I'm still seeing it here. But the Android app is just a bunch of buttons to add the podcasts to Google Listen, and Google Listen has been taken off the Play Store. So it wouldn't surprise me if they did eventually pull it.

A rant about the disappointing quality of the catchphrase submissions that turns into the WIlly Wonka tunnel boat speech (Read in post)
Andrew replied to BesidesIllegal's topic in New Catchphrase Suggestions
At which point Scott must break down and transform, Huell Howser style, into a Scottabot-bot. -
I do too! Jeff was always so frank about the hard work behind the scenes, it was a really interesting show. I specifically remember being really fascinated by the episode where he interviewed a web-comic artist about making a living from it - where else can you hear that sort of stuff?
-
I started listening to the episode on my commute, and was thinking "Why is Scott letting this guy be such a racist, sexist, anti-Semitic asshole? Who is this guy, he's not even funny. Why did they release this episode, no-one comes out of this looking good?" Then I got back home in the middle of the episode, paused it, looked up Tony Clifton, found out he was a character, and unpaused the episode. After that point, I liked it - "This is such a great character. A searing deconstruction and mockery of racist, sexist, and anti-Semitic attitudes!" But... nothing about the character had changed, just my awareness that it was a character. It wasn't, or didn't seem to me, to be clearly or subtly mocking/parodying racism/sexism/anti-Semitism - there was nothing in the performance to clue me into the fact that it wasn't real, like with the Seth Morris radio show host or Huell Howser. Unless there was some nuance I missed, the only 'joke' is that it's a fully-realised person, but that the person isn't real. So is it OK to have (for all intents and purposes) a racist, sexist guy on the show as long as (probably) a minority of listeners understand that the meta-joke is that he's just pretending? Should comics get a free pass on bigoted jokes/ humour as long as the audience understands that they don't mean it really? I really don't know. Or maybe I'm just a comedy nerd who's over-thinking it. Also, first time I've been 'tricked' into thinking a character was real! (Bar PFT as John C. Reilly, which I don't count).

http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/ra8js/i_am_bob_odenkirk_lets_do_me/c447s2w Whoo-hoo! This sounds awesome! Also, if this is breaking some kind of pod-embargo, delete this forthwith!

Well, I guess that's #1 in the Best of 2012 show already decided...

I'm being given the choice to check out through Earwolf, or Paypal - does anyone know which gives Earwolf the most money? Paypal's more convenient, but if it gives a cent or two more to Earwolf, I'm more than happy to do the other one.

It would be undeniably cool, but I'm not sure Earwolf has the time or money (yet!) to organise and pay for a recording every week in New York and London.

My idea was for an interview-type show, based around an unchanging list of questions. In 1997, Dr. Art Aron conducted a psychological study to find out if close friendships could be artificially forced, fast-tracked (turns out they can). He developed a list of 36 questions, designed to get the interviewee to open up and share with the interviewer. The questions are open-ended and personal, e.g. "What would constitute a βperfectβ day for you?", or "Share with the interviewer an embarrassing moment in your life", or "What is your most treasured memory?" The podcast would thus be asking the guest this list of questions. The good part is that, given the background of the guests and the network, the guest can be as truthful or as comedic as they like, so the show (theoretically) needn't get stuck when a guest feels the question is too personal. It would, though, be more of a straight interview show than anything Earwolf currently has. Anyone have any other ideas?

D'aww, shucks : )

That's cool. I don't want to come off as ungrateful or impatient for something that's going to be free (and no doubt awesome too); I'm just excited to get my hands on it eventually!

Bumpity bump. Any news?

Where can I download/purchase Dot Dot by The Glass Beef?!
Andrew replied to AdvancedMan's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
You can listen to the song on their Myspace page - http://www.myspace.com/theglassbeef - but I don't know how/if you can buy or download it. -
Live, non-funny, musical guests: I'm not on board.
Andrew replied to Shepherd's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
I like the live acts. Not all of them, of course, because music is subjective, but I do like the concept. I do get what you're saying about the sudden shift - "let's stop being funny right now and listen to this serious song" - but that can be fixed as Scott gets more experience with that kind of transition (though it's not all that bad anyway). I think it might help if the guest were more involved in the rest of the show, but perhaps musical guests don't want to sit down and try to compete with professional comics at being funny. The best integration of the live acts is when they are used through all or even part of the show (e.g. Yo La Tengo, Don't Stop Or We'll Die), and not just wheeled out for the breaks. -
Nice. By the way, I would definitely pay for the app - perhaps the free one could only give access to the most recent 20 episodes, and the paid one gives full access? Just an idea.

OK, so who else got here by curiously typing in "http://wompitup.com/wompupthejam/"?

WOAH, WEE-WEE! Not cool on the Super 8 spoiler! We don't all get American release dates over here in Jolly Olde England!
