No one on here (or on the podcast) mentioned it, but the champagne bottle was an homage to a pivotal scene in GOT last season (among all the other references)
-
nobody here is talking about the GOT/Wrestling references. It makes me sad. Other than this podcast, the wrestling drew me in, but they didn't stop talking about GOT...and I'm glad they shitted on D&D

There's a really cheap indie film she did called "Daughter of the Wolf" with Richard Dreyfuss, just shows that she's really coming into her own as a legit on-screen bad ass.she was the first Ronda Rousey, but she's actually doing better in Hollywood
also, topical to this episode, she was the villain in Deadpool (with Ryan Reynolds)

One of a whole punch of WWE references in this movie, which is to be expected with The Rock, even going as far as casting his cousin, Roman Reigns, who was basically there to do a bunch of his moves in the Samoan fight scene.
Speaking of Roman, one thing that wasn't brought up on the podcast is that he filmed his scenes in the move, while he was going through a battle with leukemia. Dude was running round spearing motherfuckers, and driving around in high-powered trucks, while he was getting treatment for leukemia!
what up Uce! you know what's up. #ROMANWINSLOL

holy shit! just got out of this and now about to listen to ep. I know Paul marked the f out during this movie.
So many great GOT/WWE references
1. GOT - Arya dagger/NK- shaw does it w/champagne bottle
2. Lannister pays/knows nothing
3. "shock the system" (ADAM COLE BAY BAY!)
4. USO (so good!)
5. Numbers don't lie (BIG POPPA PUMP)
and the best one of all (that I called too)
6. ROMAN FUCKING REIGNS WITH THE SPEAR AND HOOOOAHHHHHHHH
I enjoyed the shit out of this movie. so great. also Rock did his trademark stuff
note: got 5 mins into ep this morn, turned it off, and bought a ticket to movie. had to watch before i listened
edit: also random, Rock's brother, Jonah, was the main Mexican bad guy in Training Day--the one that called his niece and ended up sparing Ethan
edit 2: yes. Italian Job. I wrote that down while watching, but I forgot that JS was in the movie and second-guessed myself

we're close to it now. maybe someone will old face him too while they're at it

Another great example of a “deadfall” is from Predator when Arnold is trapped in the woods.
He kicks the trap and and all the large trees fall onto the predator—ultimately leading to its demise.

holy shit. Just got out of the theater for Crawl ($5 Tuesday at amc lol)
wow. I don’t wanna give much away but this movie was next level insane. So many gators. Once it was over, all I could think of was “they have to do this movie”.

TBH, I liked this the whole way through, but I might've not paid attention at some parts b/c I didn't really get the ending. I went on reddit to figure it out lmao

This was amazing. I was at the live show in ATX.
I have two comments from the ep:1. I lost it when they mentioned Nirvana b/c I tried to send this to them earlier that morning
2. I can't believe Queen man won the 2nd Opinion slot. I def hoped the girl who did hers to Deep In the Heart of TX would win; The crowd just clapped right with her and flabbergasted Jason, lol. Also, the obligatory "June, John, and Jason".

Jfc. It literally goes a complete square block long. They better delay the show. No way in hell everyone’s in even close to 3. Even 3:30.
They opened doors late tho
-
Watching it now. This has a lot of production value lol. I'm curious to see how it plays out

That’d be sick!
true story. We went to paramount show but then dicked around Rainey and 6th st.
Close to 12, we walked by Alamo and I saw an Idiocracy shirt inside so we went in and looked at em. Then, my gf made a noise. I looked to the right and saw Jason, Paul, and Kroll come down stairs. All I could do was stare and give a “hey”, lol.
It was the highlight of the trip.

That would be amazing. Majestic Theater would be an amazing place to do it!

Until I saw that date and then I cried because I have a shoot
I would've also been driving in from Dallas so I suggest Paul, Jason, and June open up their Texas cities to include us in the North lol.

i was able to figure out PRESALE on second try. Nice!
coming in from Dallas. Three yrs been too long!!

Just like Jason, I own this on VHS as well and watched it all the time when I was younger, lol.
However, until this last time I watched it, I never realized all the connections to 80's action movies this has (mainly Predator).
Carl was in Predator w/Arnie, but 2 of the others on the team (Mac, Billy) are in this as well. Also, the guy who Arnie kills on the plane in Commando is in this as well.
Also, there's a scene where they hit a guy onto a spike and impale him--that happened in Commando as well.
Also, multiple people from Die Hard are in this as well (short Asian guy, blond guy who manned the front desk).
Long story short, this movie is all about the ACTION (and keeping it in the family).
Lastly, on a side note, is Vanity now the Queen of HDTGM? She's been in three of the movies (Action, Last Dragon, Stargrove John Stamos movie)

this movie is straight cringe lol. Those strip scenes w/the guys just passionately kissing everyone.
That would never happen in any club. This movie is wild as hell for 1983

-
wow. This guy is riding a recumbent bike in 1983.
Truly ahead of his time--living in 2018 back then.
-
oh snap. the main lady from Pure Country is in this--George Strait's mgr, Lula
-
Ok guys, I know I'm horribly late (esp since i listened to the ep already), but I'm finally watching Beastly right now. OMG, this is too wild.
Some things I don't remember hearing during the ep:
1. Mary Kate Olsen
2. Guy from Six Feet Under is in it--never registered when they kept saying Peter Krause (I kept thinking of Martin Kove for some reason)
3. he's not scaled at all--just weird ass tree henna everywhere.
-
I forgot how creepy the intro to this movie was. This is straight insane.
Also, the guy who played Casey Jones in TMNT is in this--prob riding that wave (since this was made in 1990).
-
Listened to ep yesterday. watching movie right now.
Is Scribbles the kid? What other movie was he in where he was named Scribbles? I haven't heard anyone called that yet.
Also, this shit is horrible lol
Episode 221. The Hottie and the Nottie
in How Did This Get Made?

This isn’t really movie related, but I’m getting tired of the second opinion songs. People take way too long and are just trying to get themselves over.
When you’re at the live show, it’s even worse b/c there’s like 5-7 people trying to do it
This is one was way too long.
Short and sweet = success
