    EPISODE 389 β€” Travel Agent-Si!

Twice with the 'giant Miyazaki baby' reference. The original phrase is "Giant Miyazaki baby that lives in the Cloud Castle." Now, I JUST re-watched Spirited Away last night and had forgotten that there was a huge baby in it. I haven't seen all of Miyazaki's filmography, and castles definitely play a part in more than one of them; Howl's Moving Castle, Castle in the Sky, etc. Surely, the cloud castle Scott mentioned is the latter of those two Castle titles. Is the 'Giant Miyazaki Baby' the Spirited Away baby, or is there another huge baby in a Miyazaki film? Inquiring minds wanna knowwwwww!
  2. Oh my, I love this episode! Skee-Lo's 'I Wish' was the first cd I ever owned.

EPISODE 386 β€” Titbit for Tatbit

I can hear him now: "Really? Are you happy with that?"
  4. Haha oh man, that was me too. Black Friday, I drove up north while listening to the Betsy Sodaro episode, saw Interstellar with my sister and her husband, joined them for Thanksgiving leftovers, and then on the drive home back to LA I re-listened to Public Domain and was cry-laughing in my car. Thankfully traffic was light-ish.

EPISODE 385 β€” The Beatles of Cults

So guys, we're going to watch The Comeback Kid as the 10:00pm-type awesome comedy special before we get to the 11:00pm-type edgy comedy sketch show, right? Mulaney first! W/ Bob & David right after! Don't die from excitement!!! I just might!

EPISODE 384 β€” Numbers Cannot Lie

PFT likes the name June, and while I don't like rigid canonization necessarily, I am SO curious if PFT considers Mike's and Atherton's June to be the same June that left her first husband Russell Shein from the ADPPP Dalton Wilcox ep. EDIT!!! Russell's wife's name is JOAN. I completely got that wrong.

    EPISODE 274.5 β€” SKLARBRO COUNTY 179

I'm glad you guys are already pointing out how the Aunt/Nephew thing turned out. When that story hit and everyone was piling on with the internet shaming (which I'm always wary of anyways), I didn't really feel one way or the other as I read about it on whatever site I was reading it on. I only felt that I didn't have all the facts. Then someone in the comments on that article mentioned the homeowner insurance angle and how this stuff happens a lot when dealing with the shitty, shitty insurance companies, and that this is probably what was going on, and sure enough it was, which I was relieved to discover once that was confirmed. Liking your posts for some messageboard karma!
  8. I've heard of keeping up with the Kardashians but killing the Kardashians??? That's the show.
  9. When stuff like this happensβ€” either I'm listening to unrelated podcasts in succession and they cover the same subject matter, make the same pop culture reference, etc, or a show is recorded in advance but upon it's release has absolutely nailed a present subject that the people at the time had no idea would be in the current zeitgeistβ€” I like to call it... PODKISMET. *thunder cracks*

EPISODE 382 β€” Doing It The Savage Way

Minor quibble with the source of where that etymology definition was copy/pasted from- silvaticus is just the male form of 'of the woods,' with silvatica being the female. Silvatica/silvaticus just means, 'of the woods.' It's a descriptor, not a noun. We're not savvy to the norms of city life. We're of the woods. My first name (Karl) generally means 'man,' and can be broken down even further to 'ceorl' which is the lowest ranked 'free' person before slave, so put together as a whole I'm 'Free Man of the Woods,' and not 'Free Man Man of the Woods.'

    Character Drawings

Hi cguntrip, I can't recall exactly how you're uploading your art that results in thumbnails on the page, but if you want your pics to show up bigger like Gustaf's, I would recommend uploading your images to an imgur account (or flickr, or whatever) and then pasting in the URL when you click on the photo icon for posting.

EPISODE 382 β€” Doing It The Savage Way

Yay! Fred Savage has my last name, and growing up, my parents would occasionally mess with me and claim we were related; bunch jerks. Looking forward to this. Savage has directed so much good comedy tv.

    EPISODE 381 β€” Kitchen Stand-Up

Even if you don't enjoy Jeselnik's stand-up/Comedy Central appearances, I personally think Anthony always delivers on his podcast appearances. He was great on his episode of CBB Live from Bumbershoot back in 2011 accompanied with PFT as Mr. Brainwash and Andy Daly as August Lindt.

    Ask Paul!

What was the source of the scary sound in today's episode? Was that Eban bending a piano to his will?! I was glad you said something about it in the show because it even freaked me out!
  16. What was the source of that super-scary noise?! Was that a piano trick by Eban??

Featuring not one, but TWO shots of Scott!
  18. Betsy Brandt is the Besty Brandt!
  19. I loved the beat where she took her retainer out to show it was the cause of impediment.

EPISODE 379 β€” Realies and Fictionals

"Can we smoke in here?" Maybe it's just me but for me? This is the best question ever asked on Comedy Bang Bang. EDIT: OH! Wait. hold up. "How do you dress your 'dog, poppy?" is the best question ever asked on Comedy Bang Bang.
  21. I would like to offer up an alternate theory and say that's Eban's keyboard case.

EPISODE 379 β€” Realies and Fictionals

I was actually going to mention The Critic, because I absolutely recalled his Rosebud Peas commercials (and the fact that the same voice actor did Brain, etc). Maybe I misidentified my decade. Critic and Animaniacs were around right at the same time: mid '90s. Born in '81, so am I an '80s or '90s kid? Are you a decade kid of the decade you were born in?! Or can you claim to be a decade kid for any decade in which you were not an adult???

EPISODE 379 β€” Realies and Fictionals

Btw, when Gino mentions that's all he's been up to since the last time he saw Scott six weeks ago, he's referring to the Howl Exclusive CBB LIVE recorded at Outside Lands Festival on August 9th. I know this because I recently decided to give the Howl app a spin and just listened to this episode. Getting some back-to-back Gino here on my end of things. Doing the math, if this ep is six weeks after August 9th, that means it was recorded around September 20th. The more you know, etc.

EPISODE 379 β€” Realies and Fictionals

SCOTT: What have you been up to Gino? GINO: Oh me? A lot of things. Um, I saw, have you ever seen the film, uhhh- SCOTT: Citizen Kane. That's the type of film- GINO: That's the one I-- Yes! Yes yes! Have you seen that? 'Cuz I was gonna say-- SCOTT: Yes, I have seen that, several times. A classic film in my opinion. GINO: It's the one with the guy from the Animaniacs cartoons. SCOTT: Yes. (chuckles) GINO: I love that movie. I didn't know they did a spin-off into a black and white film. It was pretty good. Oh man, I'm a '90s kid, and my introduction to Orson Welles was Animaniacs (Jerry Lewis too). As I grew older I realized, "Oh, these guys are who those characters in Animaniacs were!" haha Also, this was GOLD: SCOTT: How good are you at Jeopardy, by the way? GINO: Fucking great at Jeopardy. I know every answer. SCOTT: Every single one, really? GINO: Ask me a question right now and I'll know the answer. SCOTT: Ok. Uhhhhhhhhhttttthis singer--- GINO: Prince. Ok, let's get back to the interview. SCOTT: 'WHO IS Prince!' GINO: He's like the little biracial dude with the purple shirt on and shit. SCOTT: Alright, nevermind, nevermind. GINO: Raspberry beret.
  25. Considering that Paul's opening monologue started with talk of the theatre, he basically served it up on a platter for the improv portion.
