    Episode 57.5 β€” Minisode 57.5

Hell, you could just do a simple Google doc to keep track of votes. Don't need anything especially fancy for that. RE: Uwe Boll, I have often wondered how he gets otherwise decent actors to work in his stuff. Surely they know his history and what they're in for?

    The Number 23 (2007)

Calling it 'science' is being far too generous.

    Oz the Great and Powerful

Really? I saw this yesterday and while it had problems, I don't think the effects were an issue (other than the fact that they were overdone). Mila Kunis was indeed quite bad, but otherwise it really wasn't too terrible. The kids in the theater loved it. And I have to say, flying baboons are terrifying regardless of whether they are CGI or dudes in costumes.

    Did it? DID IT?

    Gangster Squad 2013

To be fair, every movie 'based on true events' uses dramatic license with the facts. It's not like The Untouchables or LA Confidential are going to get awards for accuracy any time soon.

    Gangster Squad 2013

Honestly, if we're going to do a noir, I must insist we do The Black Dhalia first. It is crazy nonsense stone cold bonkers and makes this movie look like a masterpiece.
  7. Ahhh okay. I couldn't finish this movie so I missed that. The gif makes more sense. Though the scene itself makes no sense because if it's all just a story why would a killer be in her closet?

    Nothing But Trouble - Horrifying

Dr Gakface definitely sounds like a Dan Aykroyd character name.
  9. I think that's supposed to be a poster. If it's a mirror it makes no sense, because at the angle it's at it couldn't possibly reflect anyone *in* the closet. Plus the light in the closet is on, why would the killer be cloaked in darkness in a lit area? I mean, this movie is terrible nonsense so it's possible but oi.

    Swept Away

Anything with Madonna is usually garbage. There are rare exceptions, but it's a pretty good rule of thumb.

But we are getting a new season of Arrested Development, so the world isn't completely topsy-turvy.

This has come up several times before, but I think the problem with Sandler movies is that they are so knowingly and deliberately awful that it just wouldn't be that fun to deconstruct them. They're made because they make money, and anyone attending a Sandler film knows what they're in for (just like someone that goes to a Tyler Perry movie). It's also been pointed out that they might avoid them because they have industry friends that appear in them (many people have put forth the idea that The Smurfs episode was taken down because Jayma Mays became a guest star on The League). I don't know if that's true, but they do work in the industry and probably have to tread somewhat carefully.

Yeah, Gibson is a nutter but he's a good director. And to be fair, the ending is ambiguous. The arrival of the 'Christian' Spaniards isn't necessarily portrayed as positive or negative.

    The Wizard (1989)

Worth noting that the girl is Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley fame. She must love it when people bring this movie up.

Sex and the City 2 (2010)

No, I can't in good conscience put Paul, June & Jason through the experience of watching this thing. Nor any of my fellow HDTGM fans. I think it's a violation of one of the various Geneva Conventions.

    Cool World (1992)

Wait, what? What makes you say the titties were 'for the kids'?

    Predator 2 (1990)

Keep in mind, I actually do like the movie. But I don't think this type of movie works in a city setting. Like Alien/s, it requires a certain amount of isolation.

    High Tension (2003)

Oh I agree, that ending was garbage. I remember being in the theater thinking 'Wait...what?!'. It was obviously just thrown in for the hell of it

Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 (2000)

Found footage movies seem to spawn particularly bad sequels.

    High Tension (2003)

I saw this one in the theater and seem to remember the English dubbing to be particularly bad. The twist ending is ridiculous nonsense, but the problem is the rest of the movie plays it all straight and none of the actors are outright bad. The whole show would have to be about the ending, really.

    Last Action Hero (1993)

One of my favorite things in the world is Arnold's DVD commentary for Conan. He literally just describes what is happening without giving any insight whatsoever. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSqnFxVaIx4

A lot of the design was based on RenΓ© Magritte's artwork, which is pretty amazing.

    Predator 2 (1990)

The 2nd one was directed by the Brothers Strause of Skyline fame. I will say no more.

    That's My Boy (2012)

Yup. He went for the hard-R and it cut out a huge section of his audience.

    Predator 2 (1990)

I guess you have to admire their optimism in thinking that technology would advance so quickly in 7 years (as well as their pessimism about gang warfare).
