Also, speaking of Paul Rust, they should do a podcast with him about Rush, called Rusht.

TWO OF MY LOVES

THE TODD GLASS SITUATION

Read by James Adomian as Todd Glass

"What if that was the bit, that you were reading my audiobook"

I got the Helen Thomas reference, but only because she was portrayed a few times on SNL.
Â
LOVED this episode! It made me feel good and hopeful inside. I appreciated the discussion and especially the plea for trans inclusion/acceptance/however you want to say it. Also i was imagining that the whole first segment was just to get to the title of Todd's book. Fingers crossed that it will be on audible dot com.

Bless Ku for mentioning Huell Howser and that avocado-eatin' dog!
Â
Aww, I love "Journey Through The Past." I get misty every time I hear it.

Episode 182 in a nutshell
Â
Armen: "This is my darkest hour"
Kulap (minutes later): "This is the greatest day of my life!"

I fell over when they started playing TV theme songs.
I was really hoping for Magnum PI!
Â
Another cool thing: Scott played the theme from Happy Days and they discussed the show a bunch. Then later, the song "Buddy Holly" which of course had the Happy Days-themed video. And continued the chain with an actual Buddy Holly song. Pretty rad. #Illuminati
Â
(Edit) you guys are classy as hell for not pointing out that I mixed up the order of these songs.

With all the old references, I wanted to chant "OLD-ER, OLD-ER, OLD-ER" like "SLOW-ER, SLOW-ER, SLOW-ER" on Cheap Seats
Â
I enjoy old references, and then the calling out of them as well.

I'm willing to admit I laughed out loud at Kulap happily chirping "Butt guys!"

How come the Scotts talk so much about Bono, Haven't they heard of Michael Stipe?
NEW BONO!
Michael Stipe is Bono now.
Â
I kind of love that you registered just to post this. A worthy, uh, first post.

(plagiarising my own tweet) " Armen Weitzman is a sleepy prince who lives on a cloud." Also I didn't place the Mario music at all and thought it was some Scott Joplin rag
Â
Not a criticism, just I think it's funny that he is so sleepy and possibly lives on a cloud. Isn't there a guy who lives in a cloud in Super Mario? Throwing stuff at you? Everything is connected.

oh my god, this was so great. The anger, it was beautiful. I especially loved the Rush (band) talk, since Rush the movie was covered in Slowing It Down 1. Really....I could use even more Rush the band talk. Their latest album, 2012's Clockwork Angels, was pretty terrific for as far into their career as they are. The concert film of the same name is cool too, the string section adds so much to the new and old songs.
Â
Thanks for talking U2 to us. I have now started referring to my cat as "a little boy who wants to be a big boy."

Great episode! I was unaware of Devin's reputation and found him an enjoyable podcast guest. I just got home from Jodorowsky's Dune (who knew it would play here in Des Moines) and I wanted to comment and say thank you for the recommendation. I really enjoyed it. For 'Files fans like us here on the board, there was a fun treat where one of the blurbs/reviews for EL TOPO shown early in the film was from Screw Magazine.

I love getting little glimpses into Jason's secret nerd life. Like the Felicity reference in this episode, the "BAMF" Nightcrawler reference in another episode, calling out the Harry Potter snake (Nagini?) in the Anaconda episode. I know there are more but I'm blanking.
Â
He's like Ogre at the end of Revenge of the Nerds 2: Nerds in Paradise. Tough on the outside but a big ol' nerd under his tough exterior.
Â
Plus referring to lipstick lady as "the sister from Gilmore GIrls" when clearly she is Susan's crazy sister Chloe from ER.
-
Did the Would You Rather theme sound extra fancy today? Like it had been enhanced to take advantage of Stereo Surround sound.

"Which one?" "Duh, Roger & Me" - and then Owen jumped right in. So perf.

The in-room workout could be the "before" of a Bowflex infomercial. JCVD in black and white, lifting the bathtub, "Has THIS ever happened to YOU??" (as always RIP Billy Mays)

Cody, thanks for asking Howard to knock off the clanking. It was v. annoying. No clanking, no whistling. Please and thank you.
