Episode 1 β€” Cat Ranch Chaos

That was amusing. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. At risk of alienating KajusX I just can't get in to The Long Shot and this was a good reminder as to why. Sean Conroy is a genius but ... just meh for the ensemble. That being said I am so happy for Earwolf that they are getting some of this sweet, sweet IFC money to fund their podcasts! The synergy that they've created is so impressive, I really applaud Jeff Ulrich for what he has done on the business side of things. This little podcasts is perfect "product placement" kind of work, fun on its own but clearly designed to move a product. Good stuff.
  2. I expected a lot worse with this Case Closed, having read the commentary here about it before listening. Sure, Matt talked over the guest a couple of times, especially when Matt's point was being ignored. Matt certainly believes more strongly in his point of view than the guest did for his own, common for Case Closed. However those are the only real "complaints" I'd have about the segment, I thought it was amusing but most importantly engrossing. I like getting to know Matt better. I like that he's trying to get a little serious every once in a while on his podcast. I thought it was great that he made this debate a one-on-one rather than a group effort. Is it Matt's fault nobody substantial will appear on the show? I don't think it's because Matt isn't trying. It's a shame that every time there is a Case Closed there's a lot of complaining in the forum, and then I and others feel obligated to hop in and support the segment. I'd rather have devoted my precious comment to defining what a "petard" is. Spoiler: It's an old-timey French bomb. When you were "hoisted by your own petard" it was because the bomb blew up and threw you in the air.

    Episode 103 β€” Photography

Great episode. I'm a pretty serious hobby photographer and I liked the part of the episode devoted to the topic at hand. Surprisingly everyone was pretty sympathetic and understanding of the artistry and skill involved in getting amazing images. Agee trying to describe to David how he'd pick out one great photo from those spread in front of him was particularly interesting. I don't normally link to my stuff, but since it's relevant. http://flickr.com/pdxsean

People Still Post Things In Here.

I'm still holding out for another Entourage recap, so why can't others hold out for the return of Jukebox Jury? We can all dream.
  5. Kristen's mom threw out a nice shout out to Scott with her paraphrased "Maybe it's just me, but for me..." bit in the voicemail.

    Episode 215 β€” Time Bobby 2

    I miss plane breaks.
  8. If it helps get Jeff off your back, I listened to this before the surprise episode of CBB released today. I really liked that first part where you did the improv4humans sketch. Very meta.
  9. I really admire Matt's goal of making i4h the best podcast out there. In my opinion, he's come very very close... and perhaps it is only my loyalty to CBB that keeps me from agreeing that i4h is #1. I laugh out loud far more to i4h than I do any other podcast, and it really pushes the boundaries on a weekly basis. At first I thought Matt was crazy with his ambition, but he seems to be sticking by his guns. If he wants i4h to be #1, obviously he'll have to win over us, his already existing fans... so is he going in the right direction? Is he there?

Episode 205 β€” Titans of Comedy

I love how Scott started the episode by asking everyone what it was like to be a comedian. Then like ten minutes later, they've moved on, someone mentioned Toronto, and suddenly Scott is all dismissive, "Moved to Toronto? Say no more, we get it, you're a comedian now." Just something about that was the funniest moment in a really hilarious episode. Also really enjoyed the throw-away "That's an even-more classic Would You Rather blunder."
  11. I think I finally understand why Bob Ducca hasn't been back on the show for so long.
  12. I am surprised I read through all those comments and nobody mentioned the awesome and hilarious plugs theme. Among the best plugs themes ever. So good. And of all of the divisive elements in today's podcast, people are latching on the Todd character? We have a man raping another man in front of a racist teenaged boy being spanked bare-assed by his uncle... and people decide that the inauthentic nature of said teenaged boy is the tipping point? Some crazy ways people decide what to like here is all I'm saying. I thought Adomian's Hoffman was pretty good, I loved the Boogie Night influence (and maybe some Happiness?) but I do agree it was pretty Master-heavy there at the end. Also I thought Todd was hilarious. "I'll have the biggest penis ever!"

