Episode 31 — What Is Dead Frog?

To touch on your point regarding what the Wolf Den actually is, I believe this show has essentially become the digital age’s press release. The Wolf Den provides corporate updates, educates the consumer on topics they care about, and encourages discussion in a personalized environment; all key attributes that companies (in any sector) are hoping to grasp within their social media programs. And thank God for this….press releases are Les Miserables! The Wolf Den listener should understand that filters must exist. If they don’t, then they are probably just weirdoes. In terms of the creation and maintenance of the 'touring database,' this can effectively exist by allocating these duties to an intern or entry level personnel. The duties could include bi-daily or weekly in-depth research of the internet, such as the comedian’s website, live nation/ticket master, and the actual venue websites to ensure that the information is correct and up to date. Google alerts is also helpful. If anything, you could even have them do weekly calls to the venues to confirm that nothing has changed. A second set of quality control eyes (also an intern) would be beneficial. Does your partnership with Funny or Die include the "borrowing" of personnel?
  2. Potential Guests - An advertising sales planner/media buyer from an ad agency, senior management at Funny or Die or an account executive from the company, a producer in television (think Curtis Gwinn) to debate goods vs. bad of podcasts, someone from Apple (itunes), an agent from CAA, WME etc. (either digital or comedy), Nikki Finke so Scott can yell TOLDJA! in her face.
  3. Paul - A "Who Charted" tee-shirt could be worn under a suit. That's the key to the Katy Perry fanclub's heart....OR Jeff could make a "Who Charted" patch to put on the back of your suits ala 1960's NYC Warriors. Either way, your excuses are flimsy.
  4. Wow, one my favorite Wolf Dens so far. Baratunde sounds incredibly intelligent. This theme of being yourself ultimately transcends to all facets of life. Good stuff. Jeff, I think I have your tag line for your EarWolf CEO personalized tee-shirt. “Earwolf is in the business of producing content…and trying not to go broke in doing it.”
  5. Just an FYI. Baratunde's website link does not open in another window. So if you go to the website while listening to the podcast, you'll have to start the podcast over unless u right click and specify to "open in new tab or window."
  6. Ben, your new book is insanely funny. Like Kulap, I finished it in two days. I would honestly recommend that everyone BUY it. In addition, I will be using all your 'free ideas' from the book and moving to LA to begin my screenplay. I can sleep on your couch, right? Awesome show guys. Kulap, I am personally requesting more chart exclusives. You need to 'Marc Maron' this info out of your guests.

Episode 28 — Did You Miss Me?

According to Oxford English Dictionary, nerd is "1. a foolish or contemptible person who lacks social skills or is boringly studious. 2. a single-minded expert in a particular technical field." In my opinion, referring to oneself as a comedy nerd is not particularly endearing. I think the comedy community could be a bit more imaginative in that respect. I would like to call for a re-branding/re categorization of the comedy base that veers away from this negative connotation of nerd. Aside from my rant, I am glad your back Jeff. Awesome episode as usual.
  8. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/smurfs-sequel-set-aug-2013-220908 Let's lobby to get Paul and Paul in the Smurfquel! Now if you'd excuse me, I'm going to go shoot myself in the foot.
  9. I am fairly certain that Sandy Bullock bought an exorbitant amount of hotdogs from Papaya Dog at 3 am and ate them in the dark while crying and watching the bloopers of this movie on repeat.
  10. Is there anyway that Engineer Frank can rework the audio to have the British accents sound more Belizean Creole?
  11. Don't get discourage. You are putting out an exceptional product. I am glad you went above and beyond to release this week's Wolf Den. This show ranks in my top three out of all the current podcasts available. I am wondering why you have not decided to partner with advertisers. It would be a no-brainer for FX to put in a quick ad before or during a show that features Nick Kroll or that tiny talent agent from Shutterbug Inc. Maron appears to have seamlessly integrated it into his show. I personally believe that subscription/donation based model is not long term or sustainable. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Good luck and keep your head up!
  12. Today's conclusion sounds eerily similar to the alternate 'Growing Pains' series finale that Kirk Cameron pitches to me on a bi-daily basis.
  13. Another great one. I was quite impressed with all of the guest's public speaking chops. Very articulate. I am interested in this discussion of podcasts vs. TV/Film. One of the guests mentioned that people will soon be going home to listen to podcasts instead of watching TV/Film. I'm my opinion, I do not foresee this as taking place on a large scale. The visual appeal of TV/Film will always trump that of audio, especially with the emergence of new technologies. The podcast market will continue to grow at an accelerated rate, but as I've mentioned before, I believe there will need to be some type of video integration in order for podcast networks/websites like these to become truly mainstream. Also, Jeff, talk to Pfizer about Bob Ducca. I see some real branding opportunities there.
  14. I enjoyed the segment regarding the preparation process. How about making a monthly web episode that goes behind the scenes of the various Earwolf shows, highlighting the dynamic and relationships between the hosts and guests? It would be cool to see the general tomfoolery (punch me for saying that word) that inevitably goes on. Also, checking analytics is more addicting than Gushers Fruit Snacks.

Crank 3 - Catch Me if You Can Statham and newcomer Martin Lawrence must sit in a Starbucks and come up with catchphrases for a 'hit' new law show on TNT, or be forced to look at themselves in the mirror.
