexpected). The neverending flashbacks are possibly the most bonkers aspect of the movie. Spoiler alert, the big twist is God awful embarrassing for Joseph Gordon-Levitt. I couldn't help posting a super cut of the nanomites destroying the Eiffel Tower (in a cloud of green smoke?): https://youtu.be/URSjzUBiW1Q

    Monkeybone (2001)

Much like Southland Tales, Monkeybone is such an unpleasant experience that I really don't want HDTGM to cover it. Please don't make me relive this literal nightmare.
  4. I watched the full length Movie Bitches review of "La La Land" today after listening to the HDTGM prequel episode. The Movie Bitches reminded me of this terrible Woody Allen movie that has plenty for the HDTGM team to discuss. The cast of non-singing actors doing musical numbers goes on & on: Julia Roberts, Goldie Hawn, Alan Alda, Natalie Portman, Gaby Hoffman, Natasha Lyonne, Edward Norton, Tim Roth. At least Drew Barrymore had the decency to demand a dub! Here's the clip sampled by the movie bitches...

    Down With Love (2003)

This (appropriately) forgotten film of Ewan McGregor and Renee Zellweger should have been great and was made at the height of their popularity, sandwiched between his prequels and her Academy award nominations. This film is terrible. It's amazing Peyton Reed went on to direct anything else, let alone Jim Carrey and Marvel movies. The entire crew appears to have toiled mightily to satirize the Doris Day-Rock Hudson sex comedies, but it's an unfunny mess. The HDTGM crew did so well with Simply Irresistible, why aren't they tackling more bad rom coms like this one? The Amazon DVD description: Renee Zellweger (Chicago) and Ewan McGregor (Moulin Rouge) are the toast of the town in the most stylish romantic comedy of the year! From the producers of American Beauty and the director of Bring It On comes a teasing, tantalizing battle of the sexes that is "pure enchantment" (Daily News). When best-selling feminist author Barbara Novak (Zellweger) becomes the target of dashing playboy Catcher Block (McGregor), these sparring, would-be lovers generate enough sparks to fly you to the moon and back. In other words, the ultimate catch has just met his match!
  6. The Young Pope 20 years ago...cracking jokes! This bonkers romantic dramedy stars Jude Law, Gretchen Mol, Jeremy Piven, and Martha Plimpton. It features a child delivering a baby, Jennifer TIlly playing a blind woman, Actors Without Dicks, a woman being duped into sex via a two-headed coin flip by her STALKER, and excessive use of Savage Garden's "Truly Madly Deeply." Jude Law and Martha Plimpton have some pretty good one-liners, but the movie is full of unintentional hilarity. Music From Another Room is available in its entirety on YouTube. Here's the trailer: https://youtu.be/ZP12lveblKo

    Music From Another Room (1998)

The actual line, delivered by two-time Academy Award nominee Brenda Blethyn is, "This is the man child who thrust these very hands deep inside my reluctant womb and wrestled, wrestled until he had wrenched life itself from my unwilling loins." To which Jeremy Piven responds, "That's the retard."

    Dungeons & Dragons (2000)

Before Assassin's Creed, Jeremy Irons hammed it up in this gem. You think he would've learned. With a production budget of $45 million, this bomb made less than $34 million worldwide. It's a shame Battlefield Earth dominated at the 2001 Razzie's. There is more than enough material for HDTGM. How did this beget 2 direct to dvd sequels?

    Down With Love (2003)

"Well-made" doesn't a good movie make. The film admittedly looks gorgeous, but the leads have no chemistry and the tone is tiresome after 10 minutes. I first saw this movie at a early screening sponsored by Tanqueray that was preceded by a cocktail party with gin & tonics flowing. I thought it was great. I bought it when it came out on DVD - in pink packaging - and quickly realized that, without gin, this movie is terrible. Even Legally Blonde wasn't sold in a pink DVD case. It's worldwide total box office gross ($39,468,111) barely matched it's budget of $35,000,000. It was a huge summer bomb. https://youtu.be/tpT63DNiMUw

    Country Strong (2010)

I initially thought of this movie as good for HDTGM, but then I realized that mocking it would come off as insensitive to mental illness and addiction plus not politically correct. It's a legitimately bad movie with an anti-climactic off-camera tragedy at the end (almost a reverse deus ex machina & inexplicably filmed from the perspective of a pedestrian on the sidewalk outside of a hospital) followed by a cutesy coda that does not belong in the movie.

    Jem and The Holograms (2015)

I cannot believe that HDTGM has not yet done this. June MUST have seen this show. The movie is an absolute abomination for anyone who loved this show as a kid (me included). The only reason I can think for them not to do it is that Nostalgic Critic already tore it apart. I challenge the HDTGM crew to one up Nostalgic Critic and take this movie down! It's worth it just to hear Jason describe the the mid-credits sequence...bananas, mental, or pure genius?

    Krull (1983)

Along with Teen Witch and Seven Minutes in Heaven, this movie LIVED on HBO in the late '80s. There is so much good stuff for HDTGM to discuss and mock. I really liked this movie as a child and own the DVD from the early 2000s. I completely understand what makes it terrible, but it still has a special place in my heart. I remember seeing this around the same time as the Dark Crystal and thinking they were similar, but this wasn't as scary. The B story about the old guy and the widow of the web was one of the most compelling aspects, and Francesca Annis is gorgeous. As others have commented, James Horner's score is simply spectacular, and Krull will live forever in the strains of its score that can be picked up in numerous subsequent movies (Aliens, Titanic, the Magnificent Seven, to name a few).

    Cherry 2000 (1987)

As a child, I felt so bad for Cherry at the end when the guy left her for Melanie Griffith. I remember being mad that he was completely unfeeling toward Cherry. She had all her memories of their relationship, and then he abandons her in the desert? What a dick. Take out the mini-CD-rom and don't force her to continue operating with those memories! I recall her kind of bumbling around the dunes being played for laughs. June needs to sink her teeth into this one.
