  1. If I ever need a new username anywhere, I hope "Sexual Costco" isn't already taken.
  2. I've noticed subtitles in reality shows where the person isn't properly miked, but if it's a talking head, yeah, that's kind of weird. Just turn the closed captioning on if you really need help.

    Episode 268 β€” Blue-eyed Soul

The Everly Brothers had an album called Blue-Eyed Soul in the early 60s. It was an industry term to help white folks buy and sell "soul music" during segregation.

Episode 263 β€” Kids' TV Shows

Dora and Kai-lan are pretty basic Nick Jr. kids' shows with a little bit of language / culture thrown in. My kids are learning Spanish words from Dora, and some of the books describe some Mexican foods or holiday traditions in a pretty "simplified for pre-schoolers" way. The one thing I noticed - which I'm sure was a decision made in some Nickelodeon board room - is that Dora herself has WAY lighter skin than anyone in her family (who are rarely featured). Now, I guess it could have been that they had Dora first and later someone said "she needs a family - let's make them actually look Mexican for once," but it's definitely a thing.

    Episode 261 β€” Kountry Lane

"Look, we know you folks aren't really ready for actual hip hop, so we'll just play a couple of Drake songs and then follow that up with Lady Gaga."
  6. I subscribed to Go Bayside after April guested on Whooch. Started with Howard Kremer's episodes and have been rolling along since then. It's amazing how much Saved by the Bell I remember considering I always hated it. Also, thank you for so much PFT off-mic pre-intro laughter!

    Episode 261 β€” Kountry Lane

Small-town Wisconsin! It's where - young people don't think racism exists because they've never been anywhere that people of other races exist - there's only one black kid and he's so good at sports that people go "we aren't racist; we LOVE our star running back!" - Baby boomers still talk about the "race riots" as if Milwaukee has been a non-stop war zone for the last 40 years - plenty of folks who don't have any hate in their heart still treat anyone non-white/non-Christian/non-straight as alien Or did I just describe everywhere? I've only ever lived in Wisconsin myself so I'm sure my own point of view isn't terribly enlightened or deep.

    Episode 250 β€” Podcast Silence

I liked everything about this episode.
  9. Oh. Well then of course. He basically had no choice.

    Episode 150 β€” Warrior Pose

I'd say anything off Pornography. That is a creepy-ass album.
  11. I think the word is "expatriate," not "ex-Patriot." Drew Bledsoe is an ex-Patriot.

    Episode 149 β€” Oprah Voices

Exhibit A on why Howard should always freestyle: "Christine's here / She plays Jessica / Kulap's here / She's got a big chestica / Look at that Underground Pool Network / Wow / I shouldn't freestyle / TUNES"

    Episode 247 β€” Half A Score

    BEEF BEGINNING
  14. So schools are too chaotic to enforce rules. Got it. I mean, hell, my school was pretty laid back, but even we were banned from wearing "Bart Simpson: Underachiever and Proud of it, Man" shirts.
  15. I can agree with the passive aggressive targeting, but can we also all agree that a middle school or high school should be enforcing the most minimal of dress code such that no one's butt is visible? Do our schools have so many problems that no one can even be bothered to tell kids that clothes need to cover their butt?
  16. I love when Tim says "Where's Tina Weymouth?" and there's a moment where I just picture him thinking "Someone had better 'yes and' my ability to name Tina Weymouth off the top of my head."
  17. It would be pretty awesome if Questlove took a year to roam the country and help motivate talented musicians.
  18. I thought their reaction to that guy was basically "if it's meant to be a joke I don't find the humor." So I'm not sure how they "fell for" it.
  19. I love how long Paul Rust tries to get them to say anything during the Tom Petty's Beard sketch.

Episode 146 β€” Keep It Clean

As soon as I heard that Insidious was getting a sequel, I thought "this means we get to hear Kulap pronounce it like 'deciduous' a bunch more."
  21. "TRACK THAT SHIT" is my spirit animal.

    Episode 145.5 β€” TWO CHARTED 84

If you're flying in instead of driving cross-country, plenty of the Midwest cities are actually packed pretty close together: Chicago to Milwaukee to Madison to Twin Cities to Des Moines to St. Louis to Louisville to Indianapolis to Cincinnati to Columbus to Cleveland to Detroit.

    Episode 188 β€” Floating!

Andy: good call on the closing tag music.
