I'm surprised this hasn't gotten more traction by the HDTGM World. It's got Tommy "You're Tearing Me Apart" Wiseau for godssake!
-
My wife, who is a novice listener at best, said after watching this (ahem) program: "If there was a How Did This Get Made? award, this should be the winner". I thought that was an apt comment.

WHAT.
THE.

I've always had a soft spot in my heart for the Wookie civilization; but, this is bananas-stupid!

Kind of quiet in here today, so I thought I'd throw this out there for the forum to discuss...So what did you guys think? What's the most underrated episode of HDTGM?
For me, I'd say Mac and Me. I feel like it was that ep that they kind of got their stride. Plus Adam Pally's awesome (oh ABC, how dumb you and your middle America audience are for not recognizing comedic genius with Happy Endings). But I digress, also Jingle All The Way comes to mind (is that considered underrated??). Oh and pretty much any ep with PFT (Smurfs?? Oh Smurfs, where did you go off to? Funny little Smurfs always disappearing.)

John Laroquette was yet again the uncredited narrator for LifeForce. I say yet again because he was also uncredited as the narrator for the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. He claims to be paid for his TCM work with a single joint. I'm guessing since this was the 80's and adjusting for inflation, he received an eight ball for his narration for this one.

Grampa chiming in once again. Why cant I "quote" from another post? I've tried it on my desktop at work and nothing gets copied and pasted at bottom. Can someone more tech savvy let me know what this ol' curmudgeon is doing wrong?
-
Oops, that above was an accidental quote post.

Oh boy. I think if you had a 24 hour long podcast you could not cover everything in this movie. After weeks of movies just called the same here in Japan, boy is this one a doozy. That means time for a return of"How Did This Get Named?"(in Japan)
So while the packaging on this film in Japan contains the English title of "Witch Bitch" the Japanese name was プラデューム:悪夢の閃光魔宮 (Paradyuumu: Akumu no Senkoumakyuu) which would translate to a very rough:
"Pladoom: Nightmare of the Radiant Evil Temple".
The name is bonkers but the packaging give some clues. Makyuu is an evil temple, for example that's what Temple of Doom is translated as in Japanese, and senkou high tech gym (they don't call it a spa and this is where the radiant part comes in) is turned into a temple of evil when the ghost tries to merge worlds which I assume they mean the spirit and corporeal. That explains the clunky second half. The Pladoom part? No idea. Not a word in Japanese or English. "Pura" can be used as a shorted prefix for plastic or plus but "Plastic Doom" makes no sense either. I think they just had no idea what was going on either.

I haven't listened to the entire podcast yet (I had to skedaddle to work), but I had a question and not sure if they ended up discussing this: The creepy brother had an English accent, right? But, his TWIN SISTER didn't? Maybe I didn't hear her inflection properly or something...Also, how did the dude in the sauna get killed? Was that a piece of the wood from the sauna bed, or from the wall or something?

For some reason my Quote function wont let me tag taylorannephoto's question of what would we be for Halloween; anyway, I would be John Travolta's character in Battlefield Earth complete with the abnormally large and frontal cod piece.
This is a tech question and will definitely expose my lack there of, but how do you attach memes and gifs (are they the same)? I'll take the answer off the air (neilip2000@yahoo.com).

