This has nothing to do with Scripps - we've been planning this for months (maybe a year?) before we were ever talking to them. you can still download all the new eps and listen on androids to your hearts content! Sorry, some of that is too technical for me, still, so I apologize if i'm not getting your point about UXes.
-
It's a streaming service, so no downloads. For people who have complicated systems of downloading things and transfering them to iPods, that doesn't help, I know. For those in that situation, maybe there could be an option to pay to download premium content, like how Netflix makes shows available on blu-ray after a window, or how you can buy CBS shows the day after they air? But for all new Earwolf/Wolfpop episodes, you can still download them when they come out.

Not sure how long the free trial will remain, but most services I've found offer free trials. I think the best ofs remaining up will help out with that - Jon Hamm, Odenkirk, etc, are all on there.
-
it all has to be done manually, so i think it's starting today. if there's anything you want to have taking up space on your computer, get it now!

Most of these questions are too specific for me (I don't know what a UX is), but I think the shows on HOWL are only for streaming, like Netflix or Hulu. It's an interesting idea for people who want to "own" things to put them up for sale on iTunes, maybe? Like TV shows are? It's something to think about.

That's an interesting question - As far as new episodes of ADPP go, I'm not sure what the model would be. For the first season, I believe we paid Andy to do it, and the way we tried to minimize the financial risk was to put out one episode a few months in advance, to show advertisers the numbers, reassuring them about the listens it would get. Then we sold the ads, and put out the rest of the eps a few months later. Not the most ideal way to go about things, so it might be easier, and less risky, to go through HOWL for season two? But everything is on a case-by-case basis. I asked for Analyze Phish and UTU2TM to remain up, since there are so few episodes, dating back years. AP because it's over, and I want as many people to listen to it as possible. And UTU2TM because it's so new, and kind of a limited series. Not sure what the plans for ADPP are specifically.

You would have to use the HOWL app for older Earwolf shows, and pocketcasts for the newer ones. It's kind of like watching CBB eps on Netflix, and Seinfeld on Hulu - you'll have to go a couple places for different things, but the goal is to get EVERYTHING on Howl.
-
As far as I know (and Shannon would know more about this) - the new eps will be on HOWL, as well as Soundcloud and iTunes, and the website.
-
Yes - all the CBB best ofs will remain up. That's a HUGE amount of the info people would need, I think, for our most popular eps.
-
I'm not sure exactly if video is currently being worked on, but it's a cool idea - I can imagine, down the line, HOWL becoming available on Apple TV and the like. As far as the audio archives of NNF, I think it would be a great idea - I'm not exactly sure what the status of that would be, since they own the archives, and might have specific plans for them. But the best way to get ANYTHING you want onto HOWL is to let the creators know you want to see it there.

I don't know any of the specifics, but I'm told yes, it's being worked on. Until then - www.howl.fm

Episode 314 β Yβall Heard Any of These Names Before?
Scott Aukerman replied to JulyDiaz's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
Think about any time a straight comedian talks about having sex, going out on a date, being in love, breaking up with someone, or even mentions their husband or wife. That's part of their identity. Should gay people not be allowed to talk about any of this, just because it's different from the "norm?" Ps- James talks a lot about being gay in his act. And why shouldn't he?- 133 replies

Either video games are older than you think, or I'm younger, because I certainly grew up with them! The way we played video games, we did it for eight hours straight a day. We never watched TV that long, or watched four movies or Broadway shows in a row. That's why our time was probably better served elsewhere.

Trying to legally obtain season 2 of the TV shot
Scott Aukerman replied to MoneyKenny's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
hey guys! CBB will start airing in Canada on the Comedy Network on July 26. They're showing all thirty episodes from season one and two. Not sure in what order. And I'm not sure if that will mean that right after, they'll be available on iTunes Canada, and then on DVD? But that's good news at least! I think it has to do with trying to make deals with other countries to air it on TV before they release online or in other media. But now that Canada is taken care of, hopefully the UK won't be far behind? -

CBB (and all Earwolf?) VIDEO PODCASTS!! (this is actual news, not a suggestion!)
Scott Aukerman replied to johnnyhaggis's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
We're experimenting with this - sometimes we'll put up a show as an audio show, maybe sometimes we won't. I don't think the Sundance shows will be audio - going to see if the audience mic can be fixed - hopefully those will go back up soon. I think tonight's live-streamed show will be Monday's audio ep. -
CBB (and all Earwolf?) VIDEO PODCASTS!! (this is actual news, not a suggestion!)

Hey duderz- we took them down for a bit so we could explore pumping up the audience mic. They might go back up tomorrow or soonish? In the meantime, doing another live-stream Thursday at 9pm ET/ 6pm PST. -
It reminds me of the story Tina Fey tells about Amy Poehler in her book. When Jimmy Fallon told her not to do a crazy character she was doing, by saying it wasn't "cute." Like that's all we want our female comedians to do. I don't know...

Don't get me wrong -everyone's cool here. I feel like I can only bring it up here because everyone's nice. I get messages from a variety of sources - mostly twitter or facebook - and I've noticed it for about a year. I'll have a woman on doing a voice that is a little more crazy & out there than a Listler or Wompler, and I get a ton of messages saying how "brutal" it was, and requesting I never have them back. Meanwhile, Andy Daly can do the cowboy voice, or Horatio can do his voice this week, and everyone loves it. It made me think that there's something behind it, like a "hey, don't try so hard, little lady," kind of thing going on. But maybe it is the high pitches? I don't know. An interesting debate, though.
-
Please don't! I don't mean it as a lecture - it's just a nagging thing that's been bugging me lately and I wanted to have a discussion about it.
-
I don't mean to come off like "hey you sexist weirdos!" It's just been something that's been bothering me for a while. It may be based on the high pitch of women's voices? Which they can't control. But there also may be something deeper and societal about it.
-
I think a better question is, why, when male comics do a voice, do male listeners say "that's hilarious," and when female comics do a voice, they get called whiny and annoying? Sorry to level sexism at some of you, which I know is difficult to defend against, but this is definitely something I've noticed time after time, and I am deliberately having female guests on to combat this perception. Pam's character REALLY makes me laugh, and everything she says is gold.

- and yes, Amy Phillips is great! Wish her episodes got more love around here. That Gwenneth Paltrow is uncanny. She's really funny in the moment, too.

I doubt it... It's probably too complicated for me to figure out. Both in setting up the poll and figuring out the results. I think the current system is interesting and actually leads to what's ACUTALLY popular, not what the super fans think is the BEST... they might not have the most perspective on which episodes are truly the most beloved. I personally think it's shocking that hundreds of people who voted for Time Bobby didn't even vote for Wipeout on their top ten ballots, but they obviously have different tastes than many of you on the boards! I could always just put in the clips that I think are the best, but the voting is fun, so I like it. And I'm not surprised the Samberg/Pally episode got so many votes. It is one of our most downloaded and listened-to. I imagine a lot of people got into CBB from people sampling that. It's kind of like the first comic book you buy as a kid - it may not be the best one you'll ever buy, but it holds a special place in your heart. The one thing I agree with is that the poll is skewed to the most recent episodes... the Christmas ones never get a lot of love, because they were so long ago. But I guess that's the problem with a lot of year-end lists. Anyway, thanks for voting and having fun! We had a good year, I think. I am thankful for everyone who takes the time to listen and enjoy. -S

I'm really sensitive to spoilers, and I would say this isn't a major one. He doesn't die in the course of events covered in the main body and plot of the movie. There's an epilogue at his funeral, which is many years later. Plus, he's a public figure, who is known to be dead. But I apologize if you don't like to know anything about any part of a movie.
