  1. I love Bob Ducca but he is just a direct rip off of this (@ 55 seconds)

    Episode 82 — Kotter Talk

So last episode ended with them entering the color room, this episode ended with them entering the color room.....

    Episode 297 — Canadian Apparel

Adomian is a god, he can riff on anything. The "rope, hair, plausible? That is a great beginning to an alibi" line was gold for instance and that was not the easiest set up. I think people who don't like him are just more likely to mouth off about their delicate sensibilities. Heaven forbid Brett Gelman ever get booked again.....

    A Gnome Named Gnorm (1990)

Wow so I went to IMDB with the intention of searching for the writers' and director's names with the words "cocaine arrest" - but it turns out that the two writers are: Pen Denshan - who wrote this admittedly awesome looking book on screen plays about how you should just be creative and has a bunch of essays from guys like Nia Vardalos, Shane Black and Danny McBride, with 88 reviews in Amazon averaging 5 stars http://www.amazon.com/Riding-Alligator-Strategies-Screenplay-Writing/dp/193290784X/ref=sr_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1404151582&sr=1-3&keywords=pen+densham and John Watson, who looks like a big shot producer now, but he has only 6 writers credits. The only two of note are A Gnome Named Gnorm and then that was followed immediately by Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. Then basically nothing else. What? How is that possible?
  7. Sinbad was amazing - this is the first time I've actually listened to a whole ep of NNF. Nothing against the podcast, I've just never gotten around to it. This was fantastic. Also, I agree with Loco_por, I would love to hear Sinbad on other podcasts
  8. This movie is watchable like Transformers is watchable, except Michael Bay didn't direct it. That is probably the nicest thing I can say about it. Walter White dies 30 min into the movie, yet was the main advertising draw. The son is a bomb expert, which is the only reason he is even in the movie and then never diffuses a bomb. He even has tools and knows how to assemble the thing, yet can't open a half ajar case. The army knew that all electronics would short circut if it got near the monsters, yet they continually send jets and fighter planes after it in close range. They knew about the monsters for like 100 years and studied them non stop too! There was a whole research facility and a secret multi-national research group that just existed to study these things. Not only that, but the monsters had EMP Powers as a defense against......ancient predators like Godzilla? Why does that make sense? The dialogue was atrocious. The bad guy monsters eating a nuclear warhead was absurd and the people cheering for Godzilla at the end was also really silly, but they both sort of worked. Ken Wantanabe says Gozilla only came back to hunt the evil monsters, then Godzilla kills them and doesn't eat them or anything. She just kind of swims away. The whole thing was just ridiculous, although it was pretty.

    Episode 80 — D&Darping

It's funny because the show has a kid repeating everything anyone says for 20 minutes, they don't even play D&D for half an hour, the episode abruptly ends mid sentence, Blaine can't remember Winter's name and seems surprised when he is reminded of it, Blaine played a magic user for a year and now can't remember any of the mechanics of that class a month later as DM, there is almost always someone missing every episode, and yet the main thing people complain about on the forums is whether or not you guys remembered to apply the strength bonus or whether or not magic missile works that way. I almost think that the errors in D&Ding are just to throw everyone off the scent of all the rest of it. Anyways, the rampant unprofessionalism is actually kind of endearing and I suspect is equally entertaining than them just straight playing D&D the whole time. There was a lull there when Sark was checked out for the end of the racapades through the first 2 1/2 episodes of Blaine DMing, but now the show seems to have found its groove again. It would be a lot better if Gerry could make it consistently, though. He usually steers everyone in bizarre directions.

    Episode 79 — The Roc

This is getting a lot better, they needed to get out of the town area and Blaine is rounding into form and not digressing quite so much