Okay, I have another little game I'd like to play if anyone is up for it. :)/>/>Take whatever device you use to listen to music, put it on "all songs," put it on shuffle, and track forward until you find a song that you are willing to listen to all the way through. And then do this four more times. I'd like to hear the last five songs that you've listened to today in their entirety, but I'd be happy with just the last three. Full disclosure, this took a lot longer for me to accomplish than I thought. I'm just curious where everyone's head is at today. I promise this isn't for nefarious marketing purposes...but if you want to tell whether you prefer Coke or Pepsi that would be cool, I guess.
No judgement, just be honest. I mean--let's not kid ourselves--none of us are "cool," so don't try to game the system. This isn't Facebook. I like you all for the fine people that you are.
1) Tropical London--Rancid
2) Nearly Beloved--The Wallflowers
3) Soldier Boys and Jesus Freaks--Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds
4) Jump Into the Fog--The Wombats
5) Help--The Beatles
Huh, I seem to be feeling (tangentially) 80% British today. That's weird.
Songs that were close but didn't quite make it:
Surf's Up--The Beach Boys
Lovecraft in Brooklyn--The Mountain Goats
Stay--OIngo Boingo
I Follow You-Melodys Echo Chamber
Medicine Hat-Pond
Henkan-Bo Ningen
Street Joy- White Denim
Unison-Bjork
Thank the heavens for Spotify. I never would have known of Bo Ningen or White Denim (well, I guess thank Kevin Parker for them).

Coincidentally enough, I put together an "I Love the 2000's" playlist within the last week. It's filled with guilty pleasure epic ballads like:
Since You Been Gone -Kelly Clarkson
It's Been Awhile -Staind (Glass)
Hemmorrage in My Hands -Fuel
Dig-Incubus
Somewhere I Belong- Linkin Park
Sometime Around Midnight- Airborne Toxic Event
The Middle- Jimmy Eat World
.........
Craptastic stuff like that.
I'll uh, see myself out.

I'm so confused about who is who in the new Star Wars? I thought Kylo Ren was Mr Grumpypants from Girls? I'm a fan of the original three, but this shit is getting out of hand...

Not sure if this has been brought up or not; but, in the uncut version that sceen where that kid gets run over by the steam roller was apparently much more gruesome. They filled this dummy with fake blood and when it crushes his head, blood splattered all over the roller. I guess the MPAA found that too disturbing.
But the level of acting/dialogue was suitable??

I just saw the preview for Deadly Friend. I change my vote to that one.

My votes:
Bride of Chucky
Cabin Fever
Texas Chainsaw 2 ('86)
Shocker
Maniac Cop

This could be a good Halloween ep. This is a highly entertaining flick! Hopper is abs-bonkers. Can't believe he said THIS was the worst film he was ever a part of. Bill Mosley is his typical freak news.

Of course this movie is garbage, that's why they are covering it on the show.
Why does "AC/DC suck" in your opinion? Is it because they helped revolutionize an entire genre of music and were the forerunners in a geography than previously hadn't really been exposed to blues rock? Granted post-Bon Scott, they got a little lackadaisical; but, Angus Young is one of the best guitarists ever. They may not be your cup of tea, but you have to admit that they were/are a talented band for their style, instead of just using a blanket statement like AC/DC suck (which isn't even grammatically correct).
If this movie is boring, don't watch it.
Now get off my lawn you little bastard!

King

I thought this episode was great! Having the gang back together was a treat.
I don't understand all of the vitriol being spat at Jason on this board? I think instead of trolling around spouting negativity you may just want to listen to another podcast and leave the rest of us alone. Zouks is a fucking national treasure! If you don't think so (I'll take a page from Jason himself) GO FUCK YOURSELF!

umm pretty much every one!

I FINALLY watched this movie, and holy shit do they need to do a redux! They barely scratched the surface of this insane masterpiece. One question I had and was never answered, DID Travolta in fact fuck Justin Long's girlfriend, cause he seemed like the type of guy to do that? His (Long's) blood-rage seemed legit. That as probably the best acting in the movie. Please please please do a sequel!

I just found out that he died today. I've been out of the loop obviously. The wife and I were just catching up on the last six eps of P&R last night (didn't finish the final ep or I would have seen the note at the end) and I caught the one where Harris had his head in the clamps. It made me want more Analyze Phish. That guy was so very funny!
I thought he was out of the woods with his addiction, but I guess it never really goes away. I don't really have anything enlightening to say, I just wanted to add to this since he made me smile through his work and his voice.

"I have the right to know if somebody's trying to kill me!"
Well said.
