    Episode 9.2 — Time Crunch: Day 2

It's all getting a bit aggressive in here, think we need to release some of that tension

I listened to the first few minutes of 'walking the room' and I am lost... And yeah something is said about 48 minutes into it, but I just cannot understand what he's saying at the crucial line in the story.

@Linus I'm pretty sure it was said earlier in the competition that whoever wins will still be having to produce the podcasts themselves, Earwolf will just be hosting it. That's why sound quality has been such an issue in earlier rounds. - @Caroline Those are fair points, but the Pod F. Tompkast dropped a week late a couple of times, The Wolf Den had to skip a couple of weeks because of the move to the new studio. I remember hearing Jimmy Dore & PFT discussing their annoyance when people complained that their podcasts dropped late. So if the professionals don't always consistently deliver then it seems you can't be too harsh on these guys for struggling with it. - It seemed uncalled for that LHR's sketch was called 'bullshit' I wouldn't mind but it seemed hypocritical after Matt Besser's ranting about people on the internet being rude last week. I know Besser wasn't the one that said it, but he was still pretty disdainful. I know as professionals & judges they're in more of a position to be harsh but that was a bit unpleasant. - Also Scott Aukerman is someone that's made quite a few outdated Borat references over the course of CDR/CBB. It's probably because of him that I find outdated references to Borat funny.

Okay I've never disagreed with the judges more than I have in that round. It wasn't a great LHR sketch, but it was hardly terrible. - Putting aside the subjective quality, why are LHR under any kind of impetus to address the Zach Galifianakis situation? The comparison to addressing something if it's happening when you're on stage doesn't quite hold up, because it's a different format. Supposing they actually did have a guest that cancelled, they wouldn't necessarily have promoted it anywhere themselves, so an audience would be none the wiser that somebody cancelled, and they would have had longer than 30 minutes to deal with it.

    Episode 121 — Bro-ing Out

A lot of fast-talkers in this episode, it almost felt like it had been sped up, especially when you compare it to last week. It was nice to see the return of some old games.

    Episode 9.1 — Time Crunch: Day 1

@KC You do remember there was a round dedicated to Sketches right? The week in which The Fort, a podcast that does sketches got eliminated because even though their sketch was better than than some others, some leniency was shown because it's not what they do. - Having said that though, it does seem like this will be really hard on LHR, at least the other shows had time to sit down and write a sketch, maybe they'll be able to improrvise a sketch that doesn't require sound effects and production. - Well whatever happens, if Totally Laime get through, the conspirists will be mad.

  13. I don't think the fact that they didn't write all of Thune's material should matter anyway, because the point is they presented him with a premise that allowed him to excel. So in a sense they can take some of the credit for his improvisations. It's a similar thing with Superego, they've created a format that can allow their guests to come up with good material themselves. It's not really important to me, who came up with what, it's the end result that's important.
  14. I didn't agree that the sketch should have used more of the LHR cast, I think trying to force in more parts would have overcomplicated things, and I think they've had notes before about a sketch sounding too busy (although maybe that someone else's podcast. There's nothing wrong with a sketch that does just involve one person.
  15. Feels like this week the "bottom 3 format" might be a little unnecessary because I thought there was a clear top two and bottom two this round. I think it should definitely be between Bob & Dan and Totally Laime. It's a tough call, because I think Bob & Dan's clip was more entertaining, but Totally Laime showed better interview skills. But then it isn't really Bob & Dan's thing, so maybe they can be forgiven for not being so great at interviewers. Thanks to Doug & Harris for doing some preparation beforehand, it really helped them give more informed judgments.

Episode 120 — Farts and Procreation

Yes James, it was such a disappointment that they couldn't stay committed to such unique and well-defined characters as Jack and Bryan. I would have believed they were real until they came out of character.

Episode 120 — Farts and Procreation

That was either the best episode ever or the worst episode ever I'm not sure which. - Seriously though I was in hysterics throughout, but it's weird just how well it worked. These guys don't really have improv training as far as I know, and they were doing deliberately bad characters. So to do anti-comedy like that and actually do it well is really hard, but somehow they managed it brilliantly but it seems like it was just an accident. I don't know if any of them were actually stoned, but there was such a giddy, punch-drunk atmosphere in the room it somehow all came together.
  19. Well I like Wheelhouse, it's the new "What's up Hotdog?"

Caroline - I only just got it too, now that you pointed out it was a pun. - Oh and I counted Four F-Bombkins.

Episode 38 — The Return of Suit McGoo

PFT making fun of Besser's hosting style on the Earwolf Challenge provided a very cathartic laugh. Don't get me wrong, I'm really enjoying it, but it was funny to see Paul, Howard and Kulap echoing a lot of the comments people have made on the forums. - I listened to this on the way to the cinema to see Rise of the Planet of the Apes, it took a lot of will to resist saying "one for that dumb smurfs movie"
  23. I know those words but that sign makes no sense. - hopefully some of you will get that reference.

Episode 119 — Andi Callahan, RN

Andy Daly was great as ever. Really enjoyed Gillian Jacobs as well, she was fun for the straight part of the interview and worked very well as the co-host, she added a lot herself and was funny when she was challenging Scott's questions. Is it ever going to stop being funny when an Andy Daly character reveals he's going to kill himself? I can just hear them working towards it each time, it's so predictable and yet so delightful when they get there.