Episode 292 — DJs Are Sleaze Js

Tune Yards puts on a fantastic live show, definetely go if you get a chance. Edit: Oh and I saw them last week in San Diego, as they played like literally 20 feet from my house at this new venue. I was walking my dog after the show and I saw that they were all hanging out outside waiting for the tour bus about a block and a half up. I was going to go walk up and compliment them on their show, but then my dog stopped walking. I look down and she has basically an entire, uncut pizza in her mouth that someone just left on the street that she was dragging behind her. I then got into a sitcom-esque tug of war game with her like 40 feet from the band and then by the time I got that thing away from the dog they had all gone inside. Anyways, if you read this: nice show in SD!
  12. It would be great if Sara bought into the violence a little more, but with lines like "you guys can't make diarrea jokes for like 10 minutes and then directly segue into bagging on Dumb and Dumber for making diarrea jokes" makes it all worth it. They wouldn't have even played D&D period this episode if she hadn't pushed everything along. These are still fine to listen to, but ultimately, Sark is a next level DM who put a lot of thought into everything he did. Comparing anybody to Sark doesn't really seem fair and I think the biggest problem is that he spoiled everyone. Blaine would be fine as a DM if you were sitting around with friends - definetely above average - but Sark made Nerd Poker feel like a show. I think we're just going to have to deal with it until Sark comes back, which hopefully is in a couple of months.
  13. My list is: 1.) The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen - this really needs to happen. 2.) Gothika - at first glance you might think it's just a run of the mill bad movie, but when you really start disecting the plot you realize just how bonkers it is. 3.) Dreamcatcher (oblig) 4.) Southland Tales (oblig) 5.) The Cat in the Hat
  14. No he literally was the main focus of all the trailers and the main reason anybody I know saw it (even people I know that liked it & including various random message boards around the internet I saw about people hyping it). He is the reason I saw it for sure. I'm pretty sure he just signed on because they promised him an assload of money and probably Japanese lessons

    Blended (2014)

Now that his films are bombing and there is likely no plausible chance any of the HDTGM crew nor their friends will likely be cast in any of his future films, maybe they can now do one of the older, more deserving Adam Sandler movies? Can it finally be time for Jack & Jill or Grown Ups 2? Or do we have to wait to see how that alien invaders movie does first?

Episode 77 — Into the Woods

The most annoying thing about this is the only reason I know that is because of Blaine's character from like 1 month ago. They had practically an entire episode going over it
  17. My personal all-time favorite Earwolf episodes: 1.) HDTGM - Sleep Away Camp 2.) CBB! - Farts and Procreation 1 3.) ADPPP - The Travel Bug with August Lindt 4.) UTU2TM? - Staind Glass 5.) Analyze Phish - Live in NY 6.) CBB! - Introducing Rocky! 7.) HDTGM - 88 Minutes 8.) Nerd Poker - Sir Richard in Disguise 9.) ADPPP - Kiss Me, I'm Patrick McMahon 10.) CBB! - Time Bobby 2 That is literally off the top of my head so I could have missed something, but I think that's pretty accurate

  20. You know what? I just watched those and I withdraw this whole thread. I almost want to go and watch Godzilla again just to get those out of my head. Jesus
  21. Ok so stay with me: The dialogue was terrible. Nobody will deny that, even people who liked the movie. The plot was pretty bad - nothing anybody did made any sense, it didn't have the same anti-nuclear weapon message/sentiment as the original, there was no purpose to it other than seeing monsters fight. Does anybody disagree with this? The main actor was terrible. Does anybody disagree with this? The women in the movie were cardboard cutouts that served no purpose than to be a backdrop and occasionally agree with the male characters. The visuals were great! Just to recap: the dialogue was atrocious, the main actor was bad (Shia LeBouf could legitimately act circles around this guy and I don't say that lightly), the portrayal of women probably would have been pretty bad if there were any in it, the plot was terrible, there was point or message to the movie, but the visuals were good and the reasons that people wrote they liked it here consist 100% of "it has big things fighting each other." The big things only really fought for something like 5% of the total screen time, too. How is this not Transformers with a different director?
  22. "If the take away is that an idiot could one day save your life....that is a bad lesson learned"
  23. So it's been awhile and therefore Staind Glass should be dropping any day now. Make this happen please

    Questions for Sark

I have a bunch of questions but I'm sure the answer to most of them are "I would have figured something out." like what would have happened if they went to the gas planet again instead of G-more, were the rat things going to also be in the crystal cavern if they had gone there first, would the rat-scapades have happened if they picked the right route, etc. Really I want to know what happened to Stargoyle most of all. Also you better come back to DMing! I doubt anybody will be able to carry your jock

Episode 71 — Dwarves vs. Man Rats

This episode is hall of fame status, because they were not only short handed, they made talking about identifying magic items for like 45 minutes entertaining. They're also clearly in hour two of a multiple episode day, judging by the clothes in their pictures. Try to count the Red Bulls popped open in the background from episode 70 to about 75 or so. If Brian is still wearing a red shirt and we've counted 4 pops in the back, there is no way he can go much longer. So far this session has been great, but hopefully we'll get the other two back around then.
