    Episode 9.3 — Time Crunch: Day 3

@brian LOL You're free to come to any conclusion. It's the internet. It's a free forum. I must say though- Anyone that has the presence of mind to refer to their own outlandish idea as a 'conspiracy'- would know the definition of the word and it's implications on the dialogue to follow, rendering the thoughts valid. I think the guys you're talking about are called insane people. They sometimes live on the streets and tell people about the chips the government planted in them? Ya... I don't think anyone is calling those guys "conspiracy theorists". Remember- a good conspiracy can't be proven right? I mean that's it. Are you comparing the notion of possible bias by the judges and orchestrators (which has been more or less proven with Harris Whittles) as roughly the same level of INSANE as the government replacing frontal lobes with tuna?

@Brian I just said this was a bumble and not a conspiracy! can you READ MAN? Jeff said conspiracy- I even just said that I'm not so sure about judge 'bias' anymore, and this whole problem might just be confusions part... the judges, the contestants, Matt, everyone just seemed confused. . But hey dude, you're a boyscout right? Who else should get the boot from here guy? (fascism does not become you Brian)

@Adam Glad that you see the general consensus here is that this weeks challenge was bullshit and you guys got the shaft. Very big of you to try and curb the disappointment here. . The fact is tho, this weeks challenge wasn't administered in a fair, or even coherent way. We have rules contradicting each other, and the judges to whom this all falls on- well, they don't know the criteria for how to vote. . I mentioned bias towards totally Laime a few weeks ago and Jeff Ullrich immediately crawled out and tried to spin me as a George Noory lizard people conspiracy theorist. Now a bunch of people are beginning to pull the wool off their eyes, but now I'm beginning to wonder how much is bias, and how much is simply bumbling... . Consider this... Matt prolly met these judges in the parking lot before the show and smoked a huge bong load of spliff or something with them... (Matt's sounded a little strung-out and confused about rules for this entire season lol) They were prolly in the car laughing about all sorts of dumb shit and we're like... "holy shit guys... the shows about to start... we gotta get in there". . So like the professionals they are, they went into work and listened to the submissions. Matt probably forgot to tell them any of the guidelines and just told them to 'wing it'... then he stonily rolled with the punches that the judges were throwing out. . But whatever. Who gives a shit anymore right? I'll still listen to podcasts and still follow Besser and a lot of the other judges projects. lol. Next time I hear the phrase 'earwolf challenge' -I'm sure the first thing that comes to my mind will be - 'HA, what a fucking joke THAT was'. It's been more entertaining reading the forums this week than the shows themselves... I've really been entertained by a lot of this- thanks everyone! . Interesting that it seems like a lot of TL defenders came out of the woodwork on the forums today but were strangely silent yesterday when everyone was up-in-arms (except Chester who keeps saying the exact same thing in every post lololol). . Good concept guys. a reality show podcast.

@ D C - butthurt- that's right. I clearly said it's hard to care about any of this at this point. Listen to 'walking the room' it's shit. It deserves less than 5-star reviews. Beta move for a beta podcast. . @russel - interesting idea about pitching LHR to another network- pull a letterman ehh? Carolla HAS been branching out a lot lately- this might be something Ace Broadcasting would seriously consider... Hell... They're pulling an MST3k with 'basic cable commentary'... LHR might not be so far out of their 'wheelhouse'... Very interesting thought. . Podcast networks are getting corporate fast

@Matt Besser . Yo Matt- Dirk here. The guy with the ET/MJ picture. . "Based on this week's challenge the judges were to vote out the podcast that created the least funny submission in the opinion of the judges." . I HEARD you laugh at both LHR, and LDDC. I didn't hear ANY laughter at TL. Remember man... you guys are on mic during the submissions... . Are you trying to throw the judges under the bus here? lol. . oh man. what a fiasco. I wish these were closer to live... how old are these recordings anyway? a week? two weeks? . @Mark Thompson - thankyou. You took the time to crystallize what I was too lazy to say... I think I burned all my outrage up a few weeks ago... It's getting hard to care. Props. You're right on the money with your analysis. . @foamcorner - I agree. I thought the borat thing was really pretty funny. I've never seen borat but I know that it was in the zeitgeist for a while and I've seen interviews with the guy and 'get it'. I don't think they were going for meta or post modern or any of that shit (they know better than that at this stage) ... it just seemed like a pretty fucking funny sketch. . @Jason Green "Anyway it seems to me like one of the guys from LHR was doing a fairly decent Zach Galifinakis impression" Can anyone confirm or deny this? I personally hate this galifinakis character and will never watch a movie with him or listen to a podcast with him... he just rubs me the wrong way or something... If LHR really were working on that level they should get a few points for that. . I will agree with Matt tho when he said (I think it was him that mentioned) that LHR could have done a Zach robot. does he have any catchphrase or anything? I dunno... it prolly wouldn't have worked with zach now that I think about it... . I hope LHR REALLY fucking cusses the judges out tomarrow... that will make it worth the listen. . Don't forget people to rate and review podcasts that you like and don't like on itunes. not enough people do... hence all the millions of 5-star ratings... only fans review. let's change that.

