  1. Best ep of the year so far

Agreed. Matt, don't worry about the reviews, i4h has been on such a consistent hot streak that you are putting other comedy podcasts to shame. Thank you so much for doing this podcast!

I have to say, the dynamic between these guys is fantastic. They're a perfect mix of absurd, silly, yet incredibly witty and intelligent. They remind me a lot of Charlie Sanders and Colton Dunn, who I also absolutely love. If there was any way to get a dream team episode of Pally, Gil, Gemberling, Dunn and Sanders I would lose my mind. I think The Green Crew would probably gain some new members that day!

  2. Omission, but really more just a crazy fact: director of Dust Devil and Hardware, Richard Stanley, was fired from Dr. Moreau which was his project that he had worked on and obsessed over for years. It was rumored that he snuck back onto the set as an extra in order to observe and sabotage production. In his own words, when nothing else worked, he turned to black magic and witchcraft. He later made a documentary in 2002 called The White Darkness, about voodoo in Haiti.

This is true, although I'm not sure about the part about sabotaging the production. There was recently a documentary made about the making of this film called Lost Soul where Richard Stanley talks about sneaking back onto the set, as well as all the insanity involved with the production. It's not the best made documentary, but the anecdotes discussed in it are incredible. Here's the trailer:

EDIT: How do we embed videos in the post?

  3. Is anyone else ever surprised by Paul's mispronunciations of actor's names? For someone who I assume has listened to all episodes of Serial and has heard her name multiple times, it was a bit odd to hear him say "koe-nig" instead of "kay-nig." Also, I'm pretty sure he was screwing up Palance as well.

  4. The trailer for the film is in such bad quality it's not worth watching, but someone did post a 13 minute chunk of it that will give you a taste of how incredible this film is:

    From the Netflix plot summary:

"Rising rock star T.J. Cray (played by Twin Peaks' James) gets the shot of a lifetime -- an audition with an A&R man -- but on the big day, a carload of drunks smash into his car, and his hands are severed. Soon, he drops out of the business and becomes a homeless drunk, until one day when he wakes up to a pulsing beat in an abandoned warehouse where a "rave" party is in full swing. There, he meets Anamika (Christina Applegate), who helps reinvent T.J.'s career."

    Β

If it's not clear, this is a film about a guy who has HIS HANDS CUT OFF when some vindictive locals fire up a backhoe and squash his car so severely that he wakes up in the hospital to discover he has no hands.

    Β

A man with no hands has no reason to live apparently, and so TJ takes to the mean streets of New York city and becomes a cliched homeless alcoholic. After saving Christina Applegate from a mugging/stabbling by using his fake hand to stop a knife blow, he starts hanging around her and her neighbors who are huge fans of the burgeoning "rave" scene of 1990s New York. Applegate's neighbors Geek and Simian (I swear these are their names) join forces to construct electronic hands for TJ, which he then uses to play the keyboard and immmediately becomes a sensation in the rave scene. It gets crazier from there.

    Β

    This movie is absolutely insane.

  5. Thanks for clarifying guys. Last question: has Jason ever discussed his white shirt and why he always wears it? I saw him at La Poubelle the other night after a show at ucb and almost asked him about it (yes, he was wearing it), but he was eating dinner with a lady and the timing seemed less than optimal.
