  1. God cried a tear. That tear became an ocean. That ocean birthed life. That life trapped microscopic objects that, over time, coalesced and formed a magnificent goddamn pearl of a movie. And the angels named it "Streets of Fire."

That is how this got made.

So glad to see Streets of Fire reviewed, and so glad to see one of my favorite Earwolf talents Womping up the Jams with the regular gang.

I still think June should live Tweet a review or something. This film begs for her analysis.

  2. Hopefully I have gained some HDTGM capital in suggesting Streets of Fire, which is good because the movie I am about to suggest is, in my mind, perfect HDTGM fodder.

Do you guys like Watchmen? Good. Now imagine if Watchmen was written and filmed in 1983 as a musical. From the songwriter of the Rocky Horror Picture show.

You want star power? We're talking Alan Arkin. We're talking Christopher Lee.

We're talking The Return of Captain Invincible.

As well it should be. It's like one of those old Star Trek episodes where the crew would land on a planet entirely inspired by a historical period on Earth but re-interpreted by aliens - this story takes place on the Greaser Planet.

Yeah, it's kinda like Gotham from Batman: TAS. Everybody owns a classic car and dresses like Broadway threw up.

  4. “Custom cars, kissing in the rain, neon, trains in the night, high-speed pursuit, rumbles, rock stars, motorcycles, jokes in tough situations, leather jackets and questions of honor"

(tagline from STREETS OF FIRE. Why haven't those How Did This Get Made Schmucks reviewed that gem yet?)

  5. My favorite Rodimus moment in Season 3:

The Autobots learned of a lost Cybertronian colony known as Paradron after one of its citizens, Sandstorm, arrived on Cybertron begging for help. It seemed that Galvatron and the Decepticons had seized control over the planet and its vast energon reserves. Rodimus Prime and the Autobots staged a tactical infiltration, but the escalation of violence between the two forces led to total devastation. Rodimus gave the pacifistic Autobots of Paradron his impassioned "Move it or lose it!" speech before hustling them off-world so that Ultra Magnus could blow up their home. As Sandstorm sat there mourning the loss of his world, Rodimus Prime gave him some solemn advice.

“ Well, no need to get all mushy. Cybertron's a better place anyway—not so...perfect. ”