    Please stop with case closed

I've just gotten used to the segment finally being called "Case Closed" and now there are those calling for abolition? It does sort of take away from the zaniness of the show, and sometimes it can be uncomfortable to listen to. However I think it does a great job of helping us get to know Matt and the guests better, and it serves as a unique forum for viewer interaction. The whole idea is to call people out on their random complaining. The nature of the internet is to be able to complain anonymously without repercussion. I seem to recall Matt explaining that he thought that was nonsense and created Case Closed specifically to hold critics accountable. While not necessarily the funniest parts of the show, they're a fascinating mix of comedy and debate tactics. It's true that Matt is a formidable opponent and the tables are unbalanced, but it's not like Matt goes around finding people to pick on so they'll call him up. These people hop in and complain, and when offered they agree to defend themselves on the podcast. Imagine how boring it would be for i4h to invite me or Hot Slunch or other Case Closed fans on and we all just agreed. Or maybe we could spice it up, and I'd backpedal and start complaining about how it's not "Commenter's Corner" anymore and how the idea of the Pope being the Grand Wizard is really offensive and suddenly i4h isn't even in the running for greatest podcast ever. I guess that would still be kind of fun.

    Episode 201 β€” End Scene

Loved hearing "Spoiler Alert" attached to something that hasn't yet been seen. I need to remember to use that. Great episode. I guess there is one down side to the Pope retiring, and that is Matt won't have as many excuses to bring out his character. First Huell Howser, now the Pope... seems like all of the CBB characters are on their way out. Look out behind you, real life Ice-T and Carl S'Junior!

    Episode 199 β€” Garry Unmarried

Garry Marshall sure has a lot going on. He revealed a lot of new info this episode. I can't wait to find out more about the illuminatti and monster baiting. I was really hoping Gillian's cash flow requirements would bottom out somewhere in the $45K annual range, I should have listened all the way through before preparing my presentation.
  17. Scott's appearance on the 1/25 DLM was really funny, and I was happy to hear Entourage Woody Allen appear. Good stuff, it's about 33 min in.
  18. I just finished listening to the Computer Strength sketch, and I was thinking that this is already looking to be one of the best I4H episodes ever... the amazing calendar ad, Computer Strength... and now a Case Closed that is so potentially contentious that the computer lady warns us not to listen? Woo wee. Listen up, Comedy Bang Bang, Improv4Humans is looking at that #1 spot...

    Episode 89 β€” Freedom

I agree, Boring Texts is like the New No-No's of PB. Inexplicably hilarious. TRY HARDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :( ;< ;< ;< |:->{P Tig's passing comment that Swamp Rock and Jazz Note are the same guy really got me thinking, since I love one and dislike the other. I guess Jazz Note is so effective because he has a very specific limited use.
  20. I thought Curb Your Laboratory was great. Also glad to hear Huell discovered Oregon, we are bigger gold up here.
  21. I was worried tonight's new no-no's would be lost forever. Glad to see Scott suggesting we'll probably get to hear them on Monday. I'm really not used to the problem of trying to figure out how to enjoy all the CBB available to me...
  22. Always glad to see another Case Closed, and good for the caller to make an appearance. I think Matt was pretty restrained in not going on about the hypocrisy in being a fan of Tebow and Kobe. Lauren's straightfaced repetition of her previous ridiculous question was the best. "I think that's what everyone wants to know." So good.

    Episode 86 β€” Conspiracies

I remember, especially in the early episodes, there was a contingent who liked to complain that Tig, Dave, and Kyle would talk over their guests. Like some guest would be trying to say something profound, and then Kyle would bust out an irrelevant "swamp rock!" just for a laugh. I feel like this episode is like a bizarro version of those episodes. So many times Kyle would try to break in with something hilarious, or Tig would try to mutter something hilarious, and Janeane would talk blindly over them with her commentary. I'd be frustrated, "But Janeane, they are funny! Let them digress from the subject matter!"

    Episode 192 β€” GoodFelines

This episode was so funny. I didn't really expect it, but the guests were great at being silly. I loved how Horatio wasn't afraid to keep adding ridiculous unnecessary details to his stories. I'm trying to imagine the notes Scott must have been taking to try to keep the reality going.