    Episode 9.2 — Time Crunch: Day 2

@ Max . "Also, based on the rumors in the comments, I tried to listen to Walking the Room to find out who got cut. Literally couldn't get through it. A bunch of guys I've never heard of saying 'fuck' a lot and complaining about the zoo? Riveting stuff! " . I went ahead and did the same. Fucking nonsense. I tried to listen to the thing but after about 20 minutes I just fast-forwarded to the earwolf discussion. I can't make out exactly what he said, but it's to the effect of, they voted off one of the teams (they haven't revealed which) that wasn't totally laime- then they told them why and gave them criticism. Then... according to the story on Walking the Room, the losing podcast REJECTED the criticism, and told them they were full of shit. Then after they had already voted them off the losers name-dropped someone (possibly Paul F Thompins- they were mumbling a lot and talking over each other.... It REALLY is a very poorly done podcast... bad audio quality too... I could hear a hissssssssss sound the whole time.) who made the judge totally regret the decision and now he vows to promote the show he voted against. Not much integrity with these Walking the Room guys. This will be funny to hear tomorrow tho... . I'm about to head over to iTunes and trash Walking the Room in a review... They're not the only ones capable of trashing a podcast. 1 star baby! . Reading thru this, with the exception of Chester (likely a virgin if he thought TL was 'compelling'), everyone seems to agree that this week had the worst judging yet- and it's not even judgment day! . Whether or not this weeks challenge was poorly conceived on Scott's part, or poorly executed on Matt's part, there are some legit concerns brought up. . @robstraws said it best with - . "On yesterdays show Besser mentioned that LHR deserved to have a kind of handicap because of their format but on today's show that seemed to be thrown out the window." . I guess he just completely forgot he'd said that? The guest judges 'probably' should have been privy to that tid-bit of info before they threw LHR under the bus. . @ Brendan H . "Ok, I didn't really agree with the judges this week. Totally Laime was the least funny for me. I don't care that it was an "honest conversation" like the judges said, I just didn't like the conversation. It's one of those conversations that people always seem to have that's really only interesting if you know the people involved. It always comes off as shallow to me, maybe even a little self-important." . 'Shallow' is putting it nicely. If I wanted to hear a discussion about guy's dicks and tramp stamps I I'd go hang out with some strippers and at least get some eye-candy. This inane chatter is simply grueling. I imagine hell as being made to listen to totally laime radio non-stop. There are a lot of podcasts that suffer from this same problem that you mention about 'only interesting if you know the people involved'- sure, you'll download ONE episode and listen to it 'for the guest' -but that does not a good podcast make. . Can we consider making the Judges the same for the entire season with Earwolf Challenge 2? I don't think any of the reality shows have new judges each week do they? It would help keep things straight with who's who and who does what. This could lead to more advanced critiques where a judge might compare and contrast specific entries from weeks 2 and weeks 8 for example. I realize the main problem with permanent judges would likely be time-constraints and finding people who had 10 weeks to do this for little or no pay... maybe something can be figured out tho... . And maybe next time around you could do the challenge 'Best Game'. Lot's of podcasts have games- Aukerman has a bunch on CBB, Bensons got a couple that people really enjoy, Snydecast does them sometimes... I'm sure I've heard other podcasts do games before. . As long as you gave them a couple weeks prep time to come up with something I think a 'Game' challenge could be a real boon. . Well, I'm dreading tomorrow but I'm going to subscribe to both Left Handed and Little Dum Dum Club right now, so whichever one gets the ax, I'll still be listening.

    Episode 9.2 — Time Crunch: Day 2

@Caroline Anderson -- "...or else Scott Aukerman himself wouldn't have had the idea." -- Scott Aukerman 'Himself'? lol You mean the wise and powerful Scott Aukerman? The REAL HIM? IN THE FLESH? HIMSELF? -- I thought he was just a legend but you say he came up with this... HIMSELF? As we all know Scott Aukerman is completely infallible.... and he didn't have any help with this idea at all! that's the most amazing part... he came up with this... HIMSELF! -- Ok, enough of that. -- I was tickled that Matt enjoyed my 'rant' a few weeks ago, but lets not throw around the word 'conspiracy' so much ehh? The only one who mentioned 'conspiracy' was mr. Ullrich. -- The shows have been getting more exiting. Bob and Dan surely had it coming, and Doug's analysis was SPOT ON. He was BRUTAL, but completely honest with those guys. Why would they ask such a gibberish corn-ball question as "Do you still have to audition for rolls?" BAD. -- This weeks judges... well... -- ... they suck and I'll prolly never have to hear these clowns again after this week. I never listen to NNF unless I like the guest. Of course the fact that I have no respect for the judges this week and consider them to be no-talent hacks dovetails perfectly with my opposite views of the podcasts. -- LHR sketch was pretty funny. Considering it was supposed to have been put together in less than 30 minutes... I laughed. -- Little Dum Dums - These guys are always great. No change this time. Yea, they frittered out a little during the middle of the clip, but it wasn't a train wreck -- Totally Laime - Didn't laugh. Didn't smile. I won't go as far as to say this was 'painful' to hear, but It was close. -- Totally Laime just seem sophomoric to put it nicely. They always immediately grab onto the most shallow thing and explore. Sex, Sex, Sex. They both must have sex on the brain... this is fine, but juvenile, and hardly entertaining. Every week it's like they explore such interesting topics as tramp stamps, and losing virginity. YAWN. If two of my friends decided to have this same conversation and giggle to themselves while recounting their pathetic 'first times' I'd quickly excuse myself from the room. boring stuff. -- Funny that the judges seemed to love them even tho they were clearly the weakest link and least deserving of praise. -- @Gym Sockerman Really? They stepped on the judgment? Walking the Room gave it away? I'm tempted to give it a listen but... meh... i'll wait. -- Good luck LHR! You'll need it. The deck is stacked against you!

  21. where is all this negative criticism I'm hearing about? Twitter? I haven't really seen any of that hear. The ones that really layed into Matt & the show were Howie and Paul on the last Who Charted... Was this one recorded outside in the rain? It sounds like rain.
  22. @Brodie lol wtf I dunno what's up with that.... Dogs are cool dude. hey Matt! I thought you said who charted shirt is out now...? Not seeing it in store....
  23. Didn't Matt say yesterday (2 weeks ago?) they weren't going to do the 15 second opening setup this time? yes. The top 2 and bottom three are obvious.
