Episode 532 - Everything Is Horrible and Wonderful
fenster77 replied to DaltonMaltz's topic in Comedy Bang Bang
I was scared I'd walk away from this ep depressed, but quite the contrary. Sad, to be sure, but still relatively upbeat. Stephanie was great and damn funny. Played with the characters really well. Make her a regular guest! -
Unbelievable ep. But man, I was getting nervous there listening to Tommy edge closer and closer to Fourvel territory. Almost had a Time Tommy on our hands.

Ending. Was. Bonkers.

I'm no police tactician, but when entering a house being held by a armed killer robot, it's probably not a good idea to just walk straight up to the wide open front door. Hey Magnum, maybe approach along the front of the garage? Also, when Ramsey emerges without the cameraman...not even the reporter seems to care. Her news partner is dead and it's just business as usual... Yep, just doin' my job. Takin' some notes. Jesus, lady. Don't you know that cameramen ALWAYS drive the news vans? How are you getting home? And why in the hell does Ramsey bring Thompson home with him afterwards in the first place? Makes no sense.

Man, I couldn't get through this episode. It really bummed me out. Ben Schwartz is great, as always. But I'm really surprised Scott let Zmuda be on the show like this. I was expecting the full-blown Tony Clifton to walk into the studio, just like any other character and just do the CBB thing. Instead, Scott and Ben do a mini-episode (complete with a game) and then a over-the-top introduction of "Tony Clifton", which is actually just Bob Zmuda telling Andy Kaufman stories. Either commit to the Tony Clifton character or just come on the show as yourself. I have no problem with Bob retelling the same stories that he told on WTF a couple months back. I think they're genuinely interesting stories and I'm sure there's many CBB listeners who don't listen to WTF. But to be Bob for 90% of the time, and then slightly change the inflection of your voice to tell a black/jew joke...sorry, but it's jarring and quite lame. I'm one of the biggest supporters of the "hey, you don't have to listen if you don't like it." Which is why I bailed out of it. But I'm just really curious why Scott chose to do it this way. They can't all be homeruns. CBB is still one of the best things around. Peace.

I've yet to post on the EW forums, but I just had to share this. I'm watching California's Gold for the first time ever. Huell Howser and a guide from Golden Gate Park are visiting one of the two Dutch windmills. After about 2-3 minutes discussing how the windmills actually used to provide all the water for the park, Huell poses the question: "Now, did those blades used to ACTUALLY TURN????" A few minutes later, inside the windmill... "Now, I heard you just say 'vanes'....you don't kawl them BLADES???" Wow. I always assumed James A. was exaggerating quite a bit. He's not. Huell is a trip.
