    Jeff Q&A

I find myself somewhat frustrated with the advertising from time to time, though I realize that it's a vital part of funding Earwolf, and thus is something that I'm more than willing to put up with. That said, is it at all practical to run a Kickstarter or something to fund Earwolf without advertising, for some period of time? The more I think about that the dumber it sounds (it would probably just be a good way to jeopardize your relationship with the advertisers), so I guess I'm just asking how thoroughly dumb that idea is...

    Skype D&D Nerd Poker Group

I might also be interested depending on how it works out and if there is still a need for more people. I've just started playing thanks in large part to this podcast. (I have 3.5 stuff thusfar)

    Episode 104 — Hardwickipedia

Like that one random guy, I also hated Chris Hardwick for a long time, until I realized that I had no real reason to hate him. Then I listened to him on a couple of different podcasts, and realized that I enjoy his sense of humor. The Skyrim refference made me very happy.
  4. It seems like 'resign' might not be too high-falootin' a word for a game that prizes high-falootin' words. Context. Maybe too much for Draw Something or Angry Birds or something, but a word game should maybe have some license to be excessively verbose...

    Episode 59 — Human Energy

They've already released the Bible Part Three; The Quran. It came out about 500 or so years after the New Testament. I think the Book of Mormon falls into the same realm of bible sequels, but it's hard to pin down what edition it is because even though it came out after the Quran, it totally ignores the previously established cannon. Anyway, they've already released a bunch of Bible Sequels, and you're going to have to go a bit farther than 3 if you don't want to step on previous releases.

How can we improve the Earwolf.com forums?

Now that I'm able to navigate directly to my profile from anywhere in the forums, I'd like to be able to navigate directly to my account from anywhere in the greater site as a whole. Because I always want more.

    Episode 17 — Immortality

Hey, eventually we'll figure out how to copy a personality into an invincible Terminator shell, and we'll all live forever as super-robots.

    Episode 23 — Weapons

I love how you keep asking the Pysicist how he would go about killing everyone. By the way, Robert Ike (fizzicist), I notice that all the elements at the bottom of the periodic table are all radioactive all the time, and they're at the bottom of the table because they're larger (have more parts in a corospondingly greater volume) than the elements above them. So are they radioactive because the valance shells are placed far enough from the nucleus that the attractive force of the protons is no longer strong enough to hold the rapidly revolving electrons in orbit? Or am I not thinking about this right?
  9. I just listened to TL's first Earwolf episode (with Matt Besser!), and between that and the passing of time, I'm less mad now. I still don't think think the best show won, but I'm ready to admit that it's a good show. And y'all know that it's all about what I think.

Episode 88 — Vanity Plates! Incest!

Kudos to Besser for logically assesing sibling incest. Not many people have the guts to speak against illogical but deeply entrenched cultural taboos like that. (I'd suggest that if they do some screening to makes sure the DNA doesn't get fucked up, they could have kids, too) TL was not my favorite pick during the Challenge, but if you can delve into serious issues like that while keeping it entertaining, I'll certianly keep listening.

gnaB gnaB ydemoC s'ti, it's Comedy Bang Bang!

    Thanks for clearing that up.
  12. Now I'm no fan of Justin Beiber, but I didn't know that abrasive gossip was a favored pastime in Sklarbro country. I would have figured the calming shores as a more live-and-let-live kind of place. I love the show, but really. Don't hate.
  13. When I heard it mentioned that LDDC let their guests overshadow them 'like the Bob and Dan cast did when they got eliminated', I started having fear flashbacks. The shadow of doubt really established itself in my mind every time Scott seemed sort of reticent to note that LDDC's submission was "a little bit funnier". Nevertheless, I held out hope until the bitter end. Frankly, Matt Besser became my favorite person in the world when he voted for LDDC. Ah well. It was not meant to be. I will argue that The Little Dumb Dumb Club seems to me to be more marketable, even beyond the fact that I find it funnier. In my opinion, Australian accents will trump married couple banter as a marketable novelty ever time. Of course, I don't know anything about marketing, so there's that. What it comes down to for me is that Totally Laime is just really not for me. I am way more interested in something that is really funny, even with occasional lulls, than something that is reliably mildly entertaining. I also am not really feeling the adorability vibe. But to quote the great Scott Aukerman, "Art is for the people who likes it." So I don my fire-proof teeshirt, and bid a fond farewell to season one of the Earwolf challenge. Whatever else I might want to say about the desicions, I was on the edge of my seat all the way.

  15. By the way, I feel like this thread is probably stale enough by now that it's OK to start over-posting, right? I mean, it FEELS like a long time since Wednesday... Can I get some confirmation on how long it's polite to wait for a thread to wind down to just the belligerents? There must be some statute of limitations, right? I have a lot of time on my hands you guys...

  17. Carefull with the abbreviations, now. You wouldn't want to look like a common Troll. The gentleman Internet Contrarian must answer to a higher code of ethics, and when you cross that line, you move from "just kind of a dick" to "legitimately bad person".

  19. @Dirk I feel like I should also go back and quote Scott: "@Dirk, the only thing you want to watch out for is grinding the same axe over and over... that's when we start to ban, is when it seems like someone is waiting to pounce on any post that disagrees with them. I think once you've made your point, let it simmer and be discussed for a while before coming in to defend it." I don't think either of us is really all that interested in doing that. Hence "Somewhere else". Also, look at poor Mark Watson's above post! I'd hate to think that I contributed in scaring away people who have a more casual interest in the forums with my love of disagreeing with people. Not everyone has the icy heart of an Internet Contrarian. I do like that podcast idea though. I assume that the actual real-time discussion would be done via email or some other text-based medium, then fed into Microsoft Voice, or some other reading program. I think that would be less work than actually audio-recording ourselves, and I can think of no better way to manifest the impersonal, inhumane quality of Internet Contrarianism than with cold, emotionless robot voices.

  21. @Dirk I sense that you like to argue. I also like to argue! And you know what? I'm sure together we can find all sorts of neat shit to disagree about! Want to go argue about things somewhere else? I stipulate "Somewhere else" because I'd hate to get in the way of all of the other nice people on this forum who just don't get how fun it is to throw back and forth lenghty manifestos in which we mercilessly tear apart everything our opponent has to say. Really, I need this. I have this funny morality thing where I'd hate to think I hurt someone's feelings, so I really need someone to argue with who I know doesn't have any. Think about it. By the way, you've got some serious balls using a username like that. You aren't nearly clever enough to deserve it, as is plainly evidenced by the fact that you didn't at least go with "Svladcjelli" instead. That would have been great.

I don't know if that's possible, and if it comes down to it I can probably get someone to loan my their PayPal, so that's just a thought, really.
